I watch this version whenever I am low. It is difficult to stay down after watching this celebration of music. The world would be a darker place without Peter and the musicians he pulls together.
ОтветитьThis is the best version, of his best song.
ОтветитьOne of the Best. Concert. DVDs. Ever. Along with Growing Up Live. Worth it, for sure.
ОтветитьYou should watch the Live version in Athens 1987. Same track, just as amazing. Love your enthusiasm Sir.
ОтветитьPeter is the Man!!😁😆🤩
ОтветитьThis version of In Your Eyes is easily my favourite version of my favourite song of all time.
ОтветитьI agree, Doug, that this is a great live video recording of this song, but I actually prefer the live video recording of this song accompanied by Youssou N’ Dour. His voice is incredible, magnificent, and IMO, takes the song to whole other level!
ОтветитьAnother song from this concert, Secret World, is perhaps my favorite song EVER. You must watch and listen!!!
ОтветитьPsyched you are so taken with this Doug. So magnificent. And he’s still doing it, unbelievably. Just epic.
ОтветитьThis song brings me to tears every time I listen to it. What an amazing version!
ОтветитьPaula's singing on this is so beautiful. Fantastic dvd
ОтветитьJust came across your page and watched this. Amazing authentic musician perspective and reaction! New subscriber right here! More PG and maybe Kate Bush?
ОтветитьThis is just so moving. I tear up everytime...
ОтветитьHave you heard this song with the New Blood Orchestra? Amazing composition. It brings a whole new life and perspective to the song. I can't recommend it enough. (Also I haven't seen anyone reacted to the New Blood version :) )
ОтветитьIt's a pity everyone's reacting to this version and not the version in Greece with Youssou n' dour which is better IMO.
ОтветитьThis is adorable ☺️
ОтветитьEt le concert à Athènes en 1987...
ОтветитьPaula Cole :)
ОтветитьI have seen so many amazing bands.....Floyd, Yes, Rush, .....this makes me sad that I never saw Peter Gabriel live. Pure Gold.....soul exposed and painted across the crowd....So much love. Peace my brother!
ОтветитьPaula blows my mind in this song.
ОтветитьI guess you never heard Eddie Jobson play electric violin with Roxy music ,Jethro Tull and UK , he also played keyboards for each group mentioned.
ОтветитьI would recommend taking a look at Shaking the Tree from the same tour, Paul has a bigger part in this one, both of these songs are mood lifters
ОтветитьYou're a lyricist and you've never heard of Peter Gabriel? I find that hard to believe. You need to listen to this whole album......."So". I rank it highly.
ОтветитьAlso from this time period is his song "When You're Falling" is another "world" song that is very impressive and transcendental.
ОтветитьAn utterly tremendous concert. Get the audio recording as well as the video recording, which truncated a few songs. In Your Eyes is even longer on the CD
ОтветитьMusic celebrating life!
ОтветитьTruly a wonderful work of art. One of my favorite performances of all time. The Genesis live album, Seconds Out, is the bands continuation after Peter’s departure and you can see the artist of this band has left a legacy behind for all to experience. Check it out
ОтветитьYou should check "Secret World" from that concert. This is the most uplifting song ever.
ОтветитьIf you like Paula Cole in this you should watch her in Peters live version of don't give up
ОтветитьThis song was our Prom theme song. So romantic in the late '80s-early '90s. Well, romantic anytime, but especially for hormonal teenagers.
ОтветитьIf you like Peter Gabriel and have an affinity to older Genesis, take a listen to Marillion. I just discovered this older early 80's band and at first thought it was older Genesis with Peter Gabriel singing. It wasn't. I found out the group was Marillion and truely enjoy their music. I now have them in my playlist. If you find yourself needing to react to new/old music check them out, especially their first two or three albums. You'll be amazed.
ОтветитьSecret World Live is medicine for the soul. Thank you!
ОтветитьThe DVD contains many great songs although I love in your eyes from it, my favorite track of this DVD is Come talk to me, the Stage Production of Robert Lepage ( Cirque du soleil fame) is amazing throughout the DVD
Ответитьinteruptive
ОтветитьThis is still THE best concert I have ever been to. The performances of everyone totally on point and at the time cutting edge effects. Fast forward to 2023 - and will he perform this on his live shows this year - beyond excited!!!!!!
ОтветитьThere is another live version with Sevara Nazarkhan. Find that, she is next level
ОтветитьNote to self - no more reaction videos from composers or vocal coaches. I appreciate the sincere passion, but it’s non-stop talking through the whole video - reading the lyrics to us while they’re being sung and we could clearly hear them with some momentary silence from the reviewer.
Just do a cover of the song if you really want us to hear you sing instead of Paula Cole 😂
Wait a minute. E Mixolydian?
ОтветитьRed Rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From the same album. Bass and percussion. Mind blowing! All time STAY LIST!
ОтветитьI was able to see this concert three times, once in the seventh row. (Unbelibal Vibe) I have been to many shows of his spanning many years. He always (Always) ends his shows with Biko. I am talking about the ones I have seen, including Woodstock. If anyone here has seen him end a concert-more like a show, with any other song well let me know, and with what song? I almost met him, but I did share a moment. Five feet from him Great shows! Great man! His work with Amnesty International is unbelievable. Putting thousands of video cameras from his own account into people's hands to record australites throughout the world. By the way, I have one of your mugs, love it! Daily Doug
Ответить👍🏻
ОтветитьIve watched and listened to this entire concert hundredths of times. My all time fave. Everyone was at that their best. PG was about 43 here. Hes a genius💙
ОтветитьPerhaps my favorite song of all time!
ОтветитьHey Doug, This has been one of my favorite songs since it was first released, but when I first saw this live version a couple years ago, it was honestly a damn-near religious experience. The arrangement is killer and every musician/vocalist was on the top of their game (and enjoying themselves and each other, which contributed to the effect of the performance). This concert was the year before Paula Cole released her first solo album Harbinger (great album!) in 1994. She grew up a few miles from me in Rockport, MA (and currently, I believe) and she has a degree in vocal performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston. I met her a few years back after a performance at the Center for the Arts in Natick, MA (a converted old firehouse) and I have a nice of her laughing as I told a funny story about seeing her live at a small club in NYC just after the release of Harbinger.
ОтветитьA celebration of humanity is a perfect way to describe this.
ОтветитьIt's the sort of song that begs for cinematic use, so it's not surprising that such use happened relatively soon after the album came out.
ОтветитьI was lucky enough to see this live in ‘93 at The Omni in Atlanta - easily in my Top 5 live shows.
