After putting down this hobby 10+ years, I recently pick it up again. I used to paint around 5 layers with mixing darker color to lighter color in 4:1 -> 3:2 -> 1:1 -> 2:3 -> 1:4. This took a lot of time and the result was not very great.
Revently I pick up the hobby again and learnt wet palette from your video. This just speeds up my painting a lot with much better result. I can just take 2 colors and mix them on wet palette and it is so easy make gradient color. It is more like blending instead of layering. With wet palette it is so easy to achieve that!
Thanks a lot for your sharing. Even after 10+ years of abandoning the hobby, I just level up my skill immediately.
Just started painting minis about three weeks ago. I'm working on my first space marines: Grey Knight Combat Patrol! I'm super excited and often inspired by you!
ОтветитьI am totally new to this, and got introduced to this due to the new Stormlight Miniatures being done by Brandon Sanderson as a part of his Stormlight Archive series, and eventually a new RPG.
ОтветитьI am painting up my T’au and Eldar 40K Combat Patrols and have finally taken the plunge and gotten my first wet Pallete. Over a decade into the hobby now, always appreciative of your advice and techniques Squidmar!! 🙏
ОтветитьI have already bought one so i do not need it but i have found a good way to paint cheap and detailed miniatures. Epic encounters have around twenty miniatures that are well detailed and it costs 60 bucks. you do need to wash them before you start priming because the primer will not stick if you do not. I have been painting a pack of orks for a while and I really enjoy painting them. It is a great use of your money in my opinion.
ОтветитьI'm painting a big old passion project. I started painting last August and I'm trying to get my first army together for this year's Armies on Parade. It's a Halloween themed Maggotkin army and it's called 'Nurgle's Garden Party'. My rotbringers are all giant bloated orange nurglings, I've converted up my plagebearers into plaguespiders, i'm now kitbashing a few Kruleboys models with Festus and a Poxbringer. They're pumpkin farmers and it looks absolutely crazy! I've been having so much fun! Warhammer has helped me through the hardest time of my life, and i love my stinky little monsters! I know I'm a little later for the competition, but I thought I'd just share.
ОтветитьHey SQUID! Believe it or Not, I am in the midst of "Enhancing" my Gasahapon GODZILLA - GAMERA - MARVEL - Etc. Miniatures, and have been watching You Religiously for months (8mo.) when time permits..) I Love what You Do, and You too>N>H>H>! I am quite the Cleve-Clown ( in my part of town>>) After I receive my E.P.P. fdrom You, I will send out a few pic's to show you what I did. Keep it Up!!
ОтветитьI dont use a wet pallet, I was taught in art school to use a little mist bottle for my pallet and I still do it that way
Ответитьhi I am painting Warhammer 40 k space marine. I got the assault intercessors plus paints box set to see how good you could paint them just using the box paints. its quite a challenge. but it was a cheap as chips fun challenge and the models are quite good to be fair. I am using a home made wet palette. wish me luck lol .really like the channel.
ОтветитьI am painting a tiny elvish girl/witch. She has a small roan wood wand that she is pointing about to release her spell. She is adorable. Thanks for all the tips. I’m 80 years old and have been painting one way or another for 3/4 of a century yet I am learning new things every day…and you are helping. It keeps me sharp and feeling young.
ОтветитьThe metal theory has been disproven, I loved the rest.
ОтветитьAre you still giving away that wetty??? haha
Ответитьgreat tips thanks
ОтветитьI saw it last Week for the first Time, I love it.
ОтветитьHI, great tutorial ! what is the palette at the and you are so happy with? :)
ОтветитьWhere did you get that shirt? It's super cool.
ОтветитьHi all and sorry for most probably a dumb question😉 but should the surface of the paper be wet itself? I make my pallete at home, but any kind of baking paper I use (tried like 6 different kinds), it keeps the water under the paper only, the paper is well stuck on the foam, but basically dry on touch. Is this palette only about the moisture around? Or should the surface be wet itself? Sorry once more and thanks!😊
Ответитьhi im dipping my toes in mini painting ive done mainly star wars x wing minitures and a couple dragons. but im hoping to expand as painting is theripudic
ОтветитьAOS Sylvaneth Kurnoth hunters
ОтветитьSquidmar, I need help! I just got a wet pallet (the one from The Army Painter, if that matters) but I seem to be having a few issues using it. Do I want to leave the top of the paper dry and just place it over the foam, or should I put the paper on the foam and get both sides of the paper wet?
ОтветитьDark Angels
ОтветитьI just started watching your videos and also just started my mini painting journey. Thanks for your guides, it does help with the first timer anxiety and also helps with putting away the intimidating feeling of making mistakes! :)
ОтветитьI want the meat. Gimme me the palette 🎨 man.
ОтветитьMy home made wet pallet is in a box of Ferrero Rocher XD
ОтветитьThis is my first comment on one of your videos although I watched a fair amount of them. I want to congratulate you and your team for an awesome channel! I do have a question though about the parchment paper. Where I live it's hard to find paper that doesn't have thin silicone layers on both sides. Does this paper work ? I don't think it's wax paper because that's another product on it's own.
ОтветитьHi. I am just starting to paint my Tyranid exorcise. I am very excited because I am only just starting to get some of the larger monsters.
ОтветитьI used to use old magic cards as my palette
ОтветитьI HAVEN'T HEARD OF? I heard of it 7 years ago. Hahaha I just need a look at it to make one
ОтветитьAbout to do my first warhammer painting with a chaos marine from mcfarlane toys. So excited and nervous 😬
ОтветитьStarting a Khorne army! New to that channel and I am already learning so much!
ОтветитьIm a beginner trying to learn as much as I can. I really enjoy your videos and all the information.
ОтветитьHmmm, 3 years have passed since this video was made is it too late to win that wet pallet?
ОтветитьI noticed those cellulose wet sponges are everywhere in Sweden. They're a pain in the neck to find in the US, but worth it! They're so much better for the environment than always using paper towels.
ОтветитьI realize that this video is 3 years old, but I’m just getting into painting Heroquest miniatures with my kids, and we are having a lot of fun doing so.
ОтветитьThanks for the information. I have a Red Grass wet palette, but did not understand how I could use it effectively. Your video helped me very much. I have only just begun.
ОтветитьI realise that this video is 3 years old, but just in case you haven't figured it out yet: Use distilled water when painting, and especially when using a homemade wet palette. It will make your paints last so much longer.
With regular tap water you often get mold really quickly, but using distilled water you can keep your paints for weeks.
Also, if you don't want to use a wet pallette, having a fine mist bottle with distilled water is great to keep your paints fresh. Just lightly misting (not spray!) your palette every so often will keep it from drying too fast.
I am a new subscriber, its incredible how you improved your presence in front of the camera. keep up the good job =)
ОтветитьSmooth ass butter. yum!
ОтветитьJust startede paintig ultramarines, lots to øearn.
ОтветитьHi!, I paint 40k and I’m starting Age Of sigmar
ОтветитьCurrently on age of sigmar. Very helpful video, thank you.
ОтветитьSome people seem to misunderstand that wet palettes allow you to thin your paints. They *don't*. A wet palette is to keep the paint you are using easily accessible, and last longer during your painting session by keeping them moist. You still need to thin your paints.
Ответитьi'm starting with miniatures from Blood Rage board game, they are pretty cool Viking figures
ОтветитьPretty cool, I especially liked the tutorial. The sad thing is that I can't buy a pre made water pallet just because no one sells that in my country.
ОтветитьIm brand spanking new to minis and have no money at all .... I just got done watching your video were you build the orc city out of coffee ster sticks and cereal boxes you cut shapes out of. Anyways send me one of those wet pallets lol but seriously I enjoy watching your videos im learning alot . My friend is going to hook me up with my first mini and air brush gun he bought from 2005 lol so wish me luck . Any adive will be greatly appreciated.
