Fantastic piece! I love Henze's motivic efficiency and integrated development that he displays so casually in this quartet. It helps to see all the permutations he puts the material through with the score. Thanks for posting!

I have to be completely honest. Henze is probably the one composer whose work I just don't get. I have scores for all the symphonies plus assorted other large scale works. Virtually the only impression that I get is unrelieved, undifferentiated grayness delivered in astonishingly over-long forms. This is probably the most negative comment that I've ever posted and I take no pleasure in it, but that's where I come down on this music. Thanks for your hard work Nick, as always!

I'm a Henze fan, but his string quartets (in my opinion) aren't among his strongest works.
