Is your grey hair warm or cool?

I have blue hair; blue black, now I have silvery white streaks.

I am trying to decide whether to keep on colouring (lighter and using a natural hair product so as not to overpower or look fake), or go with low lights in my original golden brown. It would be great to try it digitally somehow. I am BWL and SWL .. used to be SWM years ago. There is nothing like the right colour (clothes, blush, lipstick, hair) to bring out natural beauty at any age. People respond to me so differently when I am in good colours. It took a while for me to understand that I had shifted from my SWM and I got all that great information from you, Jen!

Congratulations! You are one of the few people who acknowledges that cool grey hair may not be best for everyone. I am experimenting on my own to find out the best shade of warm grey that suits me best. I believe in a few years, more of us warm grey women will be able to make our mark and change the one sided dialogue.

I definitely have warm grey hair. I thought I had to use purple shampoo to get the warm tone out, but it only turned my hair a muddy color. Also, colors that are recommended for grey hair, such as red, royal blue, white and black completely wash me out. There's a lot of misinformation on this topic - glad you are addressing it.

Does this mean that generally someone with warm skin undertone will have warm gray hair? I’m pretty sure I have a warm skin undertone since I dislike cool colors on me but my charcoal gray that I see when my salon color grows out a bit seems to wash me out.

I am a "bright as a new penny" copper redhead with cool undertones. Grey hair is a foreign concept to me, I'm going straight to a bright white!
From the back of the ears, over the top, everything framing my face is now white. The back is still natural copper.

I was wondering if the sunlight and camera type renders a persons perpective of the grey color, because I've noticed that from my bedroom window my hair on a cloudy day looks dark and cool grey but out in the sunlight it looks light brown-grey...

My skin has cool undertones and I wear cool colors well. My natural adult hair color was a medium ashy brown with no golden or red highlights. I started graying with a streak in front. Now most of the front of my hair is light gray with a few brown streaks. Most of the back of my hair is brown with gray scattered in. My "salt and pepper" is not black pepper, it is brown pepper.
(Speaking only of my color likes and dislikes, I like to see neutral grays and cool grays. I don't like the looks of warm grays.)
I like to wear gray. So, in clothes, I have preferred neutral to cool grays. However, my gray hair is not silvery and blended in with the browns, to me, it appears as a warm gray. (Though in most photos, people see my hair as gray and sometimes use the word silver.) So far, I have been choosing cool to neutral grays because I like them better, and because they go better with my other clothes. How should I be choosing grays to wear?

That makes me wonder: if you have cool undertone, does your hair automatically look cool as well and vice versa? Or can you have warm undertone and cool grey hair or cool undertone and warm grey hair??

The hair around my face is silver and the back is salt and pepper. Am I cool tones?
