Oscar's created and ran by white people. There, I explained everything for you.

According to my opinion, Oscar's hit and miss approach is a part of its viewership strategy, just the opposite of Indian National Film Awards. I mean just look at the trend of National Awards ceremony. Deserving actors like Vicky Kaushal, Keerthy Suresh, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Shahid Kapoor got awards for their roles, attendees also clapped and went home. But Ceremony's viewership has been hitting low year by year, although these kind of programs have a scope to be watched at least by sophisticated people. On the other hand, Oscar's create a chaos by doing hit and miss in choosing winners and other controversies, so that they'll catch the limelight.

So talent is secondary to race?

But they were purposefully ignoring great works from other races in this country. Parasite, a great film, recently won an Oscar because they finally recognized non white artists for once.

My fellow friends, here are two answers:
Do you think that the oscars should be awarded to the filmmakers and actors that put that most effort in and create the most brilliant film.
Or should the oscars be given to people with cultural diversity based on the colour of their skin?

The last Oscars were the most diverse they have ever been...and coincidentally were the most irrelevant they have ever been.

We’ve been discussing the lack of diversity in the film industry for years. Until the academy diversifies we will continue to see the same results.

Why is homogeneity horrible?

Films with people of color do get Oscars.... They only get them when that person of color is rescued/adopted by a white person after said white person gives up a 6 figure salary on Wall Street to save kids in Africa and India and find his/her spiritual connection.

1. African American Americans and Latino American Americans are a small minority compared to the large majority of coucasians.
2. Not trying to be rude but films that are produced by AAA's or by LAA's can be really bad. But I understand why, compared to Hollywood actors most producers don't have large sets and big budgets.
3. The movies only have about 5,800 people who can vote. And a large portion of the movies selected are of white males so it would be really rare for someone of a different background or ethnicity to win.

If most good films are films with white men under 50, then why should people vote otherwise? I'll vote for the movies I think are good, not for the sake of voting for a more diverse movie.

If you wanna win an Oscar or even get nominated, you better be willing to pay out. The money talks in Hollywood.

Also I disagree that more blockbusters are being nominated in the more "respected" categories like Best Picture, Director, etc. With a more diverse Academy I've seen more attention given to smaller films while most blockbusters are at best only getting nominated for awards on technical aspects like Film Editing or Sound Mixing, which has been a main contributor to the Oscars losing viewership gradually each year. Hell, awards like Best Animated Feature and, if it does get added, Best Blockbuster have been made to deal with backlash for certain kinds of films not getting awarded. You may as well call Best Animated Feature the Disney/Pixar Award as it was made primarily for those films not being given any nods for Best Picture.

Hmm I wonder why women don’t win best director a lot? PROBABLY BECAUSE THE VAST MAJORITY OF DIRECTORS OF MEN AND IDK, MAYBE THE AWARD SHOULD GO TO A PERSON NOT BECAUSE OF THEIR GENDER BUT THEIR ACTUAL SKILL OF DIRECTING

Maybe you could provide some specific instances where a white person won an award over a POC that was clearly becuase of racism. Or where a white person was nominated over a POC that was because of racism....
Awards should be given becuase of nothing other than merits.
Also, stop blaming everything on racism, Sexism or whatever other oppression word. Calling everything racist devalues the meaning. We had a black president for 2 terms and yet people act like we live in a time what has more racism than the jim crow South..

Everyone can have their own opinions, but they cant have their own facts. The Oscar awards is still bias and this video demonstrates that perfectly, just because its improved slightly doesn't mean the problem is fixed. There is a wealth of Actors/Actresses from all walks of life and sadly they still aren't being appreciated to their fullest.

The problem is that the people who decide what gets an award in Hollywood come from a religion that believes that they are the master race.

There is one African American actress to win Best Actress. ONE. And that was Halle Berry in 2001. One, out of almost 91 years.

I feel like diversity is a wrong agenda. Nobody should care about diversity, but instead care about a fair process with deserved nominees without any bias against anyone. This wrong agenda fails to grasp the idea behind it, and makes it look like people are looking for diversity for the sake of diversity.

You have to be suffering from serious victimhood paranoia to actually believe that Oscar nominations are based on racial bias and not just who they thought did the best job.
Film-making is art, people, and art is subjective. Now stop whining and get over it.
