It baffles me how careless people are with$1000 tech I’ve zero sympathy for any of them.

That’s why i hate apple cuz they make phone repair so hard and on top of that even if you do repair it they make it so the phone will not work good after you do so now you need to pay half of the price for all those parts and still phone system will not alow for phone to work good and even if you send the phone to apple for this repair it would cost you almost full price of the new phone that’s not right by them and they are going down in the ayes of people cuz of it and i don’t know about you guys but all phone companys should make like before so everyone can make repairs and swap new batterys when needed that’s how it was before and should be always like that so they need to make back cover so you can take it out easy and swap battery like before and make a way so u can have water protection even with back covers like that and i did hear about new law that’s going to be in place soon about all the things i writed here well i hope so 🤞🤞

That’s just rage bait all that work and apple doesn’t let you access features of the new screen.

As a technician, this doesn't bother me, a full tear-down takes 10 minutes and the back glass is done with a fibre laser. Sure androids have fewer parts, but they take the same time as the iPhone.
Personally, 13 onwards is easier and faster to repair than then previous phones, my tools are 4 things:
-Hot plate for adhesive (android needs it especially)
-tri, star and Phillips head screwdriver set.
-Guitar pick pry tool
-razor blade.

That's it, and I do every phone besides Z Flip and fold. It's not as bad as people rave about, apple has its own assembly philosophy and so does Android, it's just practice.

I also worked in electronics manufacturing and am currently pursuing a mechatronics engineering degree, I don't like to advertise those credentials but I want it to give credence to what I say. Being, the iPhone isn't that bad, it's blown way out of proportion.
If you wanna know bad, look at the stupid pricing of S series screens for Samsung, vendor-locked for being curved so insane prices. When Apple has all of China's manufacturing prowess to make decent aftermarket screens for a 5th of the cost. Plus they even give a warranty, so you can't say it's garbage either.

The final statement I can agree upon is that phones in general suck for repair, but consider that a lot of the ‘anti-right to repair’ stuff can also be down to manufacturing reasons, such as screw size needing fewer lobes and therefore reducing the likelihood of rounding it. ID on screens to have a marketed guarantee of colour accuracy that is expected, so the true tone is legit the true colour tone being emitted from the screen and not skewed to some manufacturing variable.

If you hate iPhones, don't buy one, same with Android. Usher the landscape to be better of course, but I am in a proper small kiosk down in the trenches of consumer phone repair, I can say it's meh.

First of all your "new" screen was refurb , second you could copy and transfer to the "new" screen the whole original data so it has True Tone and auto brightness :)

There is an inverse ratio between the power of Apple's chips and the quality of the company and devices they make

There is already a programmer unit for the display repair so it restores true tone, etc…

I will be rebuilding my Samsung Note 9 for the 3rd time since buying it as parts back in 2020. It has been my main phone since then and it took a lot of abuse, but there's nothing that can stop me from making it brand new (for the 3rd time) again.

You can use the display id from the old one and get it programmed into the new one with a Chinese device. At least you could with older iPhones. Worth doing after spending so much on genuine parts

Looks fine to me tbh, it's a highly complex phone. Just you complaining about how complex it is. Looks perfectly repairable to me. Repair people just want easy fast fixes and simple phones.

I get people are mad it's hard to repair an iPhone but so is repairing a Rolex, just make sure you charge what your time is worth.

magnets have a north and south pole and if you get the magnets in wrong the mag safe may not stay if enough magnets are in wrong.

the magnetic mat is great if the parts and screws are magnetic but the problem is not all metals are magnetic.

there are 2 grades of stainless steel.

surgical/food grade witch is the good stainless and is non magnetic.

then there is the cheap grade used in the bezels and embellishments of appliances and lower end appliances and such.

if you buy a microwave and it has a stainless strips on the door most like they are just thin strips and a magnet will stick to it.

if you pay over $1000 or more for a microwave then it will be non magnetic stainless.
