Did you know that there is such a difference in the life of an officer and a sailor aboard an aircraft carrier? Do you think that's justified? Or should sailors also have the same rights as officers and good sleeping quarters ❓💙
ОтветитьAs a former Navy junior, the son of a Navy doctor who rose in rank to Captain, MC, USN, and having served as an enlisted hospital corpsman myself, I've long realized that some, or rather a few, enlisted personnel do not like officers as a whole. But it's a rather foolish and idiotic thought by any enlisted personnel when they don't like officers. The Navy should be looked at as a team. Different people are in different positions. Those who aspire to work their way up in the ranks---as the vast majority of Navy personnel do---are responsible for any and all the success that our Navy attains. Officers, that's to say the vast majority of them, realize that they are as dependent on enlisted crew members as the crew members are on them. My dad was the Navy captain. I never rose above the rank of Hospitalman (HN), or E-3. "The Navy is a family." I heard this many times while a Navy junior, many times while serving in the Navy, and many more times in the over fifty years that have passed since serving the the United States Navy. The Navy I truly and deeply love to this day. Andrew "Andy" McKane IV, Maunaloa, Hawaii.
ОтветитьThe commentator of this video is incorrect. A 4-year degree is NOT required to become a commissioned officer. One can obtained a Warrant or an LDO commission without a degree. A sailor is also a term used for commissioned officers too.
ОтветитьHold on a second! The sailors on carriers and subs eat very well! I've been inside the Captain's Quarters and yes, they are very nice. Definitely a higher standard of living. What bother me was the heads and showers for the enlisted were quite disgusting, something I hope has been remedied! As a civilian I enjoyed working on carriers very much and didn't witness any animosity between the crew or command!
ОтветитьIt is absolutely nuts to say Aircraft Carrier Sailors hate their officers. It simply is not true. This looks like Russian propoganda.
ОтветитьI'm still best friends with my LT to this day. I don't believe the headline on this one.
Ответитьplease dump the music....
ОтветитьAs a plane captain (A5 Vigilantes) my pilots depended on me for their safety for the most part. Basically it was my job to make sure the plane was air worthy. I always got along with them and they me. Our XO was a real asshole and nobody liked him. He got killed while landing( i wont go into detail)which was ok with most of us but the guy in the back seat was a good man.
ОтветитьI didn’t hate officers you have to teach them yeah. The ones on submarines were damn cool. Some of the most respected guys I ever knew the smartest people ever.
ОтветитьThe differences in room and board are not the issues between officers and enlisted. The difference is in how the officers utilize their power over the enlisted. A lot of officers get a superiority attitude over the enlisted. Sometimes an officer get a little too carried away with their egos and end up not getting promoted beyond O-3. Officers are held to different standards, such as conducting themselves properly, an enlisted are expected to get into trouble, whereas an officer can kiss their careers goodbye for committing the same offense as the enlisted that only got restriction. Also the smaller the command, the closer knit the officers and enlisted become.
ОтветитьThis is the same as any other job? Usually the more education you have , the more money and better life style are possible?
ОтветитьOfficers pay for their meals, but they recieve comrats as well.
ОтветитьI never hated Officers we had a good bunch. The only thing that bothered me is that they got peanut butter and we didn't. We got such a craven for peanut butter just because we knew we couldnt get it but we got over it and went about our business. More funny than serious.
ОтветитьWas PO of the mid watch , RADM Areligh Burke came out of his sea-cabin dressed in a bathrobe , Son May I have a cup of signal bridge coffee? He asks. I started to retrieve a cup from the water bucket for him, I’m the beggar son I’ll get it my self, with a grin. Fond memories.
ОтветитьVery informative.
ОтветитьOne way to move from enlisted to officer is get an education, etc, etc. The trip from E-1 to O-6 is possible and many of us have done it.
ОтветитьABF. USS America 1966 67.
ОтветитьI was on a cruiser and I imagine it is the same with most surface ships. Just like in life some people you like some you don't that is the same for officers and enlisted.
ОтветитьYou're wrong too about the food, it's exactly the same food as the enlisted mess decks.
ОтветитьYou're full of crap and have never served on a ship, and it shows.
ОтветитьI have my U.S. Navy TBM Avenger grandfather’s WWII Prep Charlie USS Wasp The Uninvited squadron carrier yearbook.
ОтветитьI was once a Shrimp Boat Captain. Lt Dan served as my first mate but wouldnt call me sir since he was my Lt Dan from when we was in Vietnam. We started Bubba Gump shrimp and made a gazillion dollars
ОтветитьGo college, go to OCS and quit whining
ОтветитьGaaaay
ОтветитьThis tradition was adopted from the British. It use to be the Marines were quartered between the Officers and Enlisted. This was to protect the Officers from the Enlisted because in days of old the enlisted were often “Shanghai’s” or were given a choice between sea time or prison time. It’s much better now. At least I hope.
ОтветитьHow is an aircraft carrier different than any other command in this regard?
ОтветитьSailors, Soldiers, or Airmen appreciate a good officer. However, enlisted reserve the right to bitch about everything, and that includes officers. To say they hate their officers, is an exaggeration, out of proportion.
ОтветитьSpent 2.5 years on USS HANCOCK CVA-19 1966-1968. It never occured to me to resent officers for their privilege and better living quarters. Used to joke about the pilots which were a little cocky and strutted like a peacock but being launched off a carrier and landing on one is not easy. As an enlisted man my status was dictated to some degree by my education and the USN trained me to repair shipboard air search radar. If being an officer was so important then acquiring the right education was necessary. Life on a carrier is so much better than living on a Destroyer, Cruiser of Submarine. The author of this question and statement comes from an entitlement and feel sorry for his ignorance.
ОтветитьEnsigns and LTJG's are about as worthless as you can get. Trying to tell enlisted people who have been doing their jobs for years how to do it.
Ответитьofficers should be paid for uniforms and food just like enisted are. This is a stupid regulation.
ОтветитьArizona Kennedy and saw some of their quarters wasn’t that impressed but at least they eat better
ОтветитьJunior officers have 4 and 6 man wardrooms. Senior officers like department heads, Commanders and above have single occupancy state rooms. This video was done by someone that knows very little about the navy.
ОтветитьEnlisted men should be paid extra for putting up with the lack of respect. They should be paid extra for enduring greater hardship when at sea due to lower living standards. Enlisted men should be referred to as Sir! Enlisted men should be paid extra due to having to live on a lower standard of food. All personal should receive extra pay for manual labor work due to the physical stress on the body. Enlisted men should be able to have full retirement after ten years of putting up with the bull shit they receive from narcissistic, arregent egotistical pussies that could not launch a bar of soap in their bath tub without a rope
ОтветитьAircraft Carriers- Never had the pleasure, being a Seabee for 20yrs. We had good officers and poor officers. If any were hated, it was usually by members of their own quarters. Sure, some enlisted may have hated them, but we mostly mocked them. Good officers are irreplaceable, valuable and know leadership. I'd follow some of the ones I knew straight into a machine gun nest. And, they would lead without reservation.
ОтветитьTechnically officers eat the same food, and enlistees pay for their food, it’s just that the money is taken out of the monthly salary.
ОтветитьOfficer Candidate School (OCS) aka "Knife and Fork School", LOL!
ОтветитьThe officers do NOT all have individual staterooms. The quality of the food is identical. Michnof this is nonsense.
ОтветитьI never cared for the two class (socialistic) society in the military. If you clearly understood and followed the guidelines of the military rank structure things went smoothly. They ones who allowed their rank go to their heads acted and behaved the worst. When you retire and call them by their first name you will know what their thinking was while on active duty. They clearly tell on themselves.
ОтветитьThis video is one of the worst I have seen regarding the military. Aside from trying to incite some sort of divisive "class warfare", the maker is woefully misinformed about how a modern carrier - and by extension, any other military unit - is operated. Do some real research and can the conjecture.
ОтветитьThis channel's videos are always stupid. This one has to be the stupidest so far.
ОтветитьDo they though 😬
ОтветитьMost officers are college dicks who think they are better than everyone else.
ОтветитьMost do 0
ОтветитьHate?? Some officers are jerks, some are great guys. Same for enlisted.
ОтветитьOn submarines the food comes from one galley.
ОтветитьNever talked to an officer the whole time i was in 4 years we took orders from the chiefs. Never be jealous of any one
Ответитьofficers have better sleeping quarters, lol, tell that to the officers whose berthing was directly under the Jet Blast Deflectors on the USS Kitty Hawk.
ОтветитьI was part of an F-14 air group and served on different carriers and we never had issues with any officer..of course ships company hated us airdales :P
ОтветитьYou're trying to make something out of nothing
