Star Citizen had a rough 2023 but by the end of the year the persistent universe is back to a really playable state and I think 2024 is going to be fire for the project.

In my opinion KSP is great for those who want to extend their creativity beyond the A4 sheets they were limited to as a child. Star citizen is quite complex but that’s what makes it beautiful in my opinion, if your child loves being creative and has some form of love for physics I highly recommend they get Kerbal Space Program

No Man's Sky is the most fun of the space sim games, is a game made aiming folks from all ages so it has most mechanics you expect from a space sim game at the same time that it is very accessible.
Space Engeneers i never play but i played Empyrion and Starship Evo, i prefer the later, but the appeal of this games is construction especially space ship contruction.

I have KSP here and i never tried to play it, isn't the premise the same as Space Engeneers?
I would add to this list instead of KSP, X4 that it is a Empire building space sim.

No one explain WHY ED is a great space sim game.
This game has a 1/1 open world Milk Way map, you can LITERALLY SEE ORION from Solar System in this game.
Also folks shouldn't forget to buy the Odissey DLC for the game, because it adds ground exploration and combat.

Star Citizen kinda annoys me... at this point i would even add SpaceBourne 2 in it's place because it is a more close game to been released than SC.
But ok, SC is a great space sim, but i don't consider the best, yes grpahically and gamplay wise it is a tech marvel, their ships are amazing and all, but unless you have friends to play this game, it quickly gets boring.

Add some bonus points here:
X4 is probably criminaly underrated, the amount of folks who don't know ANYTHING about this game and don't have any idea of what is this game is about is insane.
Seriously, is like play Stellaris in first person and YES with all mechanics you can have in a space sim game, by the way, X4 is the ONLY game that allows me to hire a pilot to fly my OWN SHIP if i want to, this feature is specially useful once you start to deal with the empire building mechanics of the game, just order your pilot to fly somewhere and do your stuff.
Also the amount of the ships the player can fly at any moment is staggering.
You can assemble fleets with hundreds of fighters dozens of destroyers, battleships, and carriers (theres absolutely no game that gives you the experience of ordering your fleet from the bridge of your carrier and then just go to the hangar and see your fighters taking off, and if you want, simply enter in one of them and go to battle too.
Battles in X4 is the most cinematic battles i ever saw in a videogame, you don't fight with single ships, you fight with fleets.

In my opinion, i dont really like games where you are flying. I mean gta flying is cool ngl. But like this, i dont really like

There’s also Universe sandbox 2, which is exactly what it sounds like, you can spawn, customize, collide, and more.
There’s space engine, which is like where you can go and see what the surface of other planets look like as you free roam the universe.

No man’s sky would not run on my 2020 MacBook Pro. I kept getting a white screen at the start of the game and so got a refund from Steam. Does anyone know how this issue could be solved?
