I read the Forerunner trilogy and was more confused by the end of the series than I was when I started.

Always thought the Halo TV show should be based on the novels and games, also that the first season should of been about Harvest

The fact that it’s some black and white military story is what turns me off from the franchise. It’s just a military story behind a barely science fiction setting and popularized by Xbox boys who liked multiplayer shooters. I’d rather read 3 good fantasy novels than 10+ halo books just to feel some type of interest in the world lol. But I’m glad at least some of the later books stray away from chad being a soldier and put some effort into the more creative aspects of alien/space storytelling

He should check-out the Kilo-Five trilogy audiobooks, the reader is great. He brings out a unique voice to all the characters that really fleshes them out, even though it's the same guy reading. Really magnificent stuff.
