As a mark 7 owner, I would only think to change my car to mark 7.5 :)
ОтветитьOne of my biggest regrets was not keeping my MK7 GTI.
ОтветитьWhy does anyone even bother buying a manual in 2023? The rev-hang is atrocious.
Ответитьgood thing i still drive a 2004 golf
ОтветитьYou look like Ben Affleck 😂
ОтветитьDo you have a cracked windscreen? Yikes
ОтветитьYou're handsome.
ОтветитьI love this show
ОтветитьImho no new car is as good as it’s predecessor. At least in the fun department. On paper it may be better and at the track it might do better times. But that doesn’t translate to more fun.
Ответитьso we're just gonna ignore the massive crack in the windscreen?
ОтветитьI gotta say, I allowed this video to keep myself from getting a Mk8 GTI and got a lease for another brand with more physical buttons because of the high critique of the UX. And I get it. However I finally got myself to buy one and I think while the infotainment isn’t perfect I’d still pick this over the 7. It is absolutely incredible how much value, engineering and design is in this car. I love the video all in all, but one thing I notice with car journals is there’s a desensitizing to how incredible these little cars are in the wider panorama of cars. Would love to get your thoughts on the 40th AE!
Ответить.
ОтветитьWhy does everybody turn off lane keep assistant?
I only buy VWs because it is so good and safe!
Are there videos showing the problems? I really like to know, I suspect per car differences. My sisters Touran lane keep does feel a bit jittery.
he is ryan reynolds older brother or what? nice video btw
ОтветитьLet's talk about the back road at the end. Rippin on her.
ОтветитьIs that a crack in the windshield I see at the end?
ОтветитьI had a MK7 GTI and now have a MK8, recent software updates have fixed a lot of the lag experience on the UX, the capacitive steering wheels buttons are fine after getting used to them. (I have never accidentally activated the heated steering wheel) As a matter of course when starting the car I turn off the lane keep assist and then the start / stop (using the short cut menu)
Overall the MK8 GTI is still a fun car to drive if you can live with the flaws.
The OS is annoying.....for a Boomer.
ОтветитьHopefully the 2024 will fix some of this. I can't believe they got rid of the mechanical speedometer and tach. Don't they know who buys theses cars?
ОтветитьHaving owned a lot of fast Seats over the years (another brand the US missed out on), the UX has always sucked ass. It's just more evident now it has way more focus.
ОтветитьJust cancelled buying a 2023 and will wait for the 24 sin e they have already changed all the terrible errors !
ОтветитьGolf peaked with the MK2 then they made terrible cars
ОтветитьAs an owner of an VW Caddy V California, that is basically based on the Golf 8, I can only agree to the problems with the infotainment. It is too laggy. And whoever decided (this could not have benn forgotten) to to put lights on the audio and climate controls just needs to get a new job. At least I do not have the touch controls on the steering wheel (I have real buttons 🙂). Other than that any MQB Evo based car drives just fine is very economical and doesn't cause too much trouble. Just the MIB3 Infotainment is a huge downer.
ОтветитьI personally think that the 2010s are the pinnacle of German Automotive design. Perfect example is the new M2 and Golf 8 they look absolutely terrible
ОтветитьWhat is that weird key in the opening
ОтветитьAmazing video. I recently quit my job selling Audis because I couldn’t stand them anymore and wouldn’t buy one myself. I’ll hold onto my two decade-old ones for as long as I can.
ОтветитьVW already returned the rotary volume control in some new mk8's and the infotainment system speed is fixed
ОтветитьThe problems you are mentioning are not specific to the VW Golf 8 GTI, they are to all VW Golf 8s, especially the VW Golf 8 R-Line, GTI and R, and also the VW Polo GTI, VW ID-3, VW ID2all, VW ID-4, VW ID-5, and VW ID-7: software, capacitive buttons on the steering wheel and lack of illumination of the sensitive buttons on the infotainment screen. All these problems are being solved and will be fixed in the new VW Golf 8 Restyling 2024, which will be presented at the end of spring 2024 and can start to be purchased in Europe during the summer of 2024. But these problems will persist in all vehicles 100% electric from VW: ID-2, ID-3, ID-4, ID-5, and ID-7.
ОтветитьI like the diesel like harshness under full load at 1500 rpms🤣
ОтветитьMK7 might the best?
Ответить"A GTI does more things better then ANY other car"
but its not RWD
I've used the capacitive button on the golf. It's not as bad but also not that great. It works but you need a second for the system to register the touch. It's not instant like a button would be.
ОтветитьIt’s the greatest mark ever huge improvement over its predesssors
ОтветитьI can’t agree more, the 7.5 is just a dream to drive. This video really makes me appreciate the steering wheel and climate buttons.
ОтветитьWhen I was buying a new car in 2015 the A-class just couldn't match the MK7 in term of interior quality, infotainment, ride and practicality.
The MK7 was my first VW and I loved it. It was just a perfect package. Unfortunately then came the MK8. The cost-cuts were taken so far it's compromised the quality feel and practicality so bad the Golf lost it's main selling points reasons of its heritage and loyal owners choosing it model after model.
The MK8 is just a car, it could be easily rebranded as and other affordable hatchback. I left VW for good.
The MK7.5 is just the best golf ever
ОтветитьI’ll take an mk7 anyway
ОтветитьJason describes basically the current issues with almost all nee cars (and especially German "premium" ones).
ОтветитьHad a Mark 7.5 Golf R and loved it but hated replacing tires (long story). Blast to drive, super comfortable with a great interior.
This thing looks like a disaster inside and out. Sad to see.
Were you able to disable the heated steering wheel control switch? Just asking because one of your big complaints was its easily accidentally activated with the slightest turn of the wheel as you demonstrated yet it didn't activate once during the spirited drive along the curvy road.
Love you guys, best in the biz ❤
ОтветитьIt's a real driver's car. When it's not propped up on an elevator, which is most of the time.
ОтветитьSo we can blame Piëch for the fact that Golfs are unnafordable in a lot of the third world countries and to so many buyers in first world countries because it was focused on people who could afford whatever they wanted instead of people who could afford "a golf".
Ответитьwow, this was brilliant. I feel that you've expressed everything I've thought of while comparing the last generation Škoda Octavia (Golf's Euro sibling) to the current one. by the way, bonus points for the pronounciation of Škoda, it's a little detail, but it shows that you care about them.
ОтветитьIt seems like those that design the cars never drove one. How could any sane driver convert every control to unreliable touch elements?
ОтветитьIt's really not that big of a deal...
ОтветитьI've owned my MK7 SE manual since 2017. No issues, still stock(not tuned). Luv this car.
Ответитьmk8 probably will be most hated golf I notice that when I see interior and exterior first day
ОтветитьTouch screens/capacitive buttons are so incredibly terrible in every conceivable way they should actually be banned from being in vehicles.
Physical controls are easier to deal with and MASSIVELY safer.
Manufacturers need to be focusing on function and safety, not gimmicks and style.
