I signed up for AOD 6 months ago. I am a Producer and Story Work Editor for NatGeo and a Writer for PBS Kids. Even though I’ve been in the game for years with winning awards along the way, I still learned from this class. There were also some techniques that I haven’t done in years and the class reminded me of them. If anything, listening and watching these classes, kept me in the film mode and had me constantly thinking about how I am going to go about making my upcoming documentary. Worth every penny.
ОтветитьGreat content, mate! Keep it up!
ОтветитьLove this! How did you avoid glasses shadows on your face?
ОтветитьHi Mark. I am very disappointed. It looks like I missed the current AOD. If there is any way for me to join in or to participate by watching videos--please let me know. Thank you.
ОтветитьWould love to sign up for your course but I have a policy of not engaging with anything that does not put their pricing policy front and centre.
ОтветитьGreat information. Clear and Straight to the point
ОтветитьThanks for this Mark! Love seeing these broken down. You usually see a range of them used in a documentary. I have to say my personal favourite is the 'In the Moment' interview
ОтветитьHaving said that, great video Mark. I'm really enjoying your content as I start my documentary making thought journey (so far).
ОтветитьHow much is the module ?
ОтветитьGreat information. I wish in our schools there were courses in many things beyond trying to stay awake listening to a boring teacher on a political rant. Shops in this area would be a hit as so many people now use cellphones and these inexpensive video cameras. In my day, it was stills and video tape (ugg). Today the world has opened up like never before. Teaching people to make videos that capture one's attention is very important. These kids who grow into young adults and on are our new news broadcasters. The MSM is veritually dead, locked into an agenda controlled by the elite, while these new kids can bring us things the MSM refuses to show. Keep up the good work.
BTW I'm going to turn my daughter onto your videos and others as I am gifting her a new Sony ZV-E10. She and her hubby run a Cross Fit gym and created videos from time to time. Maybe she can get excited about going beyond boring videos.
My dude! This was EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you so much!!!
ОтветитьWow! This was so so helpful to me. Thank you so much
ОтветитьWas the broll offline intentionally??
Ответить“You’re beautiful in every single way, don’t let anyone ever tell you that.”
Thanks,…. I guess 🤷🏾♂️🤨
Thank you , I needed this yesterday and your video showed up in my TL. Mark would you mind telling me what are the camera settings you used when you are in camera , I love that look , Thanks man👍
ОтветитьGreat job D, but can I give you one little piece of advice which i am sure you will not take lol. Slow down, your pace is too fast and is distracting, you can still be entertaining while speaking in a realistic pace. I know it’s your style and i get it but when you blow through all that vast knowledge you have for style it makes me say “ might as well go with the guys that are trying to teach not trying to be stylistic”. You’re too smart to have to have a hook like that bro. Just a thought from an ex radio announcer.
ОтветитьThank you very much mark .
Well I am just trying to form some shooting scenario in my mind :
Take 2 full frame video cameras, one with 50mm and one with 85mm, and I make a conversation where I’m the host and part of the frame with the subject in the frame of the camera with the 50mm and my subject has the camera with 85mm directed just on him for close ups, and then in editing I can interleave between these two
this was wildly helpful. Thank you so much.
ОтветитьI have a client looking to do a sit down conversational style doc. Would it be off-putting to add B-roll? AOD fam in the building! 🎥✨
ОтветитьErrol Morris' 'Wormwood' would of been worth a mention along with others who break the conventions.
ОтветитьSuper interested in joining
ОтветитьSo my question is with standard, does the talent seem to be looking into space or are you directing them to look at something just right off from the camera?
ОтветитьThe data collected has to be absolutely correct, so we usually do several weeks of research to make a documentary film, right?
ОтветитьHey Mark! Amazing channel! Is there a coupon code to sign up for Module 1 or just the early bird special? I’m very interested in learning but I’m totally starting from scratch!
ОтветитьThank you for this
ОтветитьOne thing I love about your videos, is without fail they always get me HYPED to work on docs I’ve been wanting to make. I’ve only ever done one from start to finish but hoping to have a handful done by the end of the year, I’ve been doing corporate/product video for quite a few years but have always been drawn to the doc. even if they’re just short little fun ones with local people, I need to create something to scratch that itch. Appreciate you brother 🤘🏻
ОтветитьYeah watching this while packing for tomorrows trip to interview a chef. All good stuff as always 💯🥃
Ответитьwow thats cool
Ответить🎉great job of giving this lessons
Ответитьwhat you call “in the moment” I call “Active interview”
ОтветитьHi mark, would you make a video about “how to shoot a documentary like the office”? Meaning what it takes to pull of the look and feel. I know you have to have zooms, quick pans, and interviews but is there more to it?
ОтветитьYou ever find that B-Roll! 😂 That was great! 😊
ОтветитьVery useful, thank you very much :)
ОтветитьDo you work in general with 2 or 1 cameras for your documentary work ?
ОтветитьNice video, I peeped that Media offline tho
ОтветитьWould u use haze for a corporate interview
ОтветитьHope to never see History Channel interrupting talking head with irrelevant comments style ever again.
ОтветитьInterrotron is pleasing style.
ОтветитьSide angles are annoying.
ОтветитьHi Mark, i want the company to buy your artofdocumentary but the website is not working properly and the font is super hard to read. Hard to persuade the department to buy it when it looks like this. Any chance to change this or buy it through some thirdparty where it looks professional? Sorry for such a request but it is like. Hoping you fix it thanks !
ОтветитьMan, I love your channel. Shooting a documentary about beekeepers and all this is so good to come back to and see another documentarian's perspective on shooting. Thanks brother!
ОтветитьThank you for this video, I’m working on a interview style doc with my business partner and I’m 100% sure that this will help us a lot.
ОтветитьThank you!!:))
ОтветитьGreat job Mark!!
