From the results I'd have to agree with shooting the flash through the umbrella is better than reflecting off it. The one way you didn't try was laying down the diffuser in front of Cara, or using some on camera flash fill at -1 stop.

Do they make diffuser umbrellas with vent holes like they do in golf umbrellas? That should help in the stong wind.

I wish you could produce a video on how to shoot people with very white skin outdoor in bright sunlight. It' easy photographing dark skinned/ tan people but my experience with white skin outdoors in bright sunlight is not good. I would appreciate it if you could help with this. Cara's skin is tan so it photographs well outside. Thank you for all your videos.

Hey Markus, have you tried the kind of diffuser that fits over the barrel of a lens for use with a hotshoe-mounted flash? I use one on a 105mm macro for flowers and on a 300mm telephoto for birds. A $9 investment!

Another negative to the softbox is that it is total shade as opposed to diffusion. Diffused sunlight is very beautiful. Thank you, Markus! (And, Cara!!!)
