Loved this. By far my favorite Larry Mullen drum part is Like A Song.
ОтветитьYou need another snare on your left above right timbale, I saw them twice when they were touring Unforgettable Fire. 16 pattern on floor Tom, I never saw him employ the crossover hand technique. The back beat was played on right snare, next to timbales accents using main snare and kick mounted tom. Try doing it that way and there isn't such a gap in the dynamics. I'm 54 , been listening to U2 and drumming since 83.
ОтветитьIt's the one from one tree hill.
ОтветитьSunday Bloody Sunday
ОтветитьMy favorite drum part is the end of Bad!! I could listen to it over and over! Could you please comment on it and the significance of it(if there is any)?
ОтветитьHow about Desire?
ОтветитьLarry is one of my favorites and is very underrated IMO. I appreciate you for making this and for the algorithm for reminding me to watch it 🤣🫶🏼🥁
Ответитьja tego kurwa nie ogarniam ide po wodke
ОтветитьWhat about mofo drum part?
ОтветитьGreat video! I love old U2 and Larry is a big part of that.
Thank you for highlighting some of those lesser known but such essential drum grooves.
Some
Really early songs that I love his drumming on include Rejoice, and With a Shout (October) , Like a Song (War), and even New Years Day. I also so appreciated your explaining of A Sort of Homecoming ! Way more complex than ever imagined.
My favourite part of Larry is in With or without you, Ruttle and Hum, last part of the song with The Edge is incredible.
ОтветитьAwesome video!, I think that Larry is one of the most creative and ground breaking drummers of teh last 40 years. My best regards!.
ОтветитьFor me it was U2’s “Stay” right up to the last note
If not, the last note.
Good selection, but you have to throw in there Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car from Zooropa, he really created some awesome patterns and sounds to compliment The Edge in his new style, He really did this for Achtung, Zoorapa and POP, you really hear it more in Zoorapa, although Miami from POP really stands out for me, best groovy song U2 has ever written, drums are using some type of gated effect, then half way through the song it cuts over to the traditional drums, great production and creativity on the drums. Another good classic that was over missed personally I think is 11 o'clock tick tock, could be since I'm biased to this song since it was my introduction to U2, I probably just revealed my age, none the less catchy drums.
ОтветитьSunday Bloody Sunday este ritmo de batalla es hermooooso epico
ОтветитьI love Larry Mullen Junior.. Of course Sunday Bloody Sunday is something that is so unique. That’s when I first started to pay attention to the drummer in a song. His style is very distinctive. And while I don’t know, all of the technical terms. Fly is another one that I like, even though it’s more of the Edge, but it kind of has the Edge playing off of the drums if that makes any sense. But Larry Mullen Junior is my favorite drummer, and I think most unrecognized for his genius. Then maybe some other drummers like Travis Barker. But nonetheless, the drummer is the heart of the group and me personally, my arms would get too tired for it. I hope that Larry’s surgeries go well for his wrist. He’s one of the best drummers in the world.
ОтветитьI was fortunate enough to sit in an empty arena and it felt like U2 played "Streets" just for me at soundcheck. Amazing day for me and my family (who didn't believe my story but went anyway). 12.11.87. Biggest day ever in my quest to meet Larry.
ОтветитьWith or without you Rattle and Hum
ОтветитьLarry is extremely underrated. He is THE reason i picked up the drum sticks back when i was ten years old. Thanks Larrry!
ОтветитьDefinitely, Bullet The Blue Sky rules. Just pure, naked, raw rock.
ОтветитьLike A Song is some of the best high energy drumming ever recorded. LMJ is a legend.
ОтветитьThe Fly
ОтветитьKudos for including A Sort Of Homecoming from my all-time fave U2 record, The Unforgettable Fire. That song sure is hard to figure out drum-wise, but one thing I can tell you is I have never seen Larry cross his arms over, I feel that really goes counter to his approach. In fact I believe that's one of the reasons why he always has a floor tom on his left instead of a side snare. that being said, in the live videos I've seen it always looked like he was keeping time on one of the timbales, not the toms
ОтветитьI'm the one who decided to be a drummer because of Larry, too. I thought he is just the GOD of drum since I was 11yo girl. (wow. 30years ago!) In 2019, when they got a concert on north Korea, I just cried and cried. and thought it's worth to live. thank You U2 and Larry, my very first crush. :)
ОтветитьThank you for highlighting Larry “MARCH” Mullen Jr. I have two questions. What year were you born? And how long have you been playing drums?
ОтветитьAbsolutely love U2 and LMJ's drums. The October album has some cool drum stuff as well, plus of course Achtung Baby as many people have mentioned.
ОтветитьIan paice also.
ОтветитьZoo station. Exit. Though bad is the absolute greatest u2 song
ОтветитьSort of homecoming. Great song
ОтветитьPlease do a the genius of video for Larry, his drumming is so unique and is very influential
ОтветитьThe difficulty of Sort of homecoming is insane. It's Bonham level crossover insanity!
ОтветитьI love how people say Larry is a hack. I kindly refer them to A Sort of Homecoming which he essentially composed the drum arrangement for and recorded at age 22. I ask his critics to explain what they accomplished at age 22.
ОтветитьThe great 'open' drumming on U2 tracks is sample gold. Bullet The Blue Sky, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World, Like A Song, The Lounge Fly and so on. How they haven't been used on more hip hop tracks, I'll never know, Larry is one of the best. Sound as a pound bloke as well.
ОтветитьArguably the most underrated drummer of all time
ОтветитьLarry's playing and sound in Zoo Station is so powerful and iconic
ОтветитьWhere is "Bad"?
ОтветитьLove it. I'm a massive U2 fan I I really appreciate this video. I have so many favorite drum parts though. Especially on UF, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby and Pop. I would certainly like to see more vidoes on Larry Mullen Jr. Please, Silver and Gold, Unforgettable Fire, Acrobat for instance
ОтветитьDUDE! A sort of Homecoming! I always wondered how and what Larry was playing! Thanks for explaining and playing it too!! BRAVO!!
ОтветитьThat clip of A Sort of Homecoming is from the Wide Awake in America album..best version too.
Ответитьhi ..my U2 fav' song by far is elvis presley and america....and cruel too ..;-))
ОтветитьYou should invite Larry on for a video once he recovers from surgery
ОтветитьI'll say "Please" from "Pop" is a very, very nice groove for me. It feels very intense but it's given a low volume in the mix, which gives the whole song a mood of extremely intense, barely restrained emotion. Goes quite well with the lyrics, which is something unusual for a drum part.
ОтветитьSuch an underrated drummer, he’s so solid
ОтветитьLarry is the backbone of U2
Ответитьnevermind lmao
Ответить"Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car " sound off drums very interesting
Ответить'In a Little While' or 'Stuck in a Moment'. Really inventive drum grooves. Underrated
