Rhett, it was an honor to talk about an amp that is super important and something, honestly, that I really needed to get my job done as a session guitarist. Great video, and still a great sounding Amp in 2023.... thank you Michael for inventing it:)
Ответить"There's no plan B" ? I haven't caught any of your vids for a while, but this one hit my feed, and I had too !
ОтветитьGreat to see the SLO used for rock and not just crushing metal. Clapton, Knofler, many people used this amp for clean, light drive, crunch - not just severe gain.
ОтветитьDude, this is the ultimate amp, and I do not say that lightly.
Ответитьanyone know what rick springfield he was talkin about?
ОтветитьSounds better thank a dumble
ОтветитьWarren De Martini, Mattias Jabs, Adrian Vandenberg, Steve Lukather, Vivian Campbell, and CC DeVille are no brainers to me. They all have a taste for a certain sound that would draw them to Soldano. Surprised George Lynch wasn't in the first 50, that guy is crazy about gear.
ОтветитьThis is off subject and I apologize, but I am so curious, how did u make out with the NPO block in 19 or 20? I have no idea if you made a vid or posted the outcome of that.
ОтветитьI was wondering what that orange amp was. It's the new OR30, which you got early ;)
ОтветитьN. 1 for me 🤟👍
ОтветитьSoldano makes great amps! Of this there’s no doubt; however, after years of experimenting with almost every amp imaginable, the magic really happens at the speaker cabinet. In the case here, the cabinet shown and played has vintage 30 watt speakers. From my experience, the classic Celestion 25w greenbacks are even better at producing awesome tone from almost any 100w head without it sounding like it’s being pushed too hard. The 30w and 25w speakers produce a creamer distortion tone because they break up without the need to over drive them with sheer power. Almost any 100w head, Soldano, Boogie, Marshals, Hughes & Kettner to name but a few all sound much better through 30w or 25w speakers in a 4x12 configuration. Vintage 30w cabinets are a little more affordable while the 25w greenback cabinets are very expensive; however, I have found the later to be worth the extra cost!
ОтветитьAmp settings??? Thanks!

ОтветитьI'm not a high gain player, but Soldanos are one of my favorite amps. There aren't many high (ish) gain amps that i find sound good with Strats. But along with the Silver jubilee, the SLOs do.
ОтветитьSuch a killer amp. I know it’s famous for all the big names that have used it, but there are also a bunch of people in the metal and doom worlds who use them. Matt Pike uses a couple of SLO 100s with High on Fire (and sometimes with Sleep). That burly and compressed high gain sound that he gets out of the SLO 100 is as much a part of the band as his playing is.
ОтветитьHey! Thanks for the video! did you find the SLO 100 sound close to "blanket coverring the cab" type of sound? can it do marshall treble sounds? with more bite?
ОтветитьJBB amp Cruzer will destroy your soldano like a mother of a child))
ОтветитьWould watch videos too frustrating with not being able to go anywhere with these space bars!!!
ОтветитьIF...and it’s a big IF...you can play a SLO100 at full volume (10/10/10). You will hear the glory of God on even a simple 5th chord. Your leads will leap off of your fingers and soar into the stratosphere...you will be happy for the first time ever...and then you’ll get arrested for noise violations. Yepper doodle...gotta be a big rock star for that stuff...little people need not apply. (I’m a little people...I got a huge fine)
ОтветитьNow I'm all Amped up!
ОтветитьLove to hear the studio guys talk about the history of all this stuff..that rack era is so inspiring as a guitarist, the Wild West of tone chasing..so cool!! As a millennial I’m so jealous..those 80s multi channel rack preamps capture the essence of what’s so great about guitar, super crystalline cleans - the purity of the instrument in parallel to destructive ear piercing high gain..perfection!
Great content Rhett, keep it up! I entered into the sweepstakes, im super interested in that amps course too - hopefully this era will be another 80s style guitar renaissance!
Please keep doing these "the insert amp name here sound" videos.
ОтветитьHi Rhett, Did I win the Sodano Amp ? 😄😄😄😄 , my gear got stolen a while ago and really need an amp so i can get back out playing !!!
ОтветитьSo would you qualify this as the middle ground/hybrid of an Orange and Vox that I asked about in another video?
ОтветитьSoldano. I remember Clapton playing this amp. "Wonderful Tonight". EEF! What a tone! Now we are going WAY back! A show called "Sunday night". Back in the late 1980's. They had all the best musicians jamming. Clapton. Robert Cray. Of course the show only stayed on TV for about 2 seasons.
ОтветитьI have had a Soldano SLO 100 and it was killer ! Had to sell because bring up a family ! U miss it bad ! Baddass tone and clean tone is to die for ! The company went through different hands and I was going to buy and thought twice about it ! But I heard he building his amps again ! Not 100 % sure about it ! But I wish I still had my old one !
ОтветитьGreat vid! Gonna make me poor now
ОтветитьWhat kind of Neck Pickup on Rhett's Tele'???? The one with the offset screws.
Ответитьhahaha I had the same looks and nods as you when Mike Soldano was speaking
ОтветитьI could never afford one of these amps (even the SLO30 is 5 grand here in Australia !) but I can afford a Headrush and this is pretty much the only amp model I use 😂
ОтветитьWow
I never even cared about this amp until now.
Great Amp and the 50 Watt version is pretty awesome too.
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьHi Rhett, fantastic video. Really looking for some insight between the SLO 30 and SLO100. I have played the 30 and sounds REALLY good but really love the girth of that big iron in 100 watt heads. I have read many people say that 30 sounds huge, but can’t help but think the hundred will sound much bigger. Can you give me some insight? Also, can the effects level on the back of the 100 allow you to get the master volume up and its happy place without being stupid loud? Thanks brother, really love the channel!
ОтветитьLove my SLO100.
ОтветитьWhy does everybody forget about Bogner?
ОтветитьAmazing high gain, crunch and clean sounds. I got a SLO30 about a year ago and couldn’t be happier with it. I put a Strymon el-Capistan through the fx loop for delay and reverb, plug straight in the front with the guitar and there it is, ‘that’ sound my ears have been trying to find for over 30 years! Couldn’t be happier with it.
ОтветитьDo you notice everybody's trying to copy the Marshall look it's sad just buy a Marshalls you don't need that trash!
ОтветитьYour Bass playing is really improving too! Good pocket on this!!!
ОтветитьI saw Gary Moore's personal Soldano for sale in London, about 30 years ago. I think it was going for £1200. It would have been total overkill (2x12, 120 watts), but would have been cool to own.
ОтветитьLots of guys love Soldano, but they have never done it for me. We are all different and just find what works for you.
ОтветитьGood stuff!, Thanks for the vid!
ОтветитьSLO is the king!
Wow! Interesting story for the essence of the circuit: lots of research and a touch of luck.
SLO is legendary for a reason: the first preamp with real gain/compression progressively. Exactly what make crancked tube amps cool.
Dammit - now I want one. Were you playing through the Ox? If so, please share your speaker settings. Thanks!
ОтветитьHow did you manage to get through this whole video without any mention of Eddie Van Halen or the fact that this amp was also one of the fact that the Peavey 5150 was basically a rip of this?
ОтветитьThe most versatile of the Eddie Van Halen style amps. While all the 5150 amps that Eddie would go on to base on this amp sound great for 80s hard rock and modern metal, this one also sounds tremendous for classic rock and blues at the lower gain settings. Just ask Eric Clapton.
