I am still surprised by how few players fish in dayZ

I love the game but the cheaters on pc are awful, makes me never want to play.

This is a tough nut to crack. That being said I've mostly played solo on community servers where I established rapport and then team up.
But being solo most of the time forced me to learn everything. Especially on an official server. I go for food first. But most likely not in town. I engage if necessary. I avoid areas when you encounter signs of life. Stealth kill zeds if not confident in my surroundings. Time is never wasted

My counter points to running everywhere: its much faster...just as long as you save a little stamina for getting shot at...
1. Have a base near either a bunch of mushroom spawns or fruit spawns. Go on a custom server, turn on ESP...and learn the locations of those concentrated spawn points. When you are sorting loot at your base, fruit or mushrooms will naturally spawn. You will know where to check to gather mushrooms near your base in a small food loot route.
2. Endless supply of food. Seriously. You have to eat the raw ones...cause they go bad the quickest...which give you the most water content. You'll probably max out water and stomach just trying to eat all of these. You store away the dried ones...which you will eventually have to eat in order to make more room because you have figured out infinite food.
3. With too much food at your base, you have to run...in order to burn more calories...in order to clear the inventory space for more loot...which you will eventually consume...which leaves more room to store dried fruit or mushrooms... (Don't say it doesn't work...my clan has 3 full chests of dried mushrooms and fruits. A barrel full of clean water will last literally the entire patch...)

if there was a shotgun with a scope slot id say yeah one gun but nah i disagree 1 long 1 short or just be a god with aim i guess

I carry many weapons. Instead of clearing a jam, i can swap weapons.

Good way to manipulate people to watch your videos at the end. The first tip is good for looting, the slower you approach a town the more loot that will spawn there

First one dont listen to always streams.

Wherever I build a base I tend to board up all the water fountains from nearby towns. You’re gonna have to bring plenty of hydration if you raid my place. Also my bases never hold loot other than construction lights and generators 😂

I use a long rifle and db shotgun or auto rifle if lucky enough to find one. I’ll also take along a small pistol or sawed off revolver for wolves. I’m never under half stamina bar. Traveling light it’s important if you’re like me and are still learning maps, building confidence in recognizing different types of gunshot and which guns they come from, and how to spot players properly. That extra two seconds of sprinting will usually get me to cover, let me know which gun they’re using, as well as give the opposing shooter some extra confidence to expose their location as I run away look over my shoulder, doing a serpentine. I’ve had a lot of shots open up from someone thinking I don’t see them since I’m running. This works about 75 percent of the time. If they’re a good shot, good luck. No outrunning that shit. You’re getting a ticket to the coast.

I totally disagree with only carrying one gun. The gun can ruin and you’re left with nothing.

If you hold control and strafe while in 3rd person you can be semi accurate in 3rd person

With all due respect most points are pretty weak

regarding the first one, food and water are such a non issue in 99% of cases that its really not worth my time to not sprint everywhere

Except the night one, without nvgs or a headlamp i hate night time in this game.

while the ideal situation would have you carring only one weapon and a sidearm.....since they updated the hit boxes and dayZ and now weapons can be ruined from being shot, rendering the weapon useless, i've started carrying a backup weapon.

Pro tip...sprinting through tight groups of thick bushes or pine tree's is a really bad idea, often people hide in them and if your sprinting they hear you from half a mile away all the while there sat there hiding in silence, better to crouch walk with a raised weapon with a short as possible barrel....lol otherwise your 10 mile long mosin is first thing to stick through the tree's.

I love a good game that allows third and first person.

Dont shoot zeds without a supressed gun because you are so easy to trace if you go loud.

O run a hardcore server and the biggest mistake that everyone make is disinfecting rags. Don't disinfect rags, it's a waste. Wait to see IF you get an infection, then if you do disinfect the wound. It will cure almost instantly.

222 solid full 24hr days of play on dayz and i still lose pvp.😂😂😂 Im shite at pvp yet great at any other aspect of the game..ill tell u why im rubbish at pvp, cos i dont have alt characters.😂

I have 5334hrs on dayz, think that makes me veteran, quite a few of these tips i completely disagree with..😊

For the running it depends on the server so official or boosted servers is completely fine but hardcore and survival DO NOT RUN lol

I like having two long guns. I've had my gun ruined one to many times.

most of these issues are removed with custom servers

6k hours and only carrying one main gun is horrible advice.

Carry and automatic for short to mid range and a sniper for long range.

You dont wanna be messing around taking scopes on and off during combat

Some players are as dumb as the zombies when it comes to attacking everyone they see, especially when it's an an obvious suicide mission.

"dont carry two guns, you lose useful slots" - player has two gun/weapon(s) ONLY slots lmfao.. played DayZ for over 5k hours and can confirm most suggestions here are personal preff and not a "does wrong" instance lol

edited: also two guns is very useful if you are low on ammo or using a single shot... its quicker to swop to 2nd gun than reloading xD

Running - I generally avoid running, just to avoid alerting infects. Walking (CRTLx2) seems louder than crouching/sneaking. However, if I'm leaving a town, I'll likely sprint for the treeline until I run out of stamina, then enter counter tracking mode (moving slowing from cover to cover, constantly looking over my shoulder). I would like an auto run button. I've implemented one with autoHotKey.
Night - What a double edged sword it is. My favorite night activity is code raiding. It can also be good to travel, but I have such a hard time seeing, and I can often alert a horde of infects and get stuck on a fence, only to repeat the process after uncon, trying to find a shed to hide in.
My starting focus in order of priority: Water, Food, avoiding infects, knife, rope, seeds, farming implement.
