Corporate dollars keep high priced hoteliers in the black Once these employers embraced video conferencing over conference rooms and virtual meetings vs business class airline tickets-hotels catering to this market tanked. These hotels were built for expense accounts not families. Once Silicon Valley realized their salaried employees are equally productive working from home for 16 hours? What’s not to love?

The largest hotel in San Francisco is the Hilton Union Square. It has 1,921 rooms. Not 3,000. The next largest is the Parc 55 with a little over 1,000 rooms. The owner of both hotels, Park Hotels & Resorts, is “walking” their loans, meaning they’re going to let them go into foreclosure. The SF “shit show” continues to scare civilized society away. You can still book rooms there in July, for less than $250/night. They both used to start at $900/ night.

San Francisco is worthless. I avoid that place like the plague.

You can get a room at the Hilton there for $184 and after tax after tax after tax it ends up $257 a night....unless you want to park and then you can tack on another $65 bucks.

Well played, it's been a long game. SF nearly rivaled Manhattan on real estate prices. It was the most affluent city in the west. They sell the "sanctuary city," idea, bam... a short ten years later you have a no man's land of nice, abandoned properties that the prices are soon to rival Detroit a few short years ago. They'll pick them up for a song... clean out the city, and laugh all the way to the bank.

Real estate has been so over inflated my entire life.

My wife retired after a successful career with Cisco Systems designing and building telepresence studios and infrastructure making WebEx Meetings possible…thus eliminating the need for most business travel. Hence the airport hotels are no longer needed. Business travel is down by 60%.

Turn it into senior apartments for long term SF seniors, with affordable units for those on social security so they stop getting priced out of their city. No need for all that office space with the tech these days where people can work remotely and save the hours of commute.

It used to be people who worked in the city lived in the city, many families were multigenerational, so their lives were city centric, and there was always an apartment or house for their budget.
Having to commute from the suburbs 1-2 hrs in heavy traffic daily and high cost of gas and tolls is done.
