To Clarify: We actually think Josh’s video is great, as mentioned several times in our reaction. Though we question whether or not this video is the first thing a new or prospective brewer should see if they’re looking for a solid resource on making beer. For example, @thebrusho has an entire channel full of videos that rival the production quality of Josh’s vid, but with more relevant and accurate information (because @Thebrusho is a highly experienced home brewer!!!). Why not introduce a newbie to a resource like that instead of directing them to a guy who made a one-off brewing video containing outdated information?
ОтветитьWhen i started brewing over 12 yrs ago I started with Craigtube. Those videos I would recomend for first time brewers. I say this not to be an ass but brewers now days flash the lambos of setup's causing new brewers to fail because they think that they need the flashy equipment to start. When in reality they only need a good brew bucket and bottles to start. New brewers need to learn how to crawl before thay can run.
ОтветитьYou know i was thinking what is molasses then i research and found out its one of the most common thing in my country and we have lots of varieties of them. And we use them on lot of food 😂😂
ОтветитьIs it possible to grow more yeast out of yeast?
ОтветитьCancel culture vid
ОтветитьYeah 3 to 5 gallons glass carboys are definitely a hazard, but for a small 1 gallon batch, 1 gallon glass carboys are perfect
ОтветитьThanks for your honesty and not selling yourself out ❤ that's worth a like.
ОтветитьHahahah You have a pain in the ass thats all 😅
ОтветитьGlass has to be less chemically invasive than plastic though no?
ОтветитьI like to use glass carboys because it makes me feel like an old timey scientist and it teaches me dicipline as far as thinking about the characteristics of different reactions. Which is what old timey scientists had to think about.
ОтветитьGreat break down. When I first started looking for videos on Home brewing I seen Josh's video first and stopped watching it about 2 minutes in. Couldn't stand his voice or face. Then came across claw hammer videos and was also turned off cause it seemed to be to silly to me. Ultimately I found The brushow and apartment brewer and watched the hell out of their videos. After brewing for a little while I now enjoy watching claw hammer videos cause you guys are silly and I can still pick up great tid-bits of helpful information now that I know more about the names and terms of things related to brewing. Still cant finish watching Josh's video though. lol
ОтветитьGonna stick to my cars fuck this. Someone else can make beer. 👍
Ответитьexcellent video!
ОтветитьI used like 9 glass carboy for years Idk lol they clean super well and dont scratch like plastic and pretty cheap to find used
ОтветитьDude you came off so sour about josh’s success, sure i bet you can make better beer but he introduced me to beer making
ОтветитьYou didn't really provide any examples of what should be the #1 video.
Although from someone who doesn't know anything about home brewing this is a great response to the video.
u don't have to make brewing beer your personality to brew beer
ОтветитьYou could also add @beerstories to your list :)
ОтветитьI started brewing quite a few years ago, so I do still ferment with the glass carboys I have. One thing I wouldn't do is touch a wet/full carboy without a secured handle.
ОтветитьThat video is what inspire me to learn and deepened my brewing skill
ОтветитьBrewing in next couple weeks. Great informational video! @JoshuaWeissman and @AltonBrown beer brewing videos make me feel like I can. They make it look easy. 🙌🏽 Researching the safe, proper, and tips from pros makes the process successful. Thanks cheers!
ОтветитьCan you guys make a glycol chilled frost bar to keep my beer frosty cold :). I see no videos on how to do it. Saw it once at a brewery on Mt Hood in Oregon.
ОтветитьJoshua's video is what made me begin my homebrewing odyssey!
Ответитьmaybe he doesn't like beer 'cause he started with a homemade saison haha. some of the local micro and nano brewers round my parts have made some very light saisons with a lot of finesse, but I can't imagine achieving that as a new homebrewer! for me it was that spicy/sharp flavour profile, often completely overbearing. sort of like trying to eat hot peppers for the first time, something you should do by using a tiny amount mixed in with the right food.
ОтветитьEvery small or larger channel should be thanking Josh for utilizing his platform to bring more folks to this awesome hobby!
ОтветитьHello! I just became a fan of the channel and recently got into making beer myself. I see that you make quality craft beers. Would you be interested in a challenge? I have gone to the feed store to get my grains and made some not so bad beers to save money. Could you get a sack of COB? It is a cow fees that has Corn Oats Barley and Molasses. Would you be willing to make a beet out of this and of course and anything else you like. Rice, hops orange peels If you find it fitting. I think this would be a fun challenge in making veer on the cheap.
Ответитьwell done
ОтветитьHave you asked him to come do a drew day with you
ОтветитьJoshua's video brought me back to homebrewing after 15 years almost. He is easy to understand. I didn't use that recipe or that equipment. but general tips and how to's.
ОтветитьHmmm. I've brewed a few beers. I've watched a few of Weissman's videos, though not this one (aside from what I've seen in the various reaction videos). I also remember watching Alton Brown's episode of Good Eats where he took a crack at brewing, long before I started brewing myself--and even then I was noticing problems. But it did pique my interest in the subject (I'm kind of weird; I was interested in brewing beer long before I was interested in drinking it), and I expect Weissman's video will do the same (as it seems, from the comments here and elsewhere, it has done).
The Good Eats episode aired 20 years ago, and I think he can be forgiven for not referring his viewers to many of today's resources--he did highly recommend the LHBS, which was a good recommendation for the time. It's a pity Weissman didn't link to some of the bigger brewing channels or sites as a "for further study" thing, though.
I subscribe Joshua cause his recipes are damm delicious. And I had to admit that it was also him who bring me to this hobby. Cause I saw that video via my recomended and I was like "Is it really that simple ? Lemme try :D Since that day it´s been 2 years and I´ve brew almost 20 batches of beer ... But still no saison :D So I actually understand what r you trying to say.
ОтветитьJeez, man. You had this guy in your crosshairs. I can say a lot of problems with your videos, yet you keep producing them.
ОтветитьWhile I agree with some of your points. I have been brewing in glass carboys for well over 30 years and have never had one break if handled properly. I agree that aeration can be difficult if you go about it in an unsafe manner like trying to shake it. That being said I have used a standard fish tank pump with an airline filter and aeration stone for years with no issue. When I did not have those I used a solid bung and rolled the carboy on its side with no issue either. I understand the accessibility to more advanced homebrewing equipment at more reasonable prices has made carboys fall out of grace with many. I can say that there are by far many who like myself rather the glass over the stainless. At this point in time, I run about 8 5gal carboys as primary and 8 6.5 as my secondary fermentors. The key with Glass carboys is attention to detail. most times when there's an accident it is due to not paying attention. Like anything not taking things into consideration or paying attention is what causes accidents to happen.
ОтветитьYou provide nitpicking feedback on the other video and then you show saison dupont talking about french saison, come on!
ОтветитьI hope nobody thinks u guys r being dinks about that video. The homebrew/brewing community actually wants anyone interesting brewing beer to be able to make good beer. We really r rooting for u! If u learn anything from this video, do ur research like the rest of us and don't rely on 1 reference. Nobody is perfect.
ОтветитьI think the video was a nice introduction but I agree, even the best saison ever can be funky and yeasty and people who drink mainly macro lagers might think that they messed up. Besides that I think the video is mainly positive for homebrewing as a whole.
ОтветитьHey guys just wanted to let you know about 3 years ago I watched Joshua's beer video and became addicted to the hobby. I then started to look for other people's take on beer making. Witch led me to using your equipment and flowing a lot of recipes frome the home brew challenge and a lot of the others you showed in this video. I appreciate all of you to help me grow with a fantastic hobby. I guess you could say joshua was my gateway drug to home brew and you are now my head shop. Hope you guys can collaborate and get more people into home brew and more into cooking at home. Also looking forward into distilling in the near future and know were to get a good setup 😉
ОтветитьAs a long time fan of both channels, I enjoyed Joshua's toe dip into the homebrew world, but 100% agree with the criticisms offered in this video. This is a great honest critique and was handled very politely. Kudos to the CHS team.
PS. Joshua's Crispy chicken sando recipe is other worldly levels of awesome.
I agree 100%... I sub his channel and think he is super great too... But you would think he give some love to the pros with few shout outs to other channels... At the end of the day I don't come to a brew channel to find out how to make the best pizza and I will not go to a food channel to find out how to brew the best NEIPA haha 😂😂😂 May you both keep kicking ass at what ya doooo
ОтветитьBrilliant video! Particularly the part where you said "we are not the channel for new people as we screw around far too much." 🤣🤣
ОтветитьExcellent video man, I cut my brewers teeth the home brew channels the you recommended, especially the apartment brewer and barley and hops
ОтветитьI love clawhammer supply! I gotten 2 still kits and I love them
Ответить
