Thanks Egidio!!!
ОтветитьThe SG wasn't called Les Paul cause Les HATED the design.
ОтветитьGreat sounds. Loved the Les Paul sound and this Master makes any guitar sound like a Special Instrument. (4:30 a very unique sound. Fantastic.:-)) Sure allows some beautiful voicing from the artists essence. Fantastic. (6:11 chills going down my spine.;-) When you want to prove a point, doesn't the darn thing not do what you want to prove your point. God I hate that. :-)) Love hearing how musicians use their guitars. Great gem of a share. Thanks for this 2nd part I was heading there too.:)
ОтветитьThanks for all the rare uploads Egidio, they're so fantastic
ОтветитьGreat to see Big John Stud again!!!
ОтветитьSweet collection of axes, Dave. I only wish you'd have run through some XTC licks
ОтветитьThis series of Dave Gregory's vintage guitars is just great - thanks for uploading them!
ОтветитьA great collection of guitars and very informative stuff from Dave...great post !!...
ОтветитьUnique sound. I always wonder how SRV, Santana, Jimi etc. they can just play a note and you know it's them on guitar. How is that?
ОтветитьDave Gregory RULES!!!
ОтветитьDave gregory great guy, part of that XTC sound - and completely modest. Kudos Dave.
ОтветитьHe tunes to Eb
ОтветитьHello Dave, I think we met late 60's I bought an AC 30 from you at your house in Purton, I still have my 63 Fiesta Red Strat bought from Jeff Kempster, Ive owned it since new, also I have rear 67 335 also from Kempsters in Burgundy Red, and a Hofner Verithin with Bigsby serial number 99. Live now sometimes in Spain, played in many bands around Swindon, last one for over 30yrs on the dance band circuit Smiley Mac, in the 60's we were Stonewall Jackson. Nice playing enjoyed it very much. Cheers Terry
ОтветитьI wish more people would become XTC fans instead of this sacred music club that we are in
ОтветитьFunkafonix digs !
Ответитьbecause Les Paul didn't want to put his name on a guitar that had an exposed neck joint that he thought would break, and I'm not sure he liked the design either...
ОтветитьYou could hand Dave a walmart guitar and he would leave you with a tear in your eye.
ОтветитьSo which one was the one used in "Shaving Brush Boogie" where Andy said "Hey Gregs, pick up the ol'... Les Paul"
ОтветитьDave is the best! They were building all of these legendary Gibson’s miles from my home growing up. Have run across a few of the old Gibson luthiers and guitars over the years but they are scattered to all ends of the earth now.
ОтветитьNeed to try an SG!!
Ответитьhard to tell what the guitar sounds like when you have the greatest guitarist playing it.
ОтветитьThought the bloke on the right was a cardboard cut out at first
ОтветитьI've never particularly liked three pickup Les Pauls and SGs. They're too cluttered looking for me. Didn't Sister Rosetta Tharpe play one just like Dave's?
ОтветитьThose SGs are and sound fabulous. Are they through a Matchless?
ОтветитьSo much knowledge! Thank you!
ОтветитьI really enjoyed this video! Genuine, musically talented and intelligent person sharing some of his instruments and thoughts. Thanks Dave!
ОтветитьLoved XTC from 77 but when Dave joined they became sublime .
ОтветитьI see those white/cream SG Custom guitars and I immediately think of Michael Bruce and Glen Buxton of the original "Alice Cooper Band." They killed with these! Wahi' Valleys
ОтветитьBefore I buy a guitar, I listen to the tone unplugged before I plug it in to an amp, totally agree with dave Gregory’s comment 👍
ОтветитьI attended an in-store meet-n-greet with XTC when they where doing their radio station tour to support Oranges & Lemons. There was a throng of people surrounding Andy Partridge in the middle of the store while Colin and Dave were off in the corner looking amused. I had a little speech worked out about how much I enjoyed Dave's playing and how much it added to the band's sound. But when I made it over to him all I could do was shake his hand and say "gagagagag".
ОтветитьI’ve got his Fender bronco
ОтветитьAstonishingly great guitarist
ОтветитьHis work with BIG BIG TRAIN was phenomenal
