you gotta check out endacopia by andyland it will come out q4 2024
Ответитьwhen people say gaming sucks they mean a lot of the new releases suck, I mean at the start of the pandemic you have to admit that the quality of most new releases really went downhill and the reason I say "most new releases" is because there have been a few exceptions like elden ring, ultrakill, cruelty sqaud, and many others. It is more difficult to find good games in 2024 then it was to find good games in 2016
ОтветитьGimmiko…
ОтветитьI dunno, I think the golden age of gaming was 20 years ago
ОтветитьI'm absolutely with you regarding Tacklebox. This free demo has enough content to be considered a full-fledged indie game, yet it's only a taste of what's to come in the full game (which will have even more mechanics)! It's definitely going to be the best platformer of the 2020's!
As for the people who made it, it's by the same guys who made Yo! Noid II. The whole grappling mechanic originates from there!
How do you find out about all of these games
Ответитьwhere the rainworld dlc at

ОтветитьAnyone else hyped for Hytale to come out?
ОтветитьGaming IS dead… somewhat
This is about AAA Games.
Creativity
Developers often used to have to work within extreme hardware limitations which resulted in creative problem-solving, outside the box thinking, and more innovation. This lead to more unique experiences within games and typically fresh ideas. When a new IP came out, you could expect it to feel like itself, since to make that game it likely required a lot of unique thinking and creative solutions to run and function on that days hardware. It did lead to failures, but despite that, this is where most well known and respected IP's/Studios came from as it defined their skills, great design, and unique games.
Todays developers which were likely inspired by these older games, have it much easier and get to benefit from the advance tools and engines we use today. This streamlines many trivial aspects of game development but also has a negative impact. This type of hand holding (technical wise) has proved the reliance on pre-built assets and features which leads to less innovation on a IP scale, less problem solving, and less originality. Combining this with the increased pressure to release games quickly to meet shareholder expectations and keep the company afloat, has lead to the killing of once loved IP's, creativity being massively hindered, and games being seen as a much more formulaic design process than a unique one, resulting in games feeling the same.
Modern Work Environments
"Crunch time" has become a guaranteed piece in todays process for game design. This has absolutely played a roll in the poor state of recent games and certainly lead some skilled developers to quit the field. These high pressure environments that expect you to put YOUR life on hold to try and finish this game as quickly as possible have shown just how much it can affect the bottom line and gives us rushed products with poor creativity. A recent example can be Cyberpunk 2077, I've looked forward to this game for a long, long time. However when it released, it was a mess and it has been highlighted that the development team endured intense work schedules close to release and we now see how that negatively impacted the game. On the flip side, with time on their side as most people have left from the problematic launch, they slowly started piecing together the game, bringing in new tech while keeping their unique style and it is resulted in, for me, a solid worth the money game experience.
Art Design
It seems todays modern games tend to prioritize life-like graphics and aim to bring realism closer and closer. The issue is, realism by itself is boring and bland to look at. Life is typically grey. You live in a major city? You'll know what I mean. I think this goal of realism is only ever truly successful is when it is stylized. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great recent example. It is clearly life-like, but it has a stylized take on this and the art design is carried throughout the game in all aspects. Loading screens, menus, UI, notifications, graphics. It is a cohesive experience with a unique style that speaks for itself. This leads to a game that you know it when you see it. I believe this is why older graphics are generally held to good regard in the gaming community. This is because, instead of focusing on perfect realism as it simply wasn't possible back then for the most part, games focused on THEIR art style, their art design, their story, their places for creativity. Each game became unique in all aspects, graphics, UI, stories.
Examples: Skyrim, Dishonored 2, Borderlands 2, Batman Arkham Knight, Last of Us, Shadow of the Colossus, Bioshock, Silent Hill, Fallout NV, Halo.
Realism isn't needed for successful games. Recent games don't always follow this though and do stand out in styles, Remnant 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring. However it does seem to be a trend that realism = good.
Microtransactions & Abuse of IP's
Publishers have had a massively noticeable shift towards DLC and most recently, microtransactions. This has changed our relationships with video games itself and brought us from escaping life in them to working to fund habits in them. This almost always directly affects how good a game is too. I mean this in the sense that games with heavy notes of microtransactions typically have horrible systems within the game to earn things for yourself and experience all the game has to offer. This ruins the players experience and overall leaves the game in a poorer state than it would have been without. The most common place to find microrotations was in multiplayer games for cool new guns, strong stats, armors, whatever it may be. However, it started to creep into single player games as well for the same type of items that you should be able to just find by playing. The bottom line isn't creating hooked/loyal fans anymore from your unique and creative game. It's milking a game for what they can and moving on to do it again.
On top of all that, Publishers are also bringing back old classic IP's that are highly regarded, just to try and profit off its nostalgia. This is highly exploitative and just deplorable behavior. Instead of taking an classic IP and giving it todays technology and potential game changing mechanics, they just slap it together it seems, throw in some microrotations and get mad when it doesn't meet their expectations.
Conclusion
Gaming is not what it was. While the industry evolves, it takes steps back and while their are diamonds in the rough or games that break the stereotypes and leave other publishers mad at its success (Baldurs Gate 3) it generally is just these massive studios pumping out games for a return to please shareholders by any means necessary. Creativity, uniqueness, innovation seems to all being dying in recent titles and the perks to improved technology seem to be resulting in more lazy games with more rushed timelines, leaving developers no room to grow while monetization takes over.
Gaming SHOULD be at its peek right now, it should be at its best. It isn't, it's closer to its most stale and most broken its ever been.
Yep I have been saying it since 2022, it is indeed a golden age, the previous one was in the 1996-1998 era. You'd might desire the 2001-2002 era to be golden era too for but that was not a golden era for gaming, it was however the sparks of internet that transformed gaming forever.
ОтветитьHow is CS2 unplayable??? I play it everynight and I am having fun grinding the premium ranking ladder. People are stuck into their prejudice, CS2 is just fine, sure you might suspect some hacking but most of the time it's just smurfs trust me. There are a few games where I SUSPECT a hacker but so far everytime I watch the replay I find it nothing hinting to hacking, I don't rewatch ALL mmy game obviously but the experience on the ladder got a LOT better than it was around the christmas period this year. Right now I enjoy it as much as CSGO if not slightly more. There will always be people bitching about technical details, it never stopped for CSGO there was always a group of angry people but honestly the only thing the game is missing right now are other modes.
ОтветитьI might sounds weird but I am very excited for UFO50, this is so spot on to makes this era greatand what overall gamers are asking for, taking risk and showing creativity, doing it simple but doing it great.
