I'm simply Mexicano
ОтветитьI am all of them
ОтветитьI’m Chicano and I’m brown and proud. I wish they would have mentioned the Chicano Movement of the 60s and 70s that mobilized and politicized Chicanos in the United States southwest, and the many accomplishments that were a direct result of the movement.
It provided Mexicans in the US with an identity that embraced our indigenous ancestry and recognized our complex history. My pops always says the movement declared to the nation that we were just as much Mexican as any Mexican from Mexico and just as much citizen of this country as any white person in America. Therefore, they demanded to be treated with dignity and respect as true “Americans” of this land since our people are from the Americas!
Chicanos are Mexican and American and we are proud of our rich history which ultimately produced its own unique and distinct Mexican culture and later Chicano culture. Also, another achievement that was a direct result of the Chicano movement was the creation and development of Chicano and Latino Studies departments across the United States. Sadly many Latinos that attend institutions of higher education are unaware that they are standing on the shoulders of those who came before and who literally shed blood, sweat and tears in order to overcome the barriers to higher education so that future Chicanos/Latinos could have the opportunity to attend institutions of higher education.
In my opinion the term Chicano is still alive and strong. In fact, there are now central and South Americans who identify as Chicana/o because they align with the politicalization of the term.
Unfortunately, this news piece missed a huge piece of historical information regarding the term Chicano and its political implications. As Sal Castro used to say, “It’s a beautiful day to be a Chicano”
Mexican American Latino Hispanic Chicano or Native American
ОтветитьMy grandmother was native American people of Jalisco we are mestizo I'm Chicano too
ОтветитьAh, but they don't tell the full story about what "Chicano" means, and what goals and belief system it refers to. Why would they withhold or hide that information?
ОтветитьAs long as they don't use that latinx bs it's fine with me.
ОтветитьChicano is a Mexican with no mexico experience so he bases his culture on gang memebers that day one word of spanish every sentence and its fuccken sad their proud of that im mexican i can speak formal english and Spanish while this mind washed kids berly know 16 pages of words from the dictionary

ОтветитьIm from the UK, can someone explain Latina, Hispanic, Chicano, Mestizo, Chola culture, and what your views are to Italian Americans and Brazilians, are they considered Latino by some definition? What about Guido culture is it similar to Chola. Sorry do not mean to be obnoxious or ignorant or offensive, we consume A LOT of american media here and we dont have that real life lived experience irl or exposure. I grew up with tv shows that perpetuate latino stereotypes and i do enjoy reggaeton etc. I think you are not a monolithic peoples, you are beautiful in both your indigenous and/ or european ancestries and blended cultures. Respect to all
ОтветитьSo they didn't want to fight wht supremacists. They said, ";were like u"🫠🤣🤣🤣😭😭
ОтветитьChicano !!!!!
ОтветитьThe indigenous past is a very overly misused phrase. As the white Europeans from Spain and Portugal came to America there was already a very small population of indigenous peoples as compared to even the 14th century. Very quickly the European population passed and then vastly outnumbered the indigenous peoples, even by the late the 1500’s. To the point that by the mid 1600’s there was less then 10% of the entire Latin American geography’s population was indigenous, or even could trace roots back to indigenous. That gap only spread further as other peoples, from other European and African nations spread into the population. What some people attempt to do is distance themselves from there Caucasian past as it becomes less popular to claim that culture here.
Others claim indigenous if there family is traced back to Pre-British, overlooking the fact that even at that time the indigenous population was very, very small.
For example, my neighbor claims native Mexican ancestry even though all of his ancestors came to America from Spain, all very Caucasian. He states his family has been in America since 1580’s and they only married from within Spanish settlements.
In short, there are still indigenous peoples, though they make a very small percentage of
Chicano is a slur lol

ОтветитьI'm American but if you need to ask, Soy Chicano -- Con Safos --
ОтветитьFirst of all most of the people that America calls Hispanics or Latinos are native American ancestry period whether be Mexican guatemala Salvadorian south American the Caribbean we are native indigenous
ОтветитьI’m Mexican
ОтветитьIf your both parents are born in Mexico then your Mexican.
If one of your parents are born in the US and the other in Mexico your Chicano.
Swear y’all be saying things lol
Hispanic and Latin American are only used for Hispanic people born in a country that has Spanish as its official language. Chicanos are used to describe children of Mexicans who were not born in Latin America, this means that they only have ancestry and that makes them Chicanos, not Hispanics or Latinos.
ОтветитьIm a Texan, parents are Mexican.
ОтветитьThe term Chicano comes from michoacan which were the uncivilized Indian tribe when the riots zoot suit riots happen against the Marines in LA in the fifties
ОтветитьI identify myself as mexican...not Hispanic not latino not chicano..
ОтветитьYo soy CHICANO AND PROUD OF IT I QUE CABRONES 🇲🇽
ОтветитьI'm just Mexikatl. If you lack knowledge of the Americas... then Nawa or Xicano.
ОтветитьWell I was born in México so I don’t have this problem. I’m Mexican 😌
ОтветитьWho is a descendant of the Spaniards ? I’ve never met anybody that identified as that. Even Puerto Ricans don’t say I’m American though Puerto Rico is a state.
ОтветитьI hate being classified as Latino or Hispanic because your grouping me in with a bunch of other people who have nothing to do with my roots as a Central American I don't see a Cuban , Puerto Rican , or Mexican and think those are my people we are not the same in anything plus we all just don't like each other so putting us in a same group is wierd to me
ОтветитьOne time i got a job gardening and we got pulled over by border patrol cop came to my window you got your papers .papers? Papers to what .
Ответить"chicano" applies only to mexican americans born in california, mexican americans born in texas call themselves "texanos", mexican americans born in new mexico call themselves "burqueros", Mexicans from tijuana call themselves "cachanillas", mexicans from sinaloa "chinolas" etc, etc, Thats how I see it, Im mexican american born in cali and my family and relatives that were also born in the states weve never called ourselves chicanos, Not all mexican americans born in cali identify with something that is very strongly tied to gang culture because not all mexican americans are gang bangers
ОтветитьKinłichini nishłį́, Naakai dine'é Bashishchiin; y tambien soy Chicano…with ancestors from many parts of the world.
ОтветитьI came up with the term Hispano-Chicano. It means you're a Chicano with a New Mexico backround.
