This show demonstrates the saying, "We're not inheriting the world from our ancestors, we're borrowing it from our children."

Watching this show and learning from it as a kid actually helped be prepared for certain topics in high school science classes.

I remember as a kid back in the early 90s, I used to watch this every afternoon on TNT.

Each planeteer represents a different feeling to save Earth: Kwame represents STRENGTH, Wheeler represents COURAGE, Linka represents WISDOM, Gi represents COMPASSION and Ma-Ti represents HOPE.

Originally, it was planned that Gaia lived in a crystal chamber underground and after sending the rings to the kids, she was supposed to cause an island to rise out of the sea and call it Hope Island but that part proved to be too difficult to animate.

damn seeing captain planet come to life when they would call him in used to get me super excited as a kid. I will definitely watch this with my future children

This should be rebooted in modern times so that the next generations can take care of our planet.

In the un-aired pilot version of this episode, Captain Planet, Gaia, Hoggish Greedly, and Rigger have different voices, but voiced by Neil Ross, Lynette Mettey, Michael Bell, S. Scott Bullock, and Brain Mitchell, but the Planeteer's voices remain the same all throughout the seasons.

I remember when I was a baby and couldn’t walk I used to hop on my butt to the tv in my diapers and just sit as close to the tv and watch Captain Planet and the planteers lol good old times
