They should make X (Formerly known as Twitter) work like this.
ОтветитьAnother great option is LamChat

ОтветитьOne massive advantage Session has over Signal (and with recent its recent downgrade Telegram too) is that it can work on a PC (or Tablet) stand alone. None of the phone number based apps allow this. Telegram did until recently (you just needed a dumb phone to get the text).
I have many people I wish to use IM with who have a dumb phone, and unsupported phone, or a phone with no space or they just have no desire for yet another app on, who can quite happily install an app on their PC or Mac. Telegram used to be ideal for this, but no more.
Session is the best replacement I have found so far.
Outdated video. SimpleX is better
ОтветитьMy personal gripe with Signal is the inability to delete contacts without blocking them. First of all, I do not necessarily wish to block phone numbers if I simply want idle contacts gone. Not only that, if you then unblock those numbers they re-appear as contacts. What the hell, Signal? Incompetence, drugs or both?
ОтветитьSessions is created by the police
ОтветитьSession is created by police
ОтветитьThx
ОтветитьSus App no trust. Think about encro.
It's a trap!
The biggest problem that keeps me from using Session or any app like it is that I want an alternative to emails, which Session is not. It is a chat box for conversations. Emails do not require prior approval or a membership to be seen, so it really is like sending an old fashioned letter. But emails are totally sent in the clear and anyone can read them if they intercept them. I have yet to find anything that exists that is an alternative to the functionality of emails.
ОтветитьIt has metadata issues and not well known routing system no ?
ОтветитьSignal isn’t encrypted at all the government don’t even need your number to read your messages
ОтветитьI read that signal had been completely compromised by FBI/NSA. ZERO privacy to those agencies.
Downloaded session today trying to find info if it’s been equally compromised.
But there is no middleground between anonimity and no anonimity. It's like "sligtly pregnant". If anonimity is compromised - the app has no anonimity.
ОтветитьCan Session run on Emulator? I failed to do it, it can not connect to the path
ОтветитьFor the session ID, how safe for business type work. Like if I were to my session ID on my video, so that way so that way if someone wants to text me they can get it that way?
ОтветитьSignal is good for people you know in real life, but I can see session being far more useful for communicating with online friends and such
ОтветитьDoes session support SMS? Can you replace your default messaging app like you used to be able to with signal?
Ответитьwill there be a review of xx messenger? maybe a comparison between those?
ОтветитьI like your contents. I appreciate your works. But there are some mistake in your videos. In a video you said Signal doesn't have End to End Encryption Backup. That doesn't correct. Signal has this option since the beginning. Also session is not so secure nor private unlike Signal. Session doesn't have Perfect Forward Secrecy unlike Signal. Which means session uses the same encryption key to encrypt and decrypt the message. If the key get stolen all your previous and upcoming message can be decrypted. Which is perfectly mitigate in Signal with the help of Perfect Forward Secrecy. Signal change the key frequently. So, if the key get to wrong hand they can't access all the messages.

ОтветитьHi everyone, After making this video I received an email identifying an important correction. Rather than explain, here's the email...
"I just wanted to point out that Session does not actually use Tor. Onion routing is its own thing, a general computer networking concept. Tor is also its own thing, a network implementing that concept. Finally, Session has its very own implementation of onion routing using a network of Oxen service nodes which are not connected to or affiliated with Tor in any way.
It might seem like a trivial nitpick at first glance, but it's an important distinction. Anybody can run a Tor node, many people have expressed concerns about compromised exits. There are some who may actually be discouraged from using Session if they think it uses Tor."
Thank you to Zcyph for taking the time to email me and clarify this. 👍
Very well made video, thank you!
