I don’t think Jon is going to be a beloved ruler so much as an extremely effective one. He’ll be a winter king, and will bring all the fury of winter with him. A reaper. But for those same reasons, he can’t rule indefinitely in winterfell. Seasons have to change, and Jon must go north.
ОтветитьNo one could have predicted the fall of Winterfell, breaking his betrothal with the Freys caused him to lose the war but Catelyn releasing Jaime greenlighted the red wedding
ОтветитьSpeaking of football, im glad these videos are here, waiting to distract me from a disappointing season
ОтветитьI know it's not the stream I've been waiting for a stream about Caitlyn to ask this burning question I've had since she because lady stoneheart. She's brought back by magic, I wonder if in the time that she's dead she sees the truth of Jon's parents, and why ned did what he did and maybe after Jon's resurrection they meet at some point and I know she can't talk but maybe a hand in Jon's face and a hug or something will happen to give that story some sort of a ending. She's awful towards him, even more so in the books, and it sits uneasy in my head that there is no end to that.
ОтветитьLoveee the Hightower intro!!! The only time I will have hightower and love in the same sentence.
ОтветитьI always miss the stream but these are my favorite videos! Always here for the rewatch 👏
ОтветитьMiki is great! Don't know if she's been on before but i love her voice.
ОтветитьWhat a great stream. I love getting myself all upset over the failings of Rob and Catelyn. Thanks for the reupload for us Monday morning viewers.
ОтветитьI think the only thing he could have given Walter Frey that might have had a chance was to take governorship of the riverlands from the Tullys and give it to the Freys. But then he stands a great chance of losing Tully support (and the support of other riverlanders who are happy under the Tullys).
ОтветитьThe starks are ASOIAF'S version of the Kennedy's lol
ОтветитьAs usual, I come away with so many things brought up in the video I want to address. So many people say that Robb should've been more aggressive with Walder Frey, and I think they don't realize the full situation. When Robb leaves The Twins its said he does so with the Frey levies. Implying he has much of his own banners and garrisonijg The Twins. Historically, most castles were never successfully stormed, victorious sieges mostly came from starving out the occupants. The Twins are a pair of strong, super well located fortresses, strongly manned. The only way your crossing is siezing The Twins (which would take ages with Tywin approaching with a numerically superior relief force) or getting Walder's permission. Under the circumstances, Walder kinda has them over barrel. A more aggressive approach would've gotten everyone killed. The game is Come Into My Castle and it's Walder's castle.
ОтветитьDavid, I only have one qualm, and it’s the fact that Brandon was called the wild wolf, and was a reputed lady killer. Asking ashara to dance for ned and having bariston say “she looked to a stark, which could be Brandon or ned, if he was betrothed to cat why would it be outrageous for him to knock boots with his bride to be, before he left for king’s landing? I think it makes sense if cat was pregnant before she married ned and Robb was born while ned was away, you said it yourself that they never mentioned his birth date, and that leads me to the biggest part which is her feelings about Jon a bastard, she’s not just upset that her new husband has a new son, she’s super protective of her natural born children’s rights to winterfel, where the laws in the universe clearly states that bastards cannot inherit, so there wouldn’t be any issue unless Jon was a psychopath like Ramsey. Which he’s not, he’s more like ned then any of her natural born children with Ned and she brings that up multiple times. Unless the people of the north got wind of the true lineage of either boy there wouldn’t be an issue unless cat knew in her own mind for a fact that Robb her first born was not the rightful heir, hence why she had such concern for bran when he fell, because he was actually the true heir to winterfell. she schemes to get rid of Jon and begs ned to send him away, because she knows her own son is not theirs, it’s something about the person who protested too much has something to hide, Robb reacts to things in a emotional way much like Brandon, I don’t believe ned would have ended up marrying Jayne if their position was switched, but Brandon would’ve done what he desired, very much like Robb, plus the theme of George’s books seems to be love triangles, and unrequited love. If cat and Brandon were deeply involved, it would make sense to have her end up with Ned who did not love her deeply but married her out of duty, in cats pov she’s always commenting on how their love has grown from nothing, and that she knew he would never have married her if Brandon hadn’t died.
ОтветитьThe death of Jory still pains me!
ОтветитьRob was a brilliant tactician but a terrible politician.
ОтветитьI love your content but the opening music is annoying
ОтветитьI drive 600km in a day, 2 to 3 times a week. These live streams are saving my life! Thanks David
ОтветитьMonday mornings are my favourite day of the week! I never thought i would say those words 😅😅

Miki is so damn cute, awesome stream as always

ОтветитьYou guys you guys YOU GUYS
A bared sword laid across the lap is a denial of guest-right. Almost the opposite of offering your guest bread and salt

ОтветитьIMO what Robb could have done to survive, or even win was (Not in any sequential order): the unofficial "Hindsight is 20/20" list
1. Send Catlyn back to Winterfell; as much as she aided him in her advice, she ruined him by letting Jaime go and lost him the Karstarks, who in turn wreaked havoc in the North once they defected. She didn't do much in trying to get the Baratheon brothers in line either.
2. Handle Frey differently; obvious, but a few routes that could have been taken: (a) call Frey out on his proposal and do the wedding ASAP and demand Frey to let him pick which daughter he married; (b) negotiate directly and offer Rikkon's hand in marriage (Bran is crippled and cannot father children - Sansa and Arya are presumed to be in the Lannister's clutches); (c) assuming Robb marries Jayne anyway - go to the Red Wedding with his army behind him and make a show of force to Frey - yeah I didn't abide by a pact someone else made on my behalf and without my knowledge. I'm your king, this is my army, and you will marry a daughter of my choice to my uncle, your liege lord. Shut the fuck up and take it.
3. Never send Theon to the Iron Islands.
4. Never be separated from Grey Wind, ever.
5. Have Bolton's forces be the vanguard in battles. Bolton had the most men, use them (Stark and Bolton never got along, and have your frenemy exhaust his resources). If Bolton refuses, accuse him of treason and take him out.
6. Try to align with Stannis. Robb didn't want the Iron Throne, just vengeance for Ned. Ned died over Stannis's claim to the throne. Robb would bend the knee to Stannis, and likely that his lords would agree since Stannis more aligned with Ned's sense of justice and honor, the past alliance of Stark and Baratheon would play. Perhaps offer Bran to marry Shireen (both crippled and would bond Stark and Baratheon through marriage). A future daughter of Robb to marry a future son of Stannis (or vice versa). The only obstacle in this course would be Renly. Use this alliance to get Renly on their side. Convince Renly this is the path to victory and make him Stannis's heir if he has no sons. Keep the Tyrells in line by maintaining Renly's marriage to Margery and that'd be easy by having Renly be the heir. This route would make it Stark, Baratheon, Tyrell, and Tully versus Lannister (Arryns and Martells are sat the war of 5 kings out) and make it a relatively easy win as Tywin would likely concede to preserve as many lives of his family as he can.
Not taking Dany's eventual arrival to Westeros into account or any Long Night scenario. This is just a War of 5 Kings idea list.
The Starks will rise again!! in my best southern accent
ОтветитьWhy?! You just had to read Rob tucking Bran into bed and now I’m sniffling in the grocery store.
ОтветитьWe're your family LML. And remember, all families have at least one mythhead in them.
ОтветитьRobb took half the northern force cause he wanted to act quickly, the sack of winterfell with such a small force was lazy writing by George.
The north can gather 40-50k
Most of Robb’s problems are Tullys being weak in the first place allowing Freys to do whatever they want.
Can you imagine a Northern banner man not obeying a Stark at that point?
They whipped out house Greystark their own kin for being traitorous their only mistake was that they kept the Bolton as bogeyman.
Sorry I missed this live. Love the North especially the Starks. Rob Stark was doomed , when you review hi life s decisions & take alternatives forward—-doomed.
ОтветитьI do think regarding before he entered into talks with the Walder Frey, Robb should have:
1. Sent Cait and Theon to Winterfell, Cait to care for Rickon, Theon to guard Winterfell and act as Bran's 2nd (Caitlyn would have HATED that but it would have greatly appealed to Theon) and obviously sent some men with the honor to protect Winterfell and the little Princes.
2. Hear me out: Sent ROOSE to beat Greyjoy into leading the Iron fleet. Roose would have been able to deal with the Ironborn AND would have been honored to secure it AND he gets to be a Bolton about it
3. Had Edmure rushed up to put the Frey's in line
4. Yeah Karstark to the Wall
5. No we won't trade Jaime for the girls BUT: We will treat him as well as you treat my sisters and Joffrey once boosted of besting me with live steel. We are no longer playing at Winterfell if he still believes so.
Can i make a friendly observation? I watch almost all of your content, and very often streams i've seen before are playing while i game or clean or whatever. But i think you should spend less time reading chat while your guests are speaking. Looking forward to the next stream! and please don't take this the wrong way.
ОтветитьI think Rob married the girl because he didn't want a bastard like his father had, if Catelyn had been nicer to Jon, Rob wouldnt have broken his promise and he would be alive.
Ответить🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьDave my friend, I found a channel that may interest you. It's called Three Eyed Theorist and does videos on hypothetical ideas in A Song Of Ice And Fire, like the one I just watched is " what if Robb Stark prevented the red wedding. Very interesting stuff. You should check it out if you have time.
ОтветитьThanks Dave and Miki, awesome stuff.
STARK! KING IN THE NORTH! STARK!!!
Re: the Freys, are the Twins sought after territory? Are the inter-house politics in the Riverlands stable enough to where the Tullys could smoothly replace the Freys with another house or knight without drawing resentment?
ОтветитьRobb's similarity to Lyanna in how and when they die bring up the idea of he and Jon as Nissa Nissa and Azor Ahai *as brothers*. I'm not if or how much the text leans into this, but Jon desires what Robb has, even dreams of murdering him to get it despite their mutual brotherly love. Plus, Robb's death does lead to Jon's predicted death and resurrection in a roundabout way.
ОтветитьHey Miki, you're so fine.
ОтветитьViewing Robb through his mother’s eyes really does put you in Catelyn’s shoes, when he dies you feel like your baby boy has died. Yes he’s the oldest, but he’s still a kid.
Ответитьthe cleganes use greatsword, and the mountains maybe greatsword ++
ОтветитьThe problem with Cat and Robb is that they both are right about certain things but don’t want to take the other’s advice. Cat should have stayed and picked the Frey bride. Robb should not have trusted Theon and sent someone else to Pike.
ОтветитьCatlin marriage into Frey would have been better than Edmure, post insult.
ОтветитьI think Theon's motivation in saving Bran was instinct. Nothing unites like an external enemy. Imagine you were strolling through the woods with some acquaintances, pop behind a bush to go to the loo and come back to see they're being attacked. Who would you choose to help? Your acquaintances or aggressive strangers? Even if he hated Bran, better the devil you know.
ОтветитьAlong the whole great long Green Fork, surely that's not the only place a bridge could be built? All you'd have to do is build another bridge & castles nearby and that's the Freys' monopoly screwed. The ancient Romans bridged the Danube with a similar level of technology and that's waaaay harder.
ОтветитьWow Greywaste Tim is alot prettier then usual?😊
ОтветитьGeez that wuz sum poetry reading! David/grrm, Good on ya!!
Ответитьi just got the chance to watch this back, and WOW! what an amazing character dive. great work dave and miki ❤
ОтветитьI truly loveee the Robb and Bran moments!! Their brotherly love is my fav to read!! When they're alone in the dark it's so vulnerable and sweet!
Ответитьcutest girl ever.
great stream. <3
