The main reason dinosaurs are so scary is because they're depicted as such. They're "shrinkwrapped", when an animal is depicted with little to no flesh on them so they look more bony than actual animals, and they're shown to be killing machines. No one depicts, say, a T-rex playing with its sibling, sleeping, being social, trying to attract a mate, or anything of the sort. Therefore you're left with just monsters that were made to kill.

its only terrifying to us to think about because it’s something we aren’t used to. Think about when someone who has never been out in nature before hears all these sounds they never heard they panic and freak out but someone who has heard them before knows its most likely nothing to worry about. Same concept with dinosaurs really they only seem really scary now because of how much bigger they were than what we have today and we don’t fully understand them.

Or... and hear me out now... Sharks and Crocodiles exist along with Gar Fish. Those are Dinosaurs.

What makes them less scary is that we know and understand them, and how "easy" they are to kill
