Baby Growth from 4 to 34 Weeks: What’s Happening Inside

The journey of a baby’s development from 4 to 34 weeks is amazing! Each week brings new growth as your baby prepares for life outside the womb. Let’s break down these incredible stages:

4-12 Weeks: Building Foundations
By 4 weeks, your tiny baby is growing quickly. By the end of 12 weeks, all major organs have formed, and their little heart has started beating. Fingers and toes form, and soon your baby will begin moving, though it’s too small to feel just yet.

13-20 Weeks: Growth and First Movements
By 13 weeks, bones are hardening, and fingerprints start to develop. Between 18 and 20 weeks, you might feel the first fluttery kicks! Babies also start hearing sounds, including familiar voices.

21-28 Weeks: Eyes Open and Brain Grows
At 21 weeks, your baby’s senses sharpen. They practice swallowing amniotic fluid to prep their digestive system. By 28 weeks, they begin blinking and growing rapidly, both in size and brain activity.

29-34 Weeks: Preparing for the Outside World
During these final weeks, your baby gains weight, stores fat, and readies their lungs for breathing. REM sleep kicks in, so they may even dream! Space gets tight, so you’ll feel stronger kicks as they prepare to meet you.

Each week is filled with tiny milestones that prepare your baby for the world, laying the foundation for a lifetime of growth and discovery.
