From a cold start my aircrafts hover engines are locked open, how do i close them? I tried just taking off from a hover then clicking the button to disengage it but it stays open, how come?

The aircraft probably pitches during the transition from vertical to horizontal flight because of the vectoring nozzles on the main engines. Obviously, it depends on the relationship between center of thrust (CoT) and center of gravity (CG), but generally speaking almost any tilt-jet is going to have this tendecy. Basically, any angle between vertical and horizontal on the thrust vectoring is going to cause some sort of pitching moment because of a misallignment between the CoT and CG vectors that ideally? should be mitigated with thrust differential and PID control if possible. Not sure if the Do 31 has this complete ability. As for the rolling right tendency I have no idea. Anyways cool demonstration video!

A truly wonderful aircraft that just doesn’t cut it. Inibuilds ego is too unhealthy, and falsely resembles authenticity through their undercooked work.

Hardly a thing from them seems to work on Xbox, which is not a good for a community that is passionate for wanting quality representation of products.

Genuinely I’m not appreciative for them as I once thought.

Really happy to see an aircraft that stands out from the others.
Shame there's not really any ground equipment. It's not exactly necessary but I do quite like it for screenshot purposes.

Also the Dornier Museum is well worth a visit if you're ever near Friedrichshafen.
Can easily combine that with a visit to Lindau or Immenstaad am Bodensee for some dinner / drinks at the shores of Lake Constance.
Ah yes, travel tips under a flight simulation video me. Just where they belong

Another plane from the past!Instead of some 737-200, 727, 747-200, DC-9...these relics keep coming out! Free or paid...Thank God, there are people who have resurrected these FSX ones, but gentlemen! Finally, could someone develop some "view from the tower like in FS2004 or Fsx?! My opinion!

Hello sir! Great video as always.

I have a funny story about this airplane. When I lived in Southern Oregon, I met the test pilot Dornier hired to fly this beast.

His name was Drury Wood and he was from the golden age of American test pilots, WW2 Navy vet flying corsairs then post war civilian test pilot.

We hit it off as I am a long time aviation guy and chatting further it was evident he was very proud of working for Dornier on this project. I believe he flew it at the Paris and Farnborough air shows around 1969 1970 ish
He was in his late 80s when I met him and one day he showed at my work and gave me a bunch of photos and a video dvd all taken during the project.

After seeing this AC for the sim I need to dig them out of storage and have a look again at them

Small , small world

why is the left stick canted toward the left (as i would imagine it would so you can fly with your left hand leaving your right to manipulate the center controls) but the thumb pickle button seems shaped for your right hand. a bit confusing there.

I guess the odd trastion from vertical to horizal flight being weird is how MSFS handles stall it really seemed like it though you were stalling so it was dipping your wing.

Captain Ted is there water running through those engines like a newer VSTOL would have? Or air cooling only?
As usual awesome well documented, well read easy to understand for us low hour pilots you make it seam so easy and it's NOT an easy plane to fly by any means! Again Great video your a blessing and as others have said should have watched this video before attempting to fly such a complexed aircraft. Ty sir id fly with you anytime

Any chance they could be using a heavily modified helicopter flight model and the right hand wing drop is due to the left over rotor torque and tail rotor physics?

X-Plane could have simulated this aircraft much better. The FM for this in MSFS is laughable. If they uncouple the main engine vector thrust from the lift engine thrust, it would be a little better. Its nicely modeled though.

Why they spend time and resource on those? There are a MILLION problems already to be solved into the sim... Maybe they´re just wating for the 2024 version to solve some, and than 2026 to sove some others, just as Apple does...

OH GAWD DARNIT, I promised myself to not get any new aircraft this month!!! Then they go and bring out this amazingly odd and wild machine. That nicely done an most likely very accurate flight deck is likely due to the fact the actual machine still exists. They do need to soften up that landing gear as there appeared no compression at all. The visual model though is really well done. Gonna let some time to go by before getting it, but I will be getting it. I love odd ball aircraft like this.
