Aloha BrewTube:
In this episode of DJs BrewTube I review Stone RuinTen IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA is a DIPA that clocks in at, 10.8% ABV. Stone describes RuinTen IPA as follows:
"We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome."
This all sounds really nice. Let's see if it lives up to its grand description. Enjoy the review..... Written review follows:
Stone RuinTen IPA Written REVIEW:
A: Stone RuinTen pours a deep, hazy copper color with a solid 3 finger head that quickly forms and sticks around for a bit. Decent lacing on the glass and plenty of alcohol legs..
S: BAM!!!! Citrus Hop, Pine hop, Tropical Fruit Hop and big Dank Hop aromas attach their self to you sense of smell and don't let go. So many citric, grassy and piney notes come to the nose immediately and this just smells plain awesome. Also get some sweetness from the malt and a hint of citrus fruit. All this is rounded out by some sweet caramel and biscuity malt character. No alcohol aroma was detected.
T: The taste follows the nose really well. Citrus, pine, tropical fruit and dank hoppiness are big and in your face. All this is rounded out by some sweet caramel and biscuity malt character. In a nutshell the taste of this beer is basically Ruination IPA of Steroids. YUM!!
M: Medium-bodied, spot on carbonation, super smooth and dangerously easy to drink . A bit of burn from the alcohol a it goes down at first, but I'd never guess that this is a 10.8% ABV fueled hop bomb.
O: Stone RuinTen is today what Ruination was 11 years ago, a beer that is not for the faint of heart / non-hop head. This said, if you like you IPAs big, burley and in your face coupled with a big, sneaky alcohol punch then this is the beer for you. It is certainly the one for me. Glad I bought two bottles.
Serving Type: 22 oz Bottle
