Awesome! This makes sense to me.
ОтветитьAwesome way to reset all the bad thoughts and poor strikes ‘ if you do this for 18 holes your probably score better than you ever have before ‘ thank you Iona
ОтветитьHi iona I've been struggling with my driver the penny has just dropped thank you
ОтветитьGreat video works so well for me 😊
ОтветитьCan you do this with 5i or is there not enough club head speed for it to be effective?
ОтветитьBrilliant video - SWING the weight of the club. 👍
ОтветитьOMG! Absolutely brilliant! Just tried this with my irons, 4H, 3W and Driver exactly as you showed it.
This past year I have been taking lessons with GOLFTEC with 3 different instructors. Not one has shown me this drill.
Like you, they all kept saying, “You have to swing the club around your body. Again, not one truly can tell or show me how.
Can’t wait to try this at my next round. Thank you so much. Keep doing what you do… Being Awesome ❤
Around and forward is the two key elements for me in the swing. The worst piece of advice, I have had over the years is to hit down on the ball with your irons.
It is the posture, golf specific stance, that will bring the clubhead down rather than hitting down on it. Therefore I’ve come up with the idea to hit it forward towards the target, not necessary even at the ball at all, but forward scraping the turf along the way. The ball has no other option, but to leave the spot, when clubhead moves on a paht that intersect with the ball position.
Would this help with a slice?
ОтветитьI have been doing the feet together drill for 40 years. Its my number one drill. I would hit 80 balls with my feet together with various clubs, then the last 20 with my normal stance. Its great for tempo, eliminating over the top move and better on face contact. Thanks for sharing Iona.
ОтветитьConversely you can hit balls with your feet as wide as you can place them without falling down and swing from there, then switch back to the feet together. Both help dial in good contact.
ОтветитьMisty mountains, beautiful setting, birds tweeting, solid common sense being talked and demonstrated. This is an absolute delight.
ОтветитьI would like to hear more about your journey from starting to pro, in more detail.
ОтветитьLoved it he's so much fun, play a chipping game for beers good fun but sill a challenge.
ОтветитьA+❤
ОтветитьBrilliant drill; thank you Iona
Ответить1st saw Faldo do this
ОтветитьFabulous.
ОтветитьThanks for the tips I find all your content amazing
ОтветитьWhat a fine classy woman!
Ответитьam amazed it how well this works…. so much so that I have brought to real course play and use it when the key is to get the ball IN…. great
ОтветитьAnother great drill. Thank you Iona
ОтветитьStruggled with lateral motion and not clearing the hips before impact. This drill REALLY helps. But, I found something fundamental that works for me. I would love to have your feedback. From a post in a forum, explains a drill and describes the feel of proper downswing initiation: Knowing to rotate the hips, and even knowing when to rotate the hips is not an answer. The question is HOW to initiate rotation in the hips. You've heard Jack Nicklaus talk about rolling the ankles, others talk about planting the left heel. But the one thing these ideas have in common is the GROUND. Initiate rotation at the GROUND. This feels like a push-off with the left foot, in the opposite direction of rotation. This, because we must counter the rotation. At the top of the backswing, when our hands are set, the right foot is planted, the spine is in correct position, we have defined a plane with our backswing, all we need to do is fire. How to fire? Whether you plant your heel or roll your ankles, there must be a push off the ground, toward the ball or away from you forward, forward, not at the target. My left heel never leaves the ground, or barely. The feel I have is a little kick when my hands set at the top of the backswing. The tension is loaded on the left side from the backswing. I can feel the limit of rotation, where ever I set it, just as I initiate the hip turn. This facilitates "stepping" on the shot, literally planting the left foot and pushing upward at impact, SMASHING a bug under the left foot at impact. I can limit backward rotation by keeping the left knee out or pushing toward the target as I start my backswing. More important on short irons, btw. But, this regulation of my backswing plays an important role in control with driver, too. So, one more time: Hands set, tension loaded on left side (you can feel the stretch), kick the left foot forward, away from you or at the ball with driver. You will feel the pressure in the left foot go from toe to heel through the bottom, then your left leg will straighten through impact. To drill, get to a range and do EVERYTHING as you normally would. Perform a normal backswing and stop at the top at full stretch, now, just kick the left foot and roll the pressure to the heel, without swinging the club. Do that three or four times, then hit a ball. Repeat. You'll be hitting the ball further than ever if this is missing from your swing. You will also notice straighter shots, less fade, less draw. But, in order for this to work well, your backswing, grip, setup, etc must all be in good order. If so, swing away. You'll enjoy a more automatic swing.
ОтветитьI love women who “get around”
ОтветитьAround
Ответить« Real penny drop moment » for me as well. Thank you for really helping me with my swing, Iona. Massive props.
ОтветитьThis is a game changer but what I found was how the body acts. My first thought was this is just an arm swing but then I can feel my body reacting first and it wasn't the way I was doing it in my own swing. Once I adopted this new body feel it has changed my game.
ОтветитьThank you 🙏🏻 thank you 🙏🏻 thank you 🙏🏻
ОтветитьAmazing drill indeed!
Ответитьi love this drill - keep up the good work Iona - warm regards from cold Melbourne Australia
ОтветитьExcellent stuff. I’ll be trying this
ОтветитьGreat drill. Look forward to taking this to the range tomorrow. 👍🏻 And how on earth do you get such a beautiful practice facility all to yourself????!!!! 😮🤩🤩🤩🏌🏻♂️
ОтветитьAs you say, so simple!!!! I'm 85 and would gladly volunteer to caddy for you if you go back competitive, if for no other reason than to watch that SIMPLE swing!!!!
Ответитьoff up the range tonight to try this. I did use it many years ago but had forgotten how useful it is. Thank you :)
ОтветитьThank you Thank you AND Thank you. I have been snaphooking my drives/long irons for more than a year now. Not all the time - just often enough to become unsure about EVERYTHING. Know what I'm supposed to do - COULDN'T get my body to do it at my will. When I saw your video yesterday something clicked in my head. I had a feeling, this would work for me. Tried it out this morning on som epractice and 9 holes. NOT ONE SNAP HOOK. And the easiest 9 holes I have played for a LOOONG time. Right now I'm a 12 handicapper - I used to be 6-7 - until this Snap thing came into my swing. I can see how using this drill can take me back into single figures and make golf MUCH more relaxed and fun again- THANKS 🤩
ОтветитьGreat video and very true. This was how I got taught to correct coming over the top. Either feet together or one behind the other.
ОтветитьVery well broken down and explained. Thank you 😊
ОтветитьThe video where you keep saying around. Around, around is so good and so easy to follow. I didnt realise I was going up and down very inconsistently. Thinking “around” each time I swing has really helped. Have you done vids on deliberately drawing and fading the ball?
ОтветитьWhat visor is that? Super good looking!
ОтветитьA great drill Iona. Your videos are so simple and clear and absolutely no superfluous chatter or nonsense! Well done.
ОтветитьWe’re always told that an “armsy” swing is wrong and that true power is generated by the legs from the ground up. What you say Iona makes perfect sense, I think many male golfers have too much tension in their swing where they try to hit the ball with arms and shoulders. I’m willing to bet that your swing Iona is totally tension free.
ОтветитьIt also helps with early extending too. It helps open the hips at contact.
ОтветитьI played with a guy that hit all of his shots feet together.
ОтветитьJust seen this video, what a simple but effective way of describing how to swing around the body. Us golfers get so depressed when we’re not hitting it well but this drill is so effective at restoring confidence.
