I love both quilts!
ОтветитьI have the worst time with the corners. The last wall hanging I did had a reaaaaallllly bad corner right at the top for all to see. I’ll try your method next time. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьI use transparent thread once I've gotten the binding sewn on the front. You don't see the thread, only a seam line.
ОтветитьCory, I use a binding clip to hold the quilt body and pinch the body and clip. That way, it gives me extra space to work with making that last joining stitch on the binding.
ОтветитьIf you have a Cut ‘n Press board that works well too. This was a very nice tutorial.
ОтветитьExcellent tutorial on how to bind a quilt. You make it look so easy. I will definitely use this technique when binding my next quilt.
ОтветитьI am sorry if this has been asked and answered but there are too many comments for me to read through them all. After you stitch off at the corner and pivot your project do you start sewing right at the edge or 1/4” down?
ОтветитьI seen a video where a quilter said steam irons are bad for fabric.. just need heat and a mister. Thoughts.
Ответить1 yr later, I hope they've all been binded by now. 😅😂
ОтветитьDid you hand applique the front blocks?
ОтветитьI am so glad I watched this tutorial on machine binding because I have only ever made one quilt in my life and that was over 20 years ago. It was hand appliqued and I finished the binding by hand. So I am pretty much brand new, but I sew clothing, doll clothes, fleece blankets and any craft that I want. I am a very confident sewer I would never not do something because I have never done it before or because it looks hard, that's just not my nature. I watch a lot of quilt videos on all topics so I feel very ready to sew my second, first quilt lol.
ОтветитьCory, I just want to tell you I love your fabric line, quilts and I just bought your OH happy day book. An easy way for you to describe how to sew that diagonal seam is Corner to Corner. Thanks for all you do. ❤
ОтветитьJust discovered your site. Beautiful quilts!!!
This is the best "binding" video I've seen. I get it now!!😊 Ive always gotten confused on cutting the tails to the right length. Thank you. I will enjoy being a subscriber to "Coriander Quilts".
Excellent tutorial.
ОтветитьDid you bind all the other quilts?
ОтветитьLove love love this tutorial! You make it look so easy. I used to do all my binding by hand, but lately, I've made some XL king quilts, and my hands were killing me when I was done!! How do you keep the weight of the quilt from pulling away from the needle when attaching your binding? Also, I was told that when entering a quilt in a quilt show the corners have to be closed? HELP. I've been asked to enter one of mine on a show in October and have no idea what they are talking about. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge!!
ОтветитьI enjoyed your thought process in choosing a pattern for the fabric you received. I have been doing the same thing with fabric I received from my mother.
ОтветитьHey Corey, I just love that you made the binding tutorial, I've never binded like that, I usually just pull backing on top and sew. But my question is I know you cut 2" wide strips but how do you know how many to cut? Do you multiply W x L? Or just cut some and cut any access that's not needed? Thanks

Love love love your application. Of ones I've searched for use yours all the time. Works perfect every time thank you for posting this. It works every time. Loved it!!
ОтветитьLove the color of this quilt
ОтветитьThank you so much for this tutorial, and all of the tutorials you share with us. I hope you were able to take care of the quilts that you needed binding, especially since I am watching this a year later. 😂 I do have a question. I just did my first bind on a small wall hanging quilt. The pattern called for 2 1/2” binding strips so that is what I used. I definitely think I need to do smaller because when I went just an 1/8” or so on the front binding, I was almost a 1/4” down from “the ditch” on the back BUT as I say that, my corners are minded nicely at the 2 1/2” binding. I think if I went smaller for the corners, I would have some trouble. My batting was a 20/80 blend. Curious if cutting a small amount around my corners after quilting would help those corners if I went smaller on the binding. I may try that. Again, thank you and if you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them. 😊
ОтветитьTadaaaaa! Its 630a and I was determined to do a machine binding my baby quilt!!! I found your Tutorial and watched it as I sewed with you! and it works!!! I love it.... Thank you so much for your easy to follow tutorial ! Ginny
ОтветитьI've been quilting forever and have never mastered where the binding meets up where you started. Your directions were slap my head DUH simple! Thank you!
ОтветитьHair straightners work for binding pressing too in case your iron is having a sick day.
ОтветитьThank you. I am just learning quilting at 73, and fixing to bind my first quilt. A little nervous, but I go slow.
ОтветитьDo you ever make bias binding? I am seeing more cross grain binding by quilters. Doesn't bias wear better on quilts?
ОтветитьWhat numbers on your strips?😊
ОтветитьGreat tutorial! Thank you so much. I've never seen machine binding come out looking so nice. You do an amazing job sewing straight and consistently. Wow!
ОтветитьI would prefer a wider binding strip. What is the width of the first seam then? Could you tell me how to measure it?
Thanks very much and also thanks for your great videos you are sharing with us. Can't wait to see more...!!!
Do you always use the same batting? What do you use? All cotton, cotton&Poly? Wool? It seems like batting gets thunder all the time. I like it when I finally was the quilt and it gets some crinkle charm!
ОтветитьI found your tutorial to be the best for my learning to bind a quilt. Thank you. Now, the red quilt top fabric you are binding in this tutorial, looks like Hawaiian motifs or snowflakes and I can not find it in your fabric line anywhere. What doo I search for ? I found the backing fabric easily. Thnak you for inspiring me!
ОтветитьYou make it look so easy.... wish me luck... I have a crib quilt to bind for my nephew's new baby girl!
ОтветитьThe quilt is just so beautiful and red…Must have been difficult and laborious to make as it looks quite intricate! Congratulations !
ОтветитьYour iron on the surface all that time won’t burn the surface of the binding board?
ОтветитьThank you! I am looking forward to making your technique. I think I am going to like it.
ОтветитьWhy aren't you using a walking foot? Isn't the bulk an issue with 1/4 foot?
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video. I love hand binding but I also love the clean look of machine binding. This was a super easy way to beautifully finish my quilts and not feel guilty about it lol.
ОтветитьThis was just the tutorial that I needed. I am finishing a quilt for my grandson and have only made a few quilts many years ago. I watched a number of videos and made five practice quilts about 8 x 12 inches to relearn binding.
This is the best video I've seen yet! I wasn't happy with any of my samples and was at the point of hand sewing the binding on the backing when I found your tutorial.
Thank you so much! My hands thank you too!
Even though your iron shuts down on its own. Please unplug your iron when you're finished. I reasonly had a cheaper iron that shut down. I tipped it over to get it started, and an alarm went off as the iron was starting to smoke on my ironing board. Very scary!
ОтветитьI always get confused on my binding when joining the two ends. But watching this video made it so much easier for me! Thank you so much!
ОтветитьThank you for the tutorial. I am going to try this way of binding today. You explain this beautifully, even I can understand it. Thank you again!!!
ОтветитьWhen you say whole cloth quilt does that mean you have a solid piece top and bottom, no piecing?
ОтветитьEven though I've watched other instructional videos I've been afraid of making my own binding but you have inspired me to give it a try! You have provided excellent advice! Thank you for sharing! Blessings to all in love and light!🙏🏼💜🙏🏼💙🙏🏼🧡🙏🏼💛🙏🏼💚🙏🏼
ОтветитьThank you so much Corey for helping me with my very first machine binding I’ve been quilting for 20 plus years but always had someone quilt and bind them because I was intimidated. This is the first quilt and also a gift for my FIL who is terminally ill to be totally done by me including all the scary things!! Loving all your videos and patterns always look forward to your new videos and patterns!!
ОтветитьThanks. Beautiful quilt!
ОтветитьDid you finish your binding? I am just as guilty... going now to do it...after I make the binding... lol and Hugs from Esquimalt
ОтветитьI love your tutorials. You're an excellent teacher and I learn a lot from you, so thank you! Do you like your Juki for all quilting uses - precision piecing, etc? I'm looking for a new machine and am interested in a Juki, but am wondering if it's a good multi-purpose machine for piecing, backing, binding, etc. Thanks!
ОтветитьThis was so great!! Thank you so much, I always always struggle at the final connection. I have a quilt just about ready to bind. Thank you again. I would like to also say how much I enjoy all your fabric. 😊
ОтветитьI need lots of machine binding practice, having issues with my hands and refuse to stop piecing and quilting.
ОтветитьSo glad you did this video. Even after years of quilting I struggle w joining the binding and have to search tutorials every time. Yours is definitely saved as a fave.
