That was it! Thanks a lot.
ОтветитьIF I have only one low beam light, is it a fixture only problem? Love the vidoes. Love my 08 LS powered envoy!
ОтветитьThanks for the tip! I swapped out 45 and 46 to check and had lights again!
ОтветитьI'm sorry sir you said this video sucked...? I beg to differ you just taught use how to read a wire diagram that in its self is a W
ОтветитьI had this same problem one time! I went with a Napa replacement as well. However, the part ended up failing fairly quickly. So I went to GM and just got OEM.
ОтветитьI have 2012 sierra. Headlight didn't work when I started my truck this morning, only my highbeams worked (so yea, everybody hated me on my drive to work) my fuses looked good and the relay still clicked when I turned the headlight knob. Any suggestions? I was hoping the video went further 😅
ОтветитьHow is that motor in that vehicle? I am looking to purchase the same vehicle.
Ответить2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 base 4.3 l
I have parking lights and turning single.
No high beams light or low beam lights
And the left side works right
ОтветитьWhat would you say about 2003 gmc sirens that as no low beam right side or right side back Tell light not Turn it on at night unless break is pushed
ОтветитьTop 👍
ОтветитьThis was easy because you followed the yellow brick road. One step after the other in a logical sequence. That is why you make money from fixing cars. Thanks for the link.
ОтветитьSurprised it passed inspection, those headlights are terrible!
ОтветитьI just replaced my relay on my 04 envoy thinking that was the problem my low beams didn't work. It actually turns out both my headlights were dead 🤣
ОтветитьThanks Eric, another great video!
Ответитьi like being in control of my vehicle my 1994 ram 2500 if i want my headlamps on there is a switch that i control i don't want headlamps burning unless i need them this also makes the system simpler. really wish we had choices. if i want my doors locked i have a switch for it that way when i get out of the truck the passenger door isn't locked and i can simply open it. i hate the new vehicles that do all sorts of things of which isn't needed.
Ответитьi love diagnostic videos!
ОтветитьSuper common on the trailblazers and envoys. There’s another one of them relays in the box. As soon a I get one with no low beams, I switch the two relays to see if works. Then order a new relay.
ОтветитьMy 05 snailblazer had this too. It's a solid state relay. Low beams are DRLs. Pwm for lower light intensity.
ОтветитьMann No front bumper removal to get to the headlight.. lol
ОтветитьI got a smile when I saw this video pop up and seen the symptom. I don't have enough fingers or toes to how many of these envoys or trailblazers I've seen have this happen over the years. Kind of odd how it just picked on them models
ОтветитьI once had what I would guess a "10 million to one odds" chance with both my headlights "Low Beams" burning out at the same time. I drove my family in the car, a 1997 LS400, to a Melting Pot restaurant for dinner. The headlights were fine, it was after sunset. We came out after dinner, climbed into the car and I started the car, as usual the headlights were on, and as I put the car in drive, I realized my headlights were off. I thought I accidentally turned them off. But I had not switched them off. I drove the short distance home with the "Brights" on.
Replaced both lamps and everything was back to normal.
Good video gotta love the easy ones too..
ОтветитьI like to leave one bulb unplugged to save energy. Then if the other goes out, I have a spare.
ОтветитьExactly what I expected it to be. Had a 05 Grand Prix. Mini relay. Took a quick crap. It's actually a recall on those. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьThe lighting on cars isn’t as simple as it seems especially with cars that have automatic headlights. The diagrams for these things are insanely complicated if you don’t have a good understanding of them.
ОтветитьVideo doesn't suck Eric. Its a great educational tool in diagnostics instead of throwing parts at something. I ran into the parts cannon issue a couple years back with my 87 Ford Ranger. Its so old nobody knows how to work on the old stuff it seems. Every shop I took it to threw parts at it, still didn't fix the issues. I finally got on a Ranger forum stated what was going on, what had been done, etc. One member says did you change the O2 sensor...umm he** no, so after 7 months of thinking I got screwed on this truck that had computer issues, or major engine problems as it would randomly stall, lose power, bucking while accelerating, etc. I put a $45 O2 sensor in it, figured what the heck, another shop charged me almost $2k to install new plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, ignition coil, etc. and still didn't fix it, what's another $45 part tossed at it. Sometimes it pays to just step back bow thy head, and ask for help on a forum that knows these vehicles...that O2 sensor fixed the problem, and been loving this truck ever sense.
Learning a little from your videos although not quite as much help to me because the Ranger is older so there ain't much in the way of getting codes off it like the newer stuff, yeah you can get codes off it, if it throws any, but there isn't much that it'll throw a code for anyways. Luckily its old enough to more easily take a step by step approach at figuring things out, and with help from the forum it'll be simple to keep up with too.
A couple of my newer vehicles with some help of some diagnostics software really helps point me in the right direction too. Sometimes old is nice in simplicity, but sometimes new is nice because with scan tools and such you can really dive in and figure out the source of a problem instead of throwing a bunch of parts. At least narrow the issue down to a smaller group of things to check, and with wiring diagrams at the ready it sure makes it nice. With my Ranger I gotta dig around to find diagrams for it, they're not right on the scan tool LOL...rather lack of a scan tool HAHA!!!
Thanks for all you teach us Eric, we appreciate all you do. Even if your videos are much less involved like this video, its a learning/teaching moment for many of us.
A lot of things in my case boil down to my lack of patience, lack of a comfortable place to work, and oftentimes I'm finding that if I just had a vehicle lift I'd be able to much more easily tackle a lot of issues myself...lying on the ground under a vehicle is he** on my back and neck, its just downright uncomfortable and painful for me and I'm not even that old, my neck and back just don't let me do that stuff.
Definitely a damn good video love the way to logically go through and figure this out I don't think it sucked I thought it was still very good video on how you figure things out and do diagnostics love it keep it up thank you
ОтветитьLow beam relay? One for low and high.
ОтветитьNot a crappy video, I don’t know about other viewers but I love your electrical diagnoses videos. I took electrical diagnostic courses when I became a certified Honda and ASE certified tech. I have been out of the automotive field for a little over 10 years now but still work on vehicles on the side and these videos have always helped me not forget electrical diagnoses.
ОтветитьI like when you talk . Your no talk one made me fast forward , did I say that out loud Ha Ha ! Keep rocking.
ОтветитьWhat you're actually doing is teaching people how to think.
ОтветитьMust be a common issue. Mu envoy had this same issue
ОтветитьThe one I did had low beams in the day time but not in the nite. Passed a safety?
ОтветитьCrappa a sponsor?
ОтветитьThis video does not suck, as you say.
Your use and explanation of logical electrical deduction..very good!
Rock On!
Rip off! I want my money back!
ОтветитьHad a 1999, with low beams that would sometimes not work, or best intermittent and of course, its only when it was dark outside. Never did fix it. My best guess was a bad ground. I'd turn the car on and off till the light turn on, or I'd flipped highs, and lows back and forth. If that didn't work, I'd used my brights to get home. Seldom was the case. When I wanted to work on it, they wouldn't act up. Than I'd go a month or two and no problem. Seemed to work when the moisture in the air was high.
ОтветитьVery anti-climatic but overall real good. So many people never look at the simple and unexpected. Thanks for the videos..
ОтветитьHi Eric, great entertainment as usual. I love the fact that you are probably the only person that was disappointed by the video. Love the methodical approach as always. If it was always a bigger problem to solve it might discourage us DIY folk from having a crack as it would be too daunting
ОтветитьThere was an extended warranty or recall of some sort on those headlight driver modules. Its long since expired, but I can't help but wonder if its a regional difference. I can remember changing those out regularly when Trailblazers where common vehicles.
ОтветитьConveniently, the engine in the Envoy won't run long enough to need headlights anyway.
ОтветитьThe wiring diagram is misleading on that relay. It’s actually a solid state driver used to pwm the low beams for daytime running lights. If you put a normal relay in it will buzz during the day just a fun fact lol. Other thing is there was a special policy on those and GM would replace them for free but the policy ran out a couple years ago.
ОтветитьOne of my moron friends tells me one day that his brake lights don't work and what could be wrong. I thought it was probably the switch since all three brake lights couldn't burn out at the same time. Turns out he had never checked them in all the years he owned the car and yes, all three had burned out, probably one by one!!!
