"When the light turns green, we will make sure the intersection is clear."
I wish this part was repeated a few dozen times for those in the back.
I liked several things in your video. There are some that I disagree with. One I think may have been wrong. First of all I spoke to a Police officer about right of way rules. The law does not state who "HAS" the right of way. It states who is supposed to "YIELD" the right of way to whom. You did not discuss the pedestrian right of way rules. The misconception is that the pedestrian has the right of way. You are to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk at an uncontrolled intersection. If the intersection is controlled by a signal light then the light dictates who should yield. A pedestrian crossing in the middle of a block ( frequently called "Jay walking which can be a ticket able offense") does not have the right of way. The Officer also stated that if you hit someone in the street even though they were not entitled to the right of way and it went to court you would most likely loose.
Where you showed three cars at an intersection with four stop signs arriving simultaneously the car to far right should go first then the car on it's left then the last car. There is no law stating that only one vehicle can be in the intersection at a time. The two cars facing each other can go together. The same is true when two cars are facing each other are making right turns.
I noticed that one street you pulled onto had all the parked vehicles facing you. It looks like you turned the wrong way onto a one way street or all the cars on the right were parked illegally.
I liked the point where you noticed the truck turning in front of you. You used common sense and "YIELDED" the right even though you legally didn't have to.
There is a lot to be said for rules of the road and defensive driving but our road systems were not designed with them in mind. If everyone followed the defensive driving rule such as at an intersection with a light you should stop so you can see roadway behind the tires of the vehicle ahead of you. If everyone did that you couldn't move enough traffic and would shortly have traffic backed up for blocks. It would be nice and safe but unrealistic.
Thank for this video.
ОтветитьVery valuable information. You can feel like you are teaching this from your heart. Thank you!

ОтветитьClear explanation, followed by demonstration.
Thank you for your time.
New Subscriber in your Channel ' THANK you so much for Sharing 😊
ОтветитьGood explanation
Ответитьyour examples are too easy. i drove 4 way stops today for the first time. and I never saw anything as easy as yours. I saw people arriving at same time, lots of different cross traffic. some people stop, some people don't. this guide was waay too basic. and yeah nobody follows the rules. just look at the lady who went past the bus with stop signs. there are rules.. and then there are real life society and agreed norm rules.
ОтветитьDon't know where you are, but not all states require you to come to a stop for a pedestrian waiting to cross the road not at a controlled intersection or marked cross walk. It's the pedestrian's responsibility to wait until safe to cross.
ОтветитьLearned something new about school buses. Will be taking my driving test in 2 weeks
ОтветитьThank you so much! You are a great TEACHER ❤
ОтветитьI'm here for two reasons. The first is for me to learn new English🇬🇧 vocabulary related to driving. And I'm also improving my driving skills and since I'm from Brazil 🇧🇷 traffic is a little different from here.

ОтветитьHi! Thanks for your videos! I’m preparing for my USA vacation. You explained at the beginning, that on green light or if there is no stop sign, one has the right of way. What shall I do in an unregulated intersection? With no sign on every end, everybody can assume they have the right of way, which would be disastrous.
ОтветитьU like this more but the other guy is more informative a combination between the two is the best. Glad I did have a driving licence they switched my medications , sleeping pills,… it’s very unsafe -not having a driving licence saved not only my life.
ОтветитьYou are a good instructor.very gently and easy to understand. 😊 in still in fear driving in a main road.
ОтветитьVery nice video mam
ОтветитьBeing from Europe I've never ever seen a 4 way stop intersection. We only have a two way stop and at uncontrolled intersections we always give way to the right. It's my firm belief that roundabouts are way safer than 4 way stop intersections since they significantly reduce fatal T bone collisions. That's because the shape of the roundabout itself forces drivers to slow down, whereas it's way easier for an inconsiderate driver to blaze full speed through a stop sign and cause a potentially deadly car crash. Is there a specific reason why the US doesn't replace all 4 way stop intersections with roundabouts? Just curious
ОтветитьGreat 👍 tips 👍
