Tried carrying a Guardian 3, didn't work. I love the knife, love the look, love the feel, sharp. Just was hard to get out the sheathe since only a small part of the handle sticks out, so you have to inch it out a little at a time, you could wrap some paracord into a tie at the base but to me that kind of defeats the point of a pocket knife and increases the profile. I tried 3 different sheathes. It was just longer and wider... Wasn't a good fit for me, especially where in the summer I'm wearing gym shorts a lot. Still have the Guardian 3, but don't carry it anymore,

5th pocket carry jams anything sticking above it into your hip bone when you sit. Something a knife salesman won’t tell you. 😉

As an old woodworker, I sharpen my chisels to an extremely sharp edge, but them add a microbevel to get even sharper.
Anyone try sharpening a knife to say 20degrees, then hone at something like 22 degrees? Would think this approach would allow a fine edge to have a slightly more robust secondary bevel to help prevent edge rolling/shipping?

At first I thought the "5th pocket" was referring to the long leg pocket in carpenter pants. The one designed to carry a folding timber ruler, pliers and etc.

If you stick those fixies in your 5th pocket, won’t the handle stick into your pelvis when you sit down?

Where is crkt minimalist?

No mention of the CRKT Minimalist? Right size, micarta, ergos, etc.
Readily available and can be found under $20 in a variety of blade shapes and colors.
Maybe a bit on the cheap side for daily steel but a surprisingly great knife for the price.

What fixed blade is in the thumbnail?

I’ve taken a seam ripper (a standard sewing tool), opened up the bottom seam of the watch pocket, and let my sheath poke thru the bottom. Also a good idea to use a little seam tape and a hot iron on the open seam to prevent fraying. Allows for a slightly large knife.

....REALITY CHECK,,,HE WASNT SCARED OR INTIMIDATED....so i think he had watched to many Steven Segal movies,because he lunged at me and grabbed my wrist with the knife,,,,REALITY CHECK,,,whatever his attempt was,,didnt work,,,,i then,,,,,,REAL TRUTH HERE NO REASON TO LIE,,,,,,i pushed him away,( GET THE FCUK OFF ME !!KINDA PUSH ),,, i cut him on his forearm and knicked him on his chest,,THAT'S ALL,,,100% TRUTH,,,,i gave him 2 superficial wounds,,one on his forearm other on his chest,,,,,he stood there telling me he was calling the police,,,,he walked away,,not bleeding to death at all,but bleeding,,,he went to the hospital,,,he recieved 2 superficial non life threatening knife cuts,,,,police were at my door next day.....long story to an end finally,,,,,,
.....i did 6 years in prison,1 year on parole,,,,my charges,,ASSAULT AND BATTERY WITH THE USE OF A DEADLY WEAPON ,,
WHICH WAS DROPPED DOWN!!!! FROM ATTEMPTED MURDER.......
point of all this is,,,,,the knife you carry for your " PROTECTION " can be the nail in your own coffin......

The Gerber Gator is one of the best knives ever made! I've got one I bought around 1992. That things stays razor sharp and takes a beating!

Starter guide for pocket knives ? Round the $100 mark. We dont have much of that in the netherlands.

Snake Charmer is even more useable as a neck knife with that plastic sheath. i wore and used it daily more than 3 years in a row working in my little sharpening and knife selling business. will get another one.

As a cane user. I am looking for a fixed blade to holster on off side front pant’s pocket. If I have to use it , it will be confiscated. Suggestions please!

Framelocks are still great for making nicely slim knives!
I bought the CRKT M16-03BS because it has a framelock for example! Sweet robust, slim and easy to maintain construction! 🥰

A knife is only as good as the handle.

If you are in Europe, have a look at Wolfgangs (Odenwolf now), they have a couple of neck knives, the Veriti and the Acus. They are more budget friendly and their handles are a little bit longer, with it something positive at the moment of actually using the knife. I carry one exactly in the way the question’s poster was asking for.

Everyday's a school day, I had never heard it called fifth, coin or watch pocket. I genuinely thought its name was condom pocket.

What about the little Mora neck knife, the Eldris? Fits in my pockets just fine. I have carried it on my belt with the belt loop attachment, as a neck knife with that attachment, and in my pocket with the plain sheath. It is small enough, but not too small, and affordable and tough!

Hey guys! Question for a future video: can you show off different types of sheaths and clips, and methods of carry for different knives? For example, I own a Ka-Bar TDI Investigator, and I can't figure out how to carry this thing effectively on a belt. The stock clip just does not seem to lend itself to a good belt position for me. I'd love to see options that are out there and how to get different knives to sit where you want them.

I watch all the beatiful blade shapes, materials, designs, locks...and always end up buying a Cold Steel knife. This time that great Bird and Game for EDC, lightweight workhorse and a somewhat tactical fixed blade. Thumbs up! great video!

Love the bird and game. The bird and fish is a little smaller,laced into my boots and was my favorite fo years till I lost it on a really hot fishing day. Now that I see it I gotta go buy another one

What about the CRKT minimalist neck knife? Also what about some of the cold steel mini push knives they seem to fit fine and with the t handle low profile..

The stubby guy blade looks useless. Why call it a blade?

These little ( 2 inch) knives are nice looking, but for their limited use including self defense, i find the price probably not worth the purchase. If being used for uses such as box cutting, they would probably be fine. But again for self protection i would consider a longer fixed blade, that has more capabilities to accomplish the task, other than making the attacker more aggressive.
