Quite possibly their worst design yet:

There's no arca swiss rail on the side of the cage for portrait. But there are plenty of holes for mounting one I guess.

There aren't three anchor points. There are only two true anchor points that screw into the body.

The directions do NOT state to remove the strap lugs, but rather the split D-rings on the lugs.

DO NOT REMOVE THE STRAP LUGS as this could potentially interfere with weather resistance.

The instructions are terrible. The cage slightly interferes with the ISO and the exposure compensation buttons. A mild inconvenience, but they could have easily contoured the cage to better accommodate accessing these buttons.

I would wait for the Three-Legged Thing L-Bracket, or for Small Rig to revise this design. I'll probably send mine back.

Tip: it would be helpful and you show the “small rig” if you could bring in the camera really close. A lot of us are watching on phone/iPads and the detail is very small having the camera that far away. Thank you for talking about the camera frame

I like small rig gear as I have a full cage for my Z6 and Z9. However I wish the cage was one piece as it is shipped in 4 pieces secured with 3.5mm hardware. Maybe that is impossible. Although, once secured to the cage with provided hardware, the camera doesn't move at all, solidly secured in the cage. Every door, knob, switch or lcd panel is easily accessed without issue, its a very cleverly designed cage. Two years ago, my Z6 which had the small rig full cage, fell to the sidewalk after my camera strap broke. The cage protected the camera, no cracks, scratches or anything broken. cheap insurance for sure. I am glad I purchased the small rig full cage.

It looks nice but I have a Small rig L plate and the little screwdriver in the base soon went missing, sadly.

Someone please tell me you have info about the SmallRig L-bracket for the Z8, in the U.S. Not a peep about this. Only a product photo.

Hey Becky, how do you mean you can turn it easy in portrait mode?

I'm torn between this cage and the bigger one with the grip attached. You should also try to cover that one as well.
I got the L bracket this week and it's really good, on that note you should preview it as well since it will be the best seller.
