There is NO monsoon anywhere in the U.S. A monsoon is a specific seasonal wind pattern exclusive to tropic latitudes. In the southwestern U.S. a thermal low develops beginning in late May / early June. This in conjunction with high pressure over the southern plains induces a NW flow of moisture from Mexico, only made possible by the seasonal dissipation of the Subtropical Jetstream which prevents this northward flow for most of the year. Around late September the Temperate latitude Jetstream begins to drop further south over the continental U.S. disrupting the southern plains high / thermal low scenario. In October the Subtropical Jetstream re-forms blocking the NW flow of moisture entirely. Those who have studied meteorology and are familiar with atmospheric sciences know the only true monsoons occur in parts of southern Asia, southern Mexico & Latin America, parts of central Africa and northern Australia. The atmospheric dynamics associated with the summer thunderstorm season in Arizona are entirely different from the Monsoon Trough in the tropics. Of course the politically correct majority is ignorant of this as usual.
ОтветитьNow yes I agree. Las Vegas, NV's wettest year has been 2012 because of August 22 and September 11, 2012. We recieved 4.5" which is 0.31" more than our annual, so that was a new record. That Tuesday we recieved 1.18" in an hour.
Ответитьthank you .als, bookmakarked for later review.
ОтветитьThe so called "Arizona Monsoon" is a joke compared to the Indian Monsoon. Yeah, yeah. I know it's the technically correct term. I've lived in Az. for 30 years and our "monsoon" consists mostly of miserably high humidity and temperatures but the local tv weathermen just can't say the word "monsoon" enough. Lol. That and "Haboob" for another wonderful feature of the Arizona Monsoon season, dust storms.
ОтветитьThank you, I'm a high school teacher and this will be very helpful in my class!
ОтветитьMy only reservation about your very good video is your implying a restriction of the North American monsoon to the Sonoran desert. But in fact monsoon extends over much of the Chihuahuan desert to the east. Eastern Arizona and a large part of New Mexico also experience monsoon.
ОтветитьBro I'm planning to chase the Monsoon this year, where should I go to witness it?!!
ОтветитьAre you with an organization or operating as an individual?
ОтветитьWhat ?
ОтветитьMay you please make a metamorphic rock video
ОтветитьMonsoon is a philosopher who explains why meme is DNA of the soul.
