Hi Mark, another great video. Does this mean you can clear image zoom on prime lenses such as the Sigma 30mm 1.4 for photos and videos?

does it effect the aperture when you zoom for example 1.4 to 2.8 as you zoom ?

Can we change the zoom lever function and assign it to change shutter speed or ISO?

This hack is 🔥! I recently switched to Sony (ZV-1's) for my live stream/podcast studio. I got curious about the ZVE10 (kit lens was junk) so I watched this as I was researching the 16mm 1.4 - Because of this feature I decided to pick up the 11mm 1.8 (because of it's size) and try it out with Clear Image Zoom. Works like a charm in studio as well as out in the wild. Thanks for the great content and tests.

Hi Mark,
Thank You for your so useful videos !
Yesterday I filmed a horse jumping competition with the ZV-E10 and the 18-105mm. I used the pp10 profile and the active steadyshot. The light was poor (FHD 50ips, ISO800, S 1/100sec, A auto but most of the time F4). The result is really bad, so grainy and with an awful sharpness.
Looking for an explanation, I'v seen this video once again and for me, It confirm that active steadyshot "destroy" the image quality, at least in these difficult conditions. Do You think I'm right or is there any other problem with my settings ?

Hi Mark! Have you tried if using the clear image zoom reduce the rolling shutter effect? I have been reeding some comments on older sony bodies (a6300 and a6500) which claim improvements in rolling shutter by using the clear image zoom and was wondering if for the sony zv e10 works in the same way

Love your channel man. Just wondering, do you have a comparison video of digital zoom vs clear image zoom? Specifically when looking at the picture at 100% or more. Im just curious of the resolution and print quality for big prints and signs.

If you use clear image zoom and zoom back out all the way, does it switch back to the normal auto focus?

Everyone is talking about an additional 1.5x zoom range with clear image zoom... on my A6300 it goes to 2x, even in 4k... is that different on the ZV-E10 or other Axxx models?

This is usable just as a video feature , for photos it just crops the image. It’s just using portions of the sensor to do the zoom without losing quality, so it’s really cool for videos. With the 600mm lens your getting 900mm in APS-C and with this clear image zoom function it’s like having 1350mm lens but only for video work only. I don’t have a full frame camera yet, bur if my assumptions are correct, if you have a a7RIV and if it’s possible to use crop sensor mode together with clear image zoom, you have a banger of a camera for wildlife in video and photos

One caveat: clear image zoom isn't going to negate the optical properties/distortion of the lens. So, in your side by side comparison (super helpful, btw), your nose is a little embiggened on the clear image zoom example because it's a wide angle lens that does funny things to time and space. but maybe your nose really looks like that? How would I know? The longer lens is more flattering but without the side by side most would never notice.

I had the A seven S3 and tried the clear Image Zoom for video. Though it looks good it really is nothing more than a simple magnification that you could also do in post-processing . I also see it in your own face comparison. Only panasonic offers a real sensor crop with no loss.

I just bought a new A6400 and used CIZ with the Sigma 16mm f1.4. I sat on 1/3 of the screen and the focus was all over the place. I was going to return the camera until I saw only one online post talking about it and now yours. I love the zoom in feature but might consider turning it off next time because I hate the centre focus thing!!!

I am using the ZV-E10 as a webcam for my video conferencing --- I had a Sony A6100 and this replaced it ... On the A6100 pressing the display button would turn the monitor off to keep from wearing it out and reduce heat. to @"Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis" is there a way to turn off the monitor on the ZV-E10 ? Quality VIdeo's thanks

Another great video. Have you considered the Sony E 24mm f1.8 available at a decent price used? Also would love to see a test of the HD quality of the camera as several reviews say it is not great. I will need to record some long duration content so will need to use HD at 50 Mbps or 16 Mbps to keep file sizes small. Would be great to know the quality of it when using a decent lens like the Sigma 16mm f1.4. Keep up the great work with your ZV-E10 content 👍

@Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis  Good morning. This is the answer I was looking for. The idea is I want to save money and I am a minimalist. It would be great if buying the 16mm could cover landscapes and studio as per your advise here.
So let's say I do the clear zoom on my 16mm, will that retain the background blur as a true F1.4? Low light performace as I saw on your video looks great but I want to know about the creamiest blur. Will that stay?

Hey Mark, thanks for the videos. I plan to buy a ZV E10 to shoot documentaries, filming gigs and small bands, taking photos on my journeys etc, is it really necessary I take the sigma lenses? I'm buying the E10 and my budget is on the point of it, so I don't think I'll be able to get a new lens in a long time, do you think it's okey if I get it anyways despite using the lenses the kit brings?

This was a useful explanation of magic 🤣 did not use this feature that much but I never realised that the focus is restricted to the frame center. Because I only used it when I shot something which I had in the center of the Image anyways. So this lack of Knowledge could have killed some future footage if you wouldn’t have told me about that. Thanks a lot! The feature itself is a killer indeed! Great job Doug!
Edit: I hit a brick wall with my questionable grammar skills in English…. Hope you understand my ramblings 🤣 to make it short: you are the potential saviour of a Video what I haven’t even made 🤣

Hey thanks for this Mark. I did not know about the clear Image Zoom and was using the Sigma 16 F1.4 and used the zoom lever. I was amazed at the clarity at 1.5 zoom. Super sharp! Thanks for helping me understand why Mark. I value the information about this camera the you are sharing on your channel!

Do one on digital zoom, I find that it zooms in a lot more that clear image which can be very useful giving the kit lens more mm. It says x4 not sure but maby it's turns the lens to 80mm. I know the quality is worst but still can be useful
