I am thinking about starting a book review channel, and I stumbled upon your channel. Thank you.
ОтветитьI have just been reading this to my daughter in the last week! She's only 6months, so has no idea what it means, but she'll have it in her collection for when she learns to read. :)
Ответитьle petite prince is my favorite book, it just so perfect- smart, funny, educating and overall just a perfect book.
ОтветитьYou should check the movie out. I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix.
ОтветитьThis sounds perfect to me. Thank you for the recommendation.
ОтветитьAs an avid reader I’m sad to say I’ve never read this. I’m going to pick it up to read to my wee ones
ОтветитьWe had to read the little prince for the book report back in elementary school. one of the rare school choices I didn't HATE!
Discworld wise, please review each book separately. They ARE somewhat connected, but only first two are actually one story split in two. I love discworld, it was my introduction to books I actually loved to read.
🙂
Ответитьif you like absurdism you should check out franz kafka
ОтветитьIt was the first book I read when I was 5 and gave it a go again when I was 26. It mad me cry, there was so much that I didn't get as a Kid, it really is profound!
ОтветитьFor someonewho rediscovered reading after 5 year long hiatus and ironically have started with "Eye of the World" as the first book your channel is a GOLD MINE SIR !!!!!!!
ОтветитьI don't usually go for absurdist literature, but I may give this one a try.
ОтветитьI'm so glad you enjoyed The Little Prince. I liked it a lot when I read it a few years ago.
ОтветитьIf you like absurdism you need to pick up the dark tower ;)
ОтветитьI'll offer a criticism: Not enough goblins. Very few books feature sufficient goblins...
Ответитьnice dude, i will have to read this to my kid
ОтветитьOMG! You have Hawaii in your bookshelf! ❤️ Sarah Vowell's Unfamiliar Fishes is a quirkier take on Hawaii. I'll definitely give El Principito another try.
ОтветитьIn fact maybe a half of my 7-8 literature teachers from my school years would argue Le Petit Prince is in fact the greatest book ever written. And although it is not a part of my favourites I would not be able to disagree with them.
1. It is really for everyone and I cannot really come up with even 1 other book that is for everyone
2. It is deeply phylosophical although it is a page turner and is never aggressively preaching
3. Although it does not excel in world building (which is only normal) it has one of the most memorable places and characters ever written
Here in Bulgaria we has it as a must read after 1st or 2nd grade. I think it was 2nd. And overall there is a saying that you must read this book three times in your life - once you are 8, once you are 18 and once you are 80. Overall a great read but I am not sure why it is even considered fantasy at all. Fantasy elements here (as well as in Discworld) serve as tools to express phylosophical concepts and nothing more. And since the fantasy is just a tool and not the purpose I would never call them fantasy. Strictly my opinion.
Your bit wrong . a child will never understand it . im 35 and the first time i read it in french i was 7 . every 2 -3 years i read it again and i understand it more . its a book that sound simple , looks simple but its very hard . its like reading socrates for a kid . Yes he will understand it from his perspective but never as a old person with his experience . Another way to explain it : - A child singing a love sad song ( child have great voice ) .. it will sound great but the child will not feel or hold the sadness that an adult singing such song ( with a good voice) . Le petit prince is for grown ups more than a child
ОтветитьI honestly cried at the end.
ОтветитьHi Daniel. Nice review!! I can't help but say this... You look and talk very much like the character "Dawson Leery" in the 90s Drama series "Dawson's Creek" :-) cool
ОтветитьDon’t you just look like The Little Prince
ОтветитьI live away from my dad and step mom who now have a child together. They dont read to her at all and that's really sad especially for the fact that I, a person who collected 300+ books while living with them and has written literal essays on the importance of literature for everyone especially children, lived with them for years. Her birthday is in December and I will definitely get her this book.
Thanks for the rec.
(Also they live in Germany where dr Seuss isnt really a thing. Guess who's getting a box of Seuss for Christmas!)
I read this to my three and ½ year old. She loved it.
ОтветитьI am reading this book. I learned a word, absurdism, and super curious about how the story goes.
ОтветитьSurely an all time favorite book. I read it for 4 times, and this book always gave me a new perspective in each reading time. Loving your review btw!
ОтветитьI enjoyed the TV show so much when I was 7 years old, it was so adorable yet poetic. I still have the book somewhere, gotta give it a try...
Ответитьso impressive!! i love this book too
ОтветитьThis is such a well done review. As someone who has just read it, you completely stole my train of thought!
ОтветитьI once saw a play of this book and it was absolutely stunning
ОтветитьThe "Little Prince" book originates in France. The English translation is not accurate, and does not translate well in the U.S. edition. The book sounds very robotic in the U.S. edition, but if you can read French, then the book is very poetic and dream-like. Therefore, the French book version is a lot better than the the U.S. edition.
ОтветитьI love the Little Prince like it's such a beautiful story and it's sad as well : D
ОтветитьThis book always have a different meaning when I read it. It wasn't the same experience when I was a kid, a teenager, a young adult and now.
ОтветитьEu já li
ОтветитьIrmão eu sou brasileiro e minha professora de inglês que pediu pra eu vê isso
ОтветитьI love The Little Prince! Im sure you already learned the writer was really a pilot and really ended up dying on a plane crash. The rose is his wife. One of the most famous books in the world.
Ответитьno, a 4 year old wouldn't understand the message lol but good review otherwise
ОтветитьCould you do a booklist of absurdist novels? 🙏
ОтветитьI grew up watching a 3d animated show based on it as a kid that has absolutely nothing to do with it and was surprised when I was told it is based on a book years ago, my mom bought me a copy of the book a month ago in spanish which is my first language and I still haven't read it
ОтветитьThis aged well
ОтветитьDaniel is a literal gem
ОтветитьNo idea if this will be seen, but I would love to see a new review of this at some point if you ever feel like you have new thoughts.
ОтветитьWhere I´m from this book is not just a classic but part of the colective culture. Ask anyone and there is a 90% chance they´ve read it. I was part of the other 10% I could quote “the essential is invisible to the eyes” and I knew there was a fox and that the prince lived in an asteroid. But I had never read it before. I wish I had read it as a child. And it sadenss me to know that there are indeed in this world people that couldn´t like it. What a sad existence that must be
ОтветитьI love you Daniel
Ответитьthe little prince is one of my favorite books due to the fact that it was my very first book i still have it here and i love it very much
Ответить700th like yay 🎉 great video i ordered this book today ❤
ОтветитьHow many pages and books are in the book and volumes too.
ОтветитьПравильно о них Задорнов говорил…
ОтветитьThis was one of the first books I ever read a child, and still adore it as a grown man
