Hi, what you think about Pioneer Plx1000?
Ответить❓Wouldn't it be reasonable to quantify the upgrade's sound improvement for each single action ? Especially when your budget is limited. 🤔🧐
ОтветитьI think the TD-1000 does an even better job on the older SL-1200.
ОтветитьI guess one could call adding a mustache to the Mona Lisa “an upgrade”.
ОтветитьTime step power supplies r overpriced... I had 1 and sold it.. I purchased a 12 v linear PS from Ali express.. 50 GBP its built like a tank
ОтветитьYou forgot some kind or record clamp, especially since you have a light mat.
ОтветитьBS
ОтветитьI'm surprised Technics doesn't make a newer suspended platter/ tone arm design like they had back in the 70s and early 80s. I have a Technics SL1800 mk2 that was based on the 1200 but had a full dampened suspension. You can jump up and down, or knock on the plinth and will never hear any thumps. Its a great design.
ОтветитьHave just ordered an open box deal 1210 GR and my intention is to fit my Jelco arm and Kuetso Red cartridge I also have a Colloro mat .
ОтветитьI'm using a amethyst rock mated liège at the corner of the tonearm.
I like the idea.
This will blow your purist minds. I use my GR solely for scratching 😁
ОтветитьThinking either the Ortofon 2MBlue or the Audio Technica AT-VM95SH which has a Shibata Stylus....which do you think maybe better for a Technics SL1210GR ?
What is a Shibata Stylus ?
from this video It looks like that Technics 1200 GR should be completely rebuilt with 3rd party parts. Maybe also it should be turned into belt drive. If all of that is true this turntable is not worth the money. I am still using my vintage SL-2000 that after 40 years still giving a goos sound through Pioneer SX750 and Wharfedale E-50 speakers.
ОтветитьHi thanks for another great video, I have an 1210GAE, with the Nagaoka JT-1210 cartridge, and I love it! This cartridge that was specifically tuned by a joint team of engineers from Technics and Nagaoka. Have you had the oportunity to listen to it, what do you think about it?
Ответитьyou mention so many items for upgrade but many of them dont have a link in your description. kindly add the names of the items at least. an example - headshell upgrade
ОтветитьCart compliance (combined) weight is techical requirement, not an upgrade.
ОтветитьRezon nance you mean non sense.
ОтветитьThe only upgrade I've made to my GR is the addition of the Little Fwend tonearm lifter. Lovely little thing. No longer have to rush over at the end of every album.
ОтветитьThis guy is so cluless.
ОтветитьI have the same TT in black 1210G.I'm using MNPCTEC height adjustment feet in silver with sorbothane isolation. There one lb a peice. I love the way thet look. Alsoim considering using a Ikea chopping board for a plinth.
ОтветитьThis is basically all nonsense. At no point do you mention how any of these upgrades actually improve the sound (or if there is any noticeable change at all). You just say ‘this is better’. Don’t get me wrong, a $10k sme tone arm will sound better - but so would any other $13k turntable. If you are a technophile who loves to tinker and upgrade for the sake of it, go for it (and I’m actually largely in this camp), but please don’t go buying all this 3rd party shit expecting some kind of bargain revelation to sound quality, and don’t recommend it without that caveat.
ОтветитьDid buy the Washi Teac Mat, fantastic on the Platter of Technics SL 1500c. Better than the Linn-Mat or a Carbon-Mat. Thanks for the good Infos.
ОтветитьGerard Stroh***
Hi ANADIALOG***
I have A Vintage Pioneer PL-600 Quartz Lock Direct Drive Turntable and With My Audio Technica AT33sa Moving Coil Phono Cartridge and MC Pro-ject Phono Box Rs XLR Preamp and What I Did I Put Some Extra Shielding inside and Around the tonearm Wires to Keep the Noise Coming in the Audio Signal***
I would Like to Get The Technics SL-1200g That's on your Video!!!
My Vintage Pioneer Turntable is Super Heavy!!!!
I am Looking At A Pro-Ject Record Cleaning Machine and I think it Goes for $599***
Bye From Gerard Stroh**
Top tip. Clean the contacts in the head shell with switch cleaner. It's a simple thing but I am sure you will notice the difference. Your audio chain is only as good as the weekest link.
ОтветитьSpecial Japanese tree that only grows during fullmoon at the winter solstice, and the mat is summoned when specially trained monks does their chants around this tree during solar eclipses.
Very high end.
.. Atleast the scientific reasoning behind my acrylic Achromat with it's randomly sized/shaped air pockets makes some sense, from an acoustic point of view. 😅
I'm not saying it's better than special Japanese wood,
- I would need to hear it first 😜
I also have the ultimate expensive thick and heavy Nagaoka crystal glass platter.
The achromat sounds better to my ears, while simultaneously being half the price..!
Once you heard the all new Mcintosh MCD-12000 Tube CD Player with DAC your never want to go back to Vinyl again at any price ! 😇Audio Heaven..as close as Analog as it gets 😉
ОтветитьThis guy completely upgraded by getting rid of it and getting EMT turntable instead.
Ответить$300 on the mat is stupid.😂
ОтветитьSo you basically chose a totally wrong turntable as I see. :D But interesting video.
ОтветитьAudiophile waffle, its only as good as your ears.
ОтветитьI would give a grand to someone who could blind hear the difference in power coords, it makes ZERO sense it could make ANY difference.
ОтветитьI should mention that Fremer's videos on the Caliburn versus the Technics, showed the Caliburn sounded more like music than the Technics.
ОтветитьThank you for the review of possible upgrades. I like the Funk Firm package they put for Technics SL1200 series (absorbing feet, absorbing rug, houdini cartridge add on). But the weakness of the turntable seems to be the tonearm. The tonearm you recommend for upgrade no longer exists. In fact, it is a struggle to find a tonearm of good quality with a removable headshell. Why is that? There would be a niche market there with significant profits. Technics SL 1200 is by far the most sold turntable. Would you have any tonearm suggestions for 2022-2023?
ОтветитьRe-ZONN-ance? It's REZ-oh-nance. Otherwise, your English is fine, with only a slight accent.
ОтветитьNothing new here; I had an original SL120 with an SME 3009 series ii detachable head shell complete with the original FD200 fluid damper and an ADC magnesium head shell. I used various cartridges; ADC XLM, Stanton 681EEE, Shure V15. Ortofon M20 FL. This was before moving coil cartridges became popular. This was over 40 years ago, what goes around comes around?
ОтветитьPower cable... Snake oil. You mean that the last one and half meter or cable can inductively get the noise that maybe hundreds of meters of unshielded cables inside the walls of your house do not? That tenth or hundreds Km of power cables from the origin of your energy and connected to almost any source of noise know to man do not? What comes in most of our houses it's not "clean" sinusoidal alternated current by itself. It's the main task of a good power supply, inside (or outside) your device to "clean" as much as possible that current. But let's say that it could happen that your power cable intercepts some noise that your in-wall cables do not, a most effective solution would be a low pass filter not an almost useless shielded cable or some kind of conductors made of unobtanium extracted on a full moon night.
ОтветитьThe mat that is advised here doesn't seem to have an indentation (lower part) at the center where the label of the LP resides. So the LP more or less floats in an instable manner above the mat, only making contact with the mat via the label. How can that be a good thing?! I use the Funk Firm Achromat which has such an indentation for the label; I like the relaxation of the sound it provides (Turntable VPI Scoutmaster Signature).
ОтветитьWhat are you using for a phono preamp?
ОтветитьWhat program do you use to make the intro
ОтветитьGreat video. FYI - it’s RESonance as opposed to resONance :)
ОтветитьMadness..the price…but good advice for millioneers
Ответить: No Offense: " Res On Ance, " " Tea Ak "
ОтветитьWill rounded housed power cables fit the technics? I saw you recommended one in another video, but wasn't sure if that would fit the turntable since they plug is at the bottom. or what would you recommend that's not too expensive. Need at least 3 meters or more..
ОтветитьNonsense! Just get a reconditioned SL1200 or a SL1210s oiled damped. Cables including earth wire and the tone arm well positioned which you can do yourself and a decent cartridge with stylus and you are ready to play.
I have o be of each placed on a correct wooden and foam platform and to this day I have had no problems recording vinyl or listening to music.
I can even pick up thew turntable and the needle won’t jump!
Seriously, you don’t need to buy a mark 7 version if you are on a budget or similar…
Yeah but the price of atlaa cables
Pure 100% silver 15k+ a lead is a wee bit out of range but yeah as you say the silver copper rca is the first uprated part thats needed
The best upgrade I performed on my SL-1200 MK2 was replacing the stock tonearm for a Jelco TK-850S. Night & day difference. Unfortunately Jelco as a company closed and stopped manufacturing due to the pandemic.
ОтветитьI bought one of these just to play my old Disney records.
ОтветитьSo you have a church somewhere in the neighbourhood...
ОтветитьEvery upgrade you make. you're just changing the sound that was intended by the engineers.
Does it sound better?
Nobody knows for sure, actually.
It's just different.
Caliburn is not $25k. It’s over $100k at least
Ответить
