Are hymns protected by copy right?
ОтветитьCrap made crap got it.
ОтветитьSo, my question now is, how come songs NOW are not borrowing from it? When did it stop? I think actually the latest that I know of was Memories by Maroon 5.
ОтветитьYour videos always blow my mind. Can't thank you enough!
ОтветитьBrilliant video. But I disagree that Phil Collins made "A groovy Kind of love" famous, it already was back in the day by Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders.
ОтветитьYou mean Randy California and Bach's Bourrée? Then Jimmy Page arrived...
ОтветитьYou sound British. Surely you mean a quaver. Stop grovelling around americans
ОтветитьWell, isn't it obvious that every person that is practicing music on a daily base is influenced by some older piece here and there?
There are only so much combinations of notes and scales.
I dare anyone to invent a new piece without me or someone else putting a so called plagiarism claim to it.
It is a natural thing to do. Any creativity is always underscored by former versions
The most outrageous steal is the musical Kismet, directly taken from Borodin.
ОтветитьOne good example of that is ''Lemon Incest'' by Serge Gainsbourg, based on Frédéric Chopin's Étude Op. 10, No. 3
ОтветитьYou can go back a lot further to find classical melodies. There are some every decade.
ОтветитьI keep hearing this John Williams theory and I just don't hear it. Similar tones but a rip off? No. No more than all pop 3 chord songs rip each other off.
ОтветитьYou forget malmsteen all his songs is based on classic music
ОтветитьHearing it for the first time, I legitimately thought Tubular Bells was L’s theme from Death Note
ОтветитьNot sure when this video was made, but to me the biggest "homage" is Maroon 5 'Memories' and Pachelbel's Canon.
ОтветитьYou left out "All By Myself" and Rachmaninoff. Actually you said it wrong. It is not the publishing that determines it. 75 years after the composer death is the accepted rule.
ОтветитьIt's a Hard Life by Queen opens with the a line from Vesta la giubba from Pagliacci
ОтветитьThere is no such thing as Classical Music. When Beethoven was alive his music was Pop(ular) Music.
ОтветитьI can’t believe you forgot about Spinal Tap’s Mozart/Bach meetup, “Lick My Love Pump”
ОтветитьThose thieving sons of bitches. Genius
ОтветитьNever Ever from All Saints is based on Amazing Grace.
ОтветитьI also noticed the similarities between "Air on a string g" and "A whiter shade of pale"
ОтветитьGreat video! My grandson of 16 has started to learn guitar playing and he has picked up music instinctively. This is why he plays classical music on his phone playlist. Can this be a his inner composer seeking its true roots?? ❤❤
ОтветитьAround the 3 minute mark, who else got that JCS Caiaphas song in their heads?
ОтветитьThere should be a whole video devoted to the shameless, serial music thief Jimmy Page. This man is a common thief. He is incapable of composing quality melody, this leaving him with two options : steal or accept his limitations. He over and over chose the former. Why be a man of honour when money and glory can be yours if you steal ? His plagiarism has been well documented. He was also a satanist. He bought the house of the famous satanist Crowley. He owned an occult bookshop. David Bowie had his house exorcised not once but twice following a Page visit because Page left so much dark energy in his house. Page is very slippery. When a young lady in a public forum confronted him about his satanism, he deflected with consummate skill.
ОтветитьBernstein's inspiration for the opening notes of Somewhere came from the slow movement of Anton Bruckner's sixth symphony. He practically said so himself!
ОтветитьRomance Theme also parallels Lily's Theme from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt2
ОтветитьWhere the White Stripes at? lol. C'mon.
ОтветитьCanon in D maj by pachelbel has been ripped off soOo much
ОтветитьI understand artists using classical or any music as influence, a tribute or whatever but as more music is written, there are only a finite amount of notes, chords and note lengths etc. There's bound to be duplication purely by chance. Copyright laws really fall short of reality in this respect.
ОтветитьHISBP DUBS
ОтветитьInstantly recognized the Romance Theme from Lieutenant Kijé as God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen. Fascinating!
ОтветитьWhat about Blue Traveler’s Hook? It is pachabel’s cannon. The spoken / semi-rap part is literally the main melody.
ОтветитьI don't understand why the earlier versions of Groovy Kind of Love weren't used here for the examples. They were faster and wouldn't have had to been speeded up to hear the connection. I've always preferred the older versions. They sound, well, groovy, rather than melancholy.
ОтветитьCan't you see he's the man, let me hear you applaud, he is more than a man, he's a SHINYGOLDENGOD
ОтветитьLick my Love Pump, Nigel Tufnel ... influenced by Mozart and Bach.
ОтветитьI have no musical education apart from just listening, but this video made me feel like I understand music writing and production. Well done.🖖
ОтветитьThe term 'lifted' is used throughout the video. Then, near the end some "borrowings" are described as 'plagiarized' or 'ripped off'. That begs the question whether the original composers would prevail in court if copyright still existed. I assume that some would and others wouldn't.
Ответить'Rock Your Socks' by Tenacious D also has a passage where the Bourrée in E minor is played and sung over. They even mention Bach in the lyrics
ОтветитьNimrod from Elgars enigma variations also seems to be based of the second movement of the pathetique.
ОтветитьJust found your channel, will watch all the vids, great stuff
Ответитьamazing analysis
ОтветитьI heard Dragonball GT theme song motive sound like Mahler Symphony 2 2nd movement
ОтветитьNot exactly "classical", but Rush adapted Raymond Scott's "assembly line" instrumental "Powerhouse" in the segments of "Monsters!" and "Monsters! (Reprise)" in "La Villa Strangiato".
ОтветитьYes, enough cannot be said for the genius and brilliance of Chinese artists!
Ответить
