I have owned the FB special Sedan for 6 month's, the EH Special Sedan 4 1/2 year's the HK panel Van 1 year, A Lc Torana 1 year, HQ Premier Sedan nearly 25 year's..... And Now Currently the VX Calais Series 1 Sedan, 2 year's so far....l have alway's been a Holden Lover

Here in Brazil, the Holden Commodore was sold as Chevrolet Omega from 1998 to 2011. Such a great car! Big, comfortable, powerful and reliable.

The first Holden had an engine that looked very much like the 2.5 litre engine of the Opel Kapitän (Captain) of 1939.
Later Holdens looked like contemporary Opels in Europe, but with larger and more powerful engines...

Simply...Holden made "1 CAR" in ALL that time...a RWD family sedan and didn't move with tech and the times and were left behind. You just CAN'T run a company like that and expect to survive...and they didnt

Holden GMH was about as Australian as McDonald’s.

so sad - had to send my FJ off to Shannons this week. Will be greatly missed but I can no longer drive her or maintain her so I'm hoping she goes to a new owner who will appreciate her as I did.

My dad and cousin had second hand FXs, correctly 48-215s, in 1960s. These cars would have been pushed to achieve 80 mph. For other cars cable of 100 mph, recall the term doing “the ton”?

My Dad had an old FJ ute he used it in the bush around Manjimup. You could by them for $20 . He then used an EH ute for work. Collected rain water on the vinyl canopy. Lift the Dot. My first Holden was an EJ Station Wagon wirh a silent running 129 Grey motor. It had a Diamond Dot radio but no heater demister. I drove around Albanys cold wet winters in a jacket and ugg boots. Wow....then came a HK Kingswood....HGs...HQs....panel vans and cars. Even a 1 tonne ute with no side panels that my dog fell off a number of times at low speed when he saw roos. Now I have a 2006 Adventra lx for 13 years hoping it goes up in value....use it for long trips and firewood cutting. Thats 55 years of Holdens there people! And I was born in Wales!

Hilarious, the 48-215 was not designed in Australia it was designed by the GM America after they laughed at the Aussie design. Get ya facts straight guys.

They had it so easy just building the same car then with a change of a grill or tail light or mayby both and call it a new model. Than once the tariffs started heading south by our governments the writing was on the walls

Hi Holden lovers, i am now 66 years old. spent my life in cars. during the 50's the trail began in a Morris 850 side valve Minor then an 1500 Morris Major but in '64 dad came home with a brand new 179 EH wagon then in '66 a new HR 186 again a wagon by 1971 i got my first car a '64 mini with a 1100 cooper motor under the hood pranged it and in '72 got a 66 mini delux & gave it the 1100 transplant then rust. '73 got a '70 series LC Torana the love , 2250cc 95 bhp 3 on the tree (what a monster), being 19 or so this couldn't stop here, a 186 bored with a Bathurst, cam from Bert Jones a stage 3 yellow terra head & 350 Holley , 4 speed aussie box and a pair of the first Recaro Freeway recliners seats, even chucked in a air con, sound to match. it was arguably on of the quickest "Ts" on the north shore (Sydney) But all things must pass, sold it ( Who New) bought a Brand New VB 107 sports pac Commodore ( look it up only built a couple of hundred ) only ever saw 3. 4.2 4 speed all the SL & SLE 4 Disc ,Power steer ect options. after 20 + years of service & 500.000 k got a second hand VL & a couple of Ford AU ( again with the wagons) But now I have passed the baton on to the sons 1 got a VX & a VL project car & a VX SS (what a beast) sold the std VX to No. 2 son. Me got a VE Wag now. But regrettably the last real Aus car has now passed into history the General & Henery sold us out now we import from every else like china & korea even the Japanese make off shore lucky we got the roads for the cars not the cars built for our whole country such is world economy . Just lucky to have enjoyed most of it!

That's disgusting, sell out government again? They should ban all foreign cars unless made in Australia, if countries did this they'd still have a motor industry to call their own, or make imports too expensive with taxes to render them not worth it. RIP Holden, even as a pom I'm sad to hear it.

Will the Australian motor industry ever make a comeback? Australia is capable of doing a lot of things. I would hope they can start manufacturing cars again.
