Smart Home Security System Built For Apple HomeKit: Abode Smart Security! [Sponsored]

Hi there, I really enjoy your videos, I just subscribed! I was hoping you could share some insight on a DIY security system. I’ve installed many hard-wired DSC systems over the years and I’m definitely old school and not a big fan of wireless setups.
That said, we’re moving into a new home where hard-wiring would require a lot of destructive wall work, especially since there’s no basement. I’ve been looking into the system you featured because I understand it doesn’t use the typical 433.92 MHz frequency, which is known to be easily compromised. I’m not exactly sure what it does use, but it seems more secure than systems like SimpliSafe and other popular options. I realize the video is a couple of years old and was wondering if there have been any updates or changes you’d recommend. Also, does this system transmit over Wi-Fi, cellular, or both? What happens when the wifi goes out? Also for example if I get the Eufy cameras it can work with the system?

Do they offer fire alarms too?

You still use abode?

HomeKit is for none experienced user, lack of automations or just a little of that, no for who wants iot in your house, if so go for home assistant.

Really like the looks of this for one if not both of my small businesses. I have a long, fairly narrow 2,050 sq ft space, with two entrances and a front and back window to cover. Hoping that I won’t need an extender, but the fact that it works with HomeKit is more important.

The security system does work well and integrate with HomeKit BUT any additional security cameras from Abode do not integrate so they make you use their own app. That’s the only drawback is you can’t have additional cameras other than iota in the Home app.

You should do a video on how HomeKit actually works with this product.

So annoying every system needing their own hub!

Odd that they don’t have a doorbell. We need more HomeKit doorbell options as well.

Now if this can send alarms to Apple Watch while I’m asleep using hapatics this will be a game changer. I’m Deaf so traditional home alarms do not work

I can see the appeal for users who haven’t invested in HomeBridge. That said, for those of us who have HomeBridge we already have all of this functional and much more.

We just bought this system two weeks ago through Abode and love it. We have had ADT, Ring and Alula systems in the past but this system is the best and most affordable system we have ever owned. Easy to setup and works great with Apple system.
