Renee Zelwigger does a great specific English accent, it's kind of middle/upper class. I'm working class but went to a school with a lot of posh people and there was one girl who speaks just like Bridget Jones.

A bit cruel to place Will Smith just before an actor of the calibre of Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Brad Pitt is an absolute legend! He can pretty much do anything but his accent and dialect in the movie Snatch was just incredible.

This video really made me think. Many of the greatest actors and actresses aren't great at accents, some accents are easier/harder. Some mediocre actors and actresses have done great accents.

But a great actor that can do a great accent catapults them into a league of their own. It is thus fitting that it's Daniel Day Lewis (probably our greatest living actor?) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (which death was a terrible loss to the arts) that appear flawless in this video. Cate Blanchett also being magnificent with a great showing also by Idris Elba.

Of course Daniel Day Lewis nailed the accents every time! He is a legend

I wish I could have had this guy to critique the generalized southern Irish accent I learned in high school for One Act Play. I worked on it for months and got praised for it all the way up to Regionals, but it would have been interesting to hear what a specialist would have said about it.

I couldn’t help but smile when he smiled seeing Heath as Joker. He was basically untouchable as that character.

Brad Pitt was doing a traveller accent in snatch which as they say in the movie “isn’t really English, isn’t really Irish, it’s just pikey” it’s unique.

Idris on Mandela was nonsense...but i think he nailed the Nigerian accent on Beast of no Nation. American actors attempting south African accents is a problem they don't do thorough research every language in South Africa has an accent every and there are 11 official languages. There are other African countries which have their different accents. In black panther 😢 disaster. The only time they nailed the accents is when Atandwa kani who played the younger father to Tchala and his father John Kani played the older version and even using the Xhosa language that was perfect because its their native language.

Neither Cruise nor Pitt were attempting Belfast accents. This is completely wrong. A serious error for me as an Irishman looking at this. Cruise was attempting basically any southern Irish accent. His attempt is comically, hilariously cringe bad. Pitt was playing a traveller Irish. Traveller Irish have an absolutely unique accent - which Pitt indeed does a very, very good job on, without quite nailing it 100%.

Brad Pitt was the weak link in Inglourious Basterds. He could've done so much more with that character. That movie was a masterpiece otherwise

There’s no such thing as a “Texas accent” it varies across the state. Houston is definitely the South by the way.

Eastern Promises, Viggo not nailing it like a native speaker is totally in character. He's a British agent who could have been born anywhere and had to adopt the accent as part of his cover. I like that it's not perfect.

im not a fan of brad pitt or will smith, as actors. Forrest Whittaker does a brillant english accent, fooled many of us brits.

Gordon-Lewitt pronounces the 'H' in Hotel. Most French speakers would not make an effort to pronounce it when speaking English, since the 'H' it is mostly silent in French.

There's nothing even supposed to be Belfast about Brad Pitt's accent in Snatch. It's meant to be a traveller's accent. But it's shite right enough. A bit of Dublin, a bit of leprechaun. Zero Belfast.

I think his priorities are just his own personal obsession. Tom Cruise's Belfast accent, for example, is awful for none of the reasons the commentator mentions.
