I discovered this song recently and been listening basically on loop. After many time I finally get "Can you hear the choir sing of paleblood satellites". I thought it was a reference to paleblood moon like many others after, but there's literally a choir almost breathing out Pale blood moon in the intro. I love it.

It could be interesting movie, castlevania style.

I know I’m many moons late but still I must rate this sound fine!

There are tiny references to plots that I love the first part especially since it’s basically a tribute to gehrman who as much as he wishes to escape the dream will ensure nobody else will suffer it; as well as the little reference that this IS the healing church’s fault

The fall of the choir (I think) at the pre-chorus, since the choir and church did fall during the hunt— then of course there’s the BLOOD addicting chorus which references how much of a curse insight is (looking at you garden of eyes and winter lanterns).

I also liked Master Willems part, which I think is like him lamenting over his relationship with Laurence before he left to made to what would soon be the healing church; wishing he could’ve warned/taught Laurence enough to not mess with the old blood.

Of course the absolute DUST thrown at the healing church with that pre-chorus with the “prayers on lips of liars” (cause we ALL know how stuff went when they were experimenting with the blood in the DLC), and the of course thirst and hunger for insight by bygernwerth, the healing church and choir.

I never really got the final prechorus, truthfully, I always thought of it as Mergo the child of Yharnam, or reference to the Orphan of Kos (because of the “the ones who will never be, behold the end with a thousand eyes” since Mergo was taken by the great one since it was known that Great Ones will take children and raise them as their own if they lose their own child; and Kos… well, you’ll have to see the fishing hamlet on that one).


Even with all THAT; this, and JTs rap got me into Bloodborne, and despite me spoiling myself for the cosmic horror it STILL shocked me, so hearing this again (instead of pretending to know what it means but ACTUALLY knowing (or having the insight)) feels so good to understand it all— I ponder on this perch if you may some day make another, either of Bloodborne, or of a song that will reel me into another game… hmmm… only time may tell, but as of now, I must return to my hunt.

I always get the feeling when playing Bloodborne that, while Dark Souls's story is hard to find because the world collapsed, Yharnam's history is being purposely hidden by the various forces that operate in the game and as you gain the insight you can better see the world for the horror that it is. Like Gherman legit says "don't worry of the lore, just be a sweety and kill those beasts"

On one hand, Paleblood Moon isn't my cup of tea, the song itself hits all the right notes for early game when it's just a game about finding whatever paleblood is and killing beasts, its a perfect song by design and fantastically made, just a bit too chilling for my nerves. However, this one makes me feel like the hunter SPOILERS between fighting Gael up to about everyone after short of Gherman himself. Just the power and knowledge that I must learn more, even as it alters my very reality. From the building crawlers, to the one reborn, to finding out who is the "womb blessed with child." At that point for me, the game took a sharp drop from a ravenous need for killing bosses and learning more to, "oh... this isn't what I'd ever intended..."

Now we need one for the old hunters and we’ll be good

After listening to this song so many times and playing through all the souls games, I have finally took the time to buy a whole console just to play bloodborne. I am excited to see this amazing love craft horror game which people praise to be one of the best games of all time.

The perfect background music for a 1000 hr run of my favorite fromsoft game. ( turned of in boss fights)

I first listened to this song ages after I first heard Pale Blood Moon so believe me that when my ears heard “pale blood will guide your way” my fucking jaw dropped and my head snapped to my screen, that transition still gives me chills

I like how it seems to follow the lore, as a lore person it’s a massive thing to me, an Bloodborne has such an intricate lore, part of why I like it. I will be listening to this on my next beast hunt

So, I have been listening to this song for a month now and after just watching the video for the first time, I have discovered that verses 1 and 2 aren't about the PC hunter (Player Character Hunter)

Verse 1 (Gehrman)
"Many moons I've lingered lonely
Many dreams I've overseen
Now I wait for one below me
To arise and intervene".

We know from his title that Gehrman was the first hunter of the workshop. He is also the manager of the hunter's dream created by the moon presence. That is the dream we awaken in at the start of the game.

"From the churches and the chapels
Came the ones we must pursue
And though I long to be unshackled
I shall see my burden through"

The hunter's dream was designed to hunt products of the beastly scourge. It is the healing church's blood ministration that leads to the beastly scourge. Gehrman, though the manager of the dream,, has grown tired of the role for obvious reasons. Regardless, he chooses to remain in his role despite knowing the way out (dying) which is why when the PC hunter chooses the second or third ending, Gehrman attributes it to madness for he knows what sort of a burden it is to be stuck forever in the nightmarish realm of the dream. Which is why he decides to fight and force the PC hunter out of the dream

On this longest night"

Another reference to the healing church; a sect Gehrman was affiliated to. Their use of the pale blood is what caused the hunt in the first place, and now on the longest night (the recurring Hunter's Dream) Gehrman is forced once again to watch the end of Yharnam

Verse 2 (Master Willieme)
"From my final perch I ponder
On the infinite and vast
In the blindness I still wander
Though my time has almost passed"

Master Willieme is first found by the PC hunter on a rocking chair in an elevated section of Bergwerth College. He is old and simply passing his final moments on the chair, having found out the true secret to enlightenment. Eyes. Still, he doesn't have enough and as such he still wanders in blindness.

"There are things I longed to teach you
In my institutions' creeds
Lurking just behind the corners
Of our own realities"

The institution here of course is Bergwerth College, and the main secret Master Willieme can teach us involves the lining of eyes to the mind with umbilical cords. This births great ones, and there is one (a success of the procedure) to be found (Rom the vacuous spider) when we follow Master Willieme's instruction and investigate the body of water ahead of him.

"And can you hear the choir sing
Voices fill the spires
Hymns of want still echoing
Prayers on the lips of liars"

Again another reference to the healing church, this time made by Master Willieme himself. The healing church was started by some of Master Willieme's old students. They pray for and seek enlightenment, but they go about it the wrong way with the use of pale blood which in turn caused the beastly scourge. Hence master Willieme refers to them as liars/deceivers for he warned them (particularly the church's founder, Lawrence) about the blood.

The rest of the song including the chorus is more reference to the eldritch truth of the world of bloodborne. it is thus fitting that 2 of the most informed characters about what really lurks behind the veil (Great Ones) are the ones who speak in verses 1 and 2

This literally gave me chills the entire time. I played Bloodborne for the very first time this year. I've since gotten the Platinum Trophy for it and it's started me on a journey through all of FromSoft's games but idk if any of the others can top it. Elden Ring came close but not quite, Sekiro is gonna be a couple points lower. Bloodborne has become my favorite game of all time, so it's a tall order to beat it. Nothing yet. I really do hope we get a sequel. Miyazaki has said he's down to do one if FromSoft lets him
