After putting down this hobby 10+ years, I recently pick it up again. I used to paint around 5 layers with mixing darker color to lighter color in 4:1 -> 3:2 -> 1:1 -> 2:3 -> 1:4. This took a lot of time and the result was not very great.
Revently I pick up the hobby again and learnt wet palette from your video. This just speeds up my painting a lot with much better result. I can just take 2 colors and mix them on wet palette and it is so easy make gradient color. It is more like blending instead of layering. With wet palette it is so easy to achieve that!
Thanks a lot for your sharing. Even after 10+ years of abandoning the hobby, I just level up my skill immediately.

I am totally new to this, and got introduced to this due to the new Stormlight Miniatures being done by Brandon Sanderson as a part of his Stormlight Archive series, and eventually a new RPG.

I have already bought one so i do not need it but i have found a good way to paint cheap and detailed miniatures. Epic encounters have around twenty miniatures that are well detailed and it costs 60 bucks. you do need to wash them before you start priming because the primer will not stick if you do not. I have been painting a pack of orks for a while and I really enjoy painting them. It is a great use of your money in my opinion.

I'm painting a big old passion project. I started painting last August and I'm trying to get my first army together for this year's Armies on Parade. It's a Halloween themed Maggotkin army and it's called 'Nurgle's Garden Party'. My rotbringers are all giant bloated orange nurglings, I've converted up my plagebearers into plaguespiders, i'm now kitbashing a few Kruleboys models with Festus and a Poxbringer. They're pumpkin farmers and it looks absolutely crazy! I've been having so much fun! Warhammer has helped me through the hardest time of my life, and i love my stinky little monsters! I know I'm a little later for the competition, but I thought I'd just share.

I am using a home made wet palette. wish me luck lol .really like the channel.

I am painting a tiny elvish girl/witch. She has a small roan wood wand that she is pointing about to release her spell. She is adorable. Thanks for all the tips. I’m 80 years old and have been painting one way or another for 3/4 of a century yet I am learning new things every day…and you are helping. It keeps me sharp and feeling young.

Hi all and sorry for most probably a dumb question😉 but should the surface of the paper be wet itself? I make my pallete at home, but any kind of baking paper I use (tried like 6 different kinds), it keeps the water under the paper only, the paper is well stuck on the foam, but basically dry on touch. Is this palette only about the moisture around? Or should the surface be wet itself? Sorry once more and thanks!😊

Squidmar, I need help! I just got a wet pallet (the one from The Army Painter, if that matters) but I seem to be having a few issues using it. Do I want to leave the top of the paper dry and just place it over the foam, or should I put the paper on the foam and get both sides of the paper wet?

This is my first comment on one of your videos although I watched a fair amount of them. I want to congratulate you and your team for an awesome channel! I do have a question though about the parchment paper. Where I live it's hard to find paper that doesn't have thin silicone layers on both sides. Does this paper work ? I don't think it's wax paper because that's another product on it's own.

I noticed those cellulose wet sponges are everywhere in Sweden. They're a pain in the neck to find in the US, but worth it! They're so much better for the environment than always using paper towels.

I realise that this video is 3 years old, but just in case you haven't figured it out yet: Use distilled water when painting, and especially when using a homemade wet palette. It will make your paints last so much longer.
With regular tap water you often get mold really quickly, but using distilled water you can keep your paints for weeks.
Also, if you don't want to use a wet pallette, having a fine mist bottle with distilled water is great to keep your paints fresh. Just lightly misting (not spray!) your palette every so often will keep it from drying too fast.

Some people seem to misunderstand that wet palettes allow you to thin your paints. They *don't*. A wet palette is to keep the paint you are using easily accessible, and last longer during your painting session by keeping them moist. You still need to thin your paints.
