Nihilism presupposes that the cosmic perspective is what matters and since the cosmos (assumedly) doesn't care nothing matters. My question is why should i care what the cosmos thinks. Humans generate value judgements not the cosmos. Thus we find/create our own meaning.
ОтветитьHere are the problems with nihilistic philosophy:
It assumes having some inherent, external purpose is a positive thing to have. Going as far as to say nothing has value, unless it contributes to this hypothetical purpose.
It assumes that living a good life somehow isn't enough by itself.
It assumes that what makes life worth living and what the meaning of life is, are the same question. They're not. They are wildly different.
It's so blatantly obvious that most beings live their lives, simply because they value being alive. Not because some God demanded them to live to fulfill an objective, just to be tossed aside like a used condom.
And let's humor the idea: let's say that the universe and everything in it does have an inherit purpose, caused by a God (or something).. God needed someone to make his coffee. Every time someone suffers, it enhances the taste... ok, now what? Is your life good now? Did it fix your problems? Or are you still unfulfilled and continue to question existence even further? Like questioning the point of God's existence and why anything he does matters? And if you questioned the purpose of the purpose-giver, why not ask for the purpose of the purpose-giver-giver? Creating a never ending loop where you are never satisfied, always looking for something outside of yourself. Never reaching a concrete answer. You either go on forever, to no point, or it has a point, ends, and time goes on as if nothing happened.
This entire "meaning of life" is a construct made up by people and it doesn't even make sense. Saying life has no meaning is like saying a tree doesn't have a sense of humor ; you're criticizing something for lacking a property it's not even able to have in the first place. It's a stupid philosophy that's primarly used as a scapegoat by depressed people, so they don't have to take accountability for their mistakes.
That was interesting and very "action oriented". Thank you. 💜
Ответитьdamnnn this was good
ОтветитьSo good to know the internet im using is not the problem because remote play is literally unusable for me
ОтветитьUnfortunately even after difficult things which I forced yourself to accomplish, I still don’t feel yourself proud of it. Because it was too difficult or to time consuming that exhausted me and I’m not happy with these achievements. Because I know that some people take for granted things that I did with Effort and pain, so I just envy but not proud, so this technique does not work
ОтветитьI freaking love you! You’re the best! Thank you for being you! Just saying.
ОтветитьThanks, Doctor K! This feels like the missing piece in my life I was searching for all along.
ОтветитьDenial of reward is what makes bdsm fulfilling ;) 😂
ОтветитьSo the harder something is to do, the more fulfilment you get from achieving it
ОтветитьLife feels like a downward spiral to me. Each year, I get dragged in deeper into the smog until I wonder what there is even left to look forward to if nothing improves. Not depression. Just reality of life (at least mine's).
Ответитьis there a difference between what people call fulfillment and setting up a life where you can experience contribution and accomplishment/success on a regular basis and experience the positive emotion associated with that? i feel like that is what people mean when they say fulfillment. involvement, contribution, accomplishment, success, and prosperity resulting in positive emotion and a decent level of hope and motivation to continue
ОтветитьExactly what I needed.
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьI think the problem is that we try to use logic or emotion with every problem when the truth is a well adjusted person has and uses both. There's I reason will run into situations where like that logically makes sense but it feels wrong. Or that's illogical but it feels right. Best case that's logical and it feels right. Worst taste that's illogical and it feels wrong.
I'm sure people who respond to this comment will try to extremify it and say no you need to pick one or the other never both.
Well first, the world is level, not the land, and enclosed, created by the God of Abraham, Issac, and Israel. Secondly, we did not evolve from animals, we were created by the same energy called God. Thirdly, our purpose is to find the mysteries and reveal the Word to those truly sick of a heliocentric model. Yahshua
ОтветитьImagine refusing to watch an awesome movie because 'it's just going to end anyway'. Yes, eventually Earth will no longer be a thing, but it doesn't matter that it doesn't matter - you'll be dead so you won't have to deal with it. But while you're alive, that bit matters because you're in it, and so are others. May as well get fulfillment and a sense of inner peace, and make it a nice place for ourselves and others, and give guidence for the next lot that lives after we go. Or you know, just stay miserable and don't make it any better for anyone and feel alienated. Your choice.
ОтветитьYou ultimately need to distract yourself with goals that are good. But whats good about climbing mt everest vs playing video games all day. Theres nothing actually different other than actions. What they do for you is totally mental. So am i to just be in a good mental space freeling worthy of living by doing things. Isnt that just as meaningless as being a heathen
Ответитьwe are feeling a void
ОтветитьThis is gold!
ОтветитьMy life is meaningless but I think I could change that
ОтветитьNot me trying to figure out if 50 steps or 5,000 steps is more fulfilling after Dr. K says not to think like that
ОтветитьI did the excersize at the end, the 10 minute thing. I sat and didn't really think of anything, for like 10 minutes. Nothing really happened after. I mean I felt good I could do it. But I still didn't see what change was supposed to come of that.
It just felt like I was in an eternity of nothingness and didn't really care. No happiness, no sadness. Just emotionless. Okay with being bored.
Ive tripped on L, ive hallucinated and stared at one spot on that. Didn't really care. Honestly I've had different trip experiences than other people though. I've seen god in like 10 different forms. Even seen my soul. It was light. Which is all great and dandy, but like, how does that help me have motivation to get another job? Or not be more motivated to die faster? Knowing my soul is eternal and indestructible.
It still seems pointless. Ive done many hard things, and I've learned lessons. I know I will not die from them, and will recieve fulfillment from that, but even it is temporary. Where is the long term happiness? And in what way can it be manifested if it is always true that things grow to die?
I'm in a situation in life that all of your contents are similar to me and they really help me to stay strong ,motivated or happy in this world. Thank you.
Ответитьthis video pribably changed my life 180°
ОтветитьWhatever you enjoy, the enjoyment will only last for five minutes, afterwards you’re back to emptiness, so why bother trying anything at all? And it doesn’t matter whether the activity was a “healthy “ one like hiking or a “bad” one like gaming. The feeling of fulfillment never lasts.
ОтветитьFuck
Ответитьturns out my brain is a total asshole
Ответитьi stood up, closed my eyes and meditated for 10 min and boy was it hard. it was difficult trying to focus on my breath and to not to think of anything, i felt relieved it was over even though it was just 10 minutes. i haven't really felt the fulfillment but there is a first for everything. im heading down my block to jog now later fellas
ОтветитьMy happiest moment was lying on a bench at 2am-ish after a piano lesson about ten years ago. My teacher was someone I liked and had a weird relationship-ish thing with.
My family was still around (my dad since passed), I was late twenties, and I was pretty sure things weren't going to work out with this person, even though things were headed in the right direction at the time. Everything was great, but there was no way it could last.
So I decided to just lie down on a bench at a park, stare up at the stars, and remember it as my happiest moment before it all went away.
Tbh i just want to connect with people and help others but i feel inadequate to do so despite past experiences tellinge otherwise 🥲😕
ОтветитьDn crug effect is just masked shame, change my mind 😅😅😅
ОтветитьThe most fulfilling things in life are experiences that are free, involving nature or other human interactions, and overcoming adversity when pursuing value-laden dreams with courage, justice, humanity, temperance, transcendence, and wisdom
Ответитьwhat I think fullfillment is after watching this video is after a hard work you get a reward and feel good about it instead of getting reward for doing nothing, then you don't feel like you fulfilled anything.
ОтветитьThe explanation is incomplete. You did not address the point that his own happiness and fulfilment is pointless to him, so even after he finds it he will not value it! (That was my experience and I am not a hedonist, I do hard stuff just because why not but I don’t see any value in it).

ОтветитьI wander what happens if you don’t have the money and time to experience anything that could possibly be fulfilling experience. I want to try them, but I don’t have the money, all I can do is being a poor student and search around free things to do, and haven’t meet much that makes me feel fulfilled. Sometimes I found something interesting and then it just gone really fast, like the minute I stop doing it.
ОтветитьI tried eat without watching, and man sometimes I feel I am a bit too dissociated, because I can’t even notice the food taste in my mouth when I eat by myself
Ответить“ embrace difficulty” good one
ОтветитьThis is one of those videos that hits you right in the “Oh I know”
ОтветитьHow does fulfillment have anything to do with the problem of meaning? What good is fulfillment if we sidestep the problem altogether? If meaning fundamentally doesn’t exist, aren’t we just deluding our sense of reality for our own personal gain?
ОтветитьYou can't create fulfilment. You at best can discover something that you find fulfilling, if you're lucky. I think my dopamine system does not work. I feel no pleasure even from things i once loved. Foos, Drugs, Sex gives me no pleasure. Climbing a MT. is not an option for physical reasons. I have on the other hand done things that were very hard. I don't think it is the difficulty but the accomplishment that was desirable for me. I get much more fulfillment from driving the truck full of bricks rather than carrying them. Accomplishing a goal efficiently is more fulfilling than doing it the hard way.
Ответитьbrilliant explaination
