Fsr 1 upscales aliased image. Fsr 2 upscales then applies aliasing.

What about FSR 3 frame generation?

It does look good, although it's worth noting that FSR 1 Ultra Quality also looks OK if you turn TAA back on (For whatever reason it disables it, but FSR1 doesn't have an AA effect, just resolution scaling, so the game turning it off every time you boot into it means you get stuck with a non-antialiased image and that's why it looks SO bad.). However, it's also obsolete now as FSR2 runs better and looks better anyway.

FSR Ultra Quality is better than antialiasing. TAA is too blurry and the textures looses details, SMAA still have jagged edges and weird looking hair, and on FSR the game looks better and it performs better. Its not perfect, but it's better.

I hope it gets FSR 3.

For some reason enabling FSR 1.0 in Baldur's gate 3 will disable the separate TAA setting. The shimmering goes away if you turn TAA back on, along with FSR 1. At least that has been my experience. Having said that, depending on your resolution choices, it can get really blurry.

This was my first time trying FSR outside of Proton-GE's Linux FSR hack, which is not "real" FSR.

FSR 1.0 is a GREAT option for old cards. It looks like crap but having gone through years of iGPU gaming, its a godsend.

The results from FSR 2.2 are unreal. Cant wait to try FSR 3.

I don't like FSR 1.0 or 2.2. I'm on a 1440p monitor and honestly I don't like using scaling.
I'm on a 3 year old GPU now and I'd much rather just cap to 60 fps and use ultra settings without scaling or AA and not have to deal with the fans revving up.

if you have a slow PC, then FSR2.2 is definitely good, but If you have a powerful PC, I suggest to stay on TAA, it looks much better in high resolution with some magic and stuff. (good way to test is launch Gale's suicide bomb and see how glow around him is handled). TAA is still the best for AMD cards.

it still has lot of shimmering on edges and in foliage and trees, more than you showcase in this video, it's definitely not rare. and it really bothers me :) I returned to TAA + amd radeon sharpening combo because of it, I just can't stand the shimmering...

What is the upscaling factor or render resolution for FSR Ultra Quality? Unfortunately, there is no explanation in the game.

AMD really needs to make FSR 2/3 have more temporal stability (minimal shimmer, flicker and ghosting). DLSS 2/3 is just soo much ahead of FSR 2/3 in this regard and from the looks of it, AMD is doing nothing to address this issue.

Looks good for AMD and Intel GPU owners, i always found FSR1 to be way too blurry, even with UQ, picture was like an oil painting. FSR2 is so much better
Did developers improved CPU performance in big city? (Checked your other video, it looks like it's improved for ~15%, good)
