The stone is very important.
Ответитьwill this tool thin out leather laces...mine are to thick for project im working on
ОтветитьVery helpful.
Thank you!
Thank you, and great info. I just realized a few days ago, the reason I couldn't make any progress was because it's not designed for lefties. Going to bend mine up right now.
Ответитьim left handed and use one of these by pushing it forward instead of pulling it towards me. works just as well but you have to take twice the amount of time and be a bit more delicate
ОтветитьThanks. I was looking for a tool to skive upholstery leather so I it will work in for making buttons. Alot of upholstery leather or certain parts of he hide is too thick for my button molds to work. Any brand of skiver you like better?
ОтветитьHere’s a tip wet your leather first, so much easer!!! Ironworker Doug! Pouch maker!
ОтветитьI get my injector blades from Razor Blade Company, in a box of 1,000. I think they're about $93 bucks for the uncoated blades (works out to about $0.09 per blade), and shipping is about $10 bucks.
Ответить...I've learned to be ambidextrous, pretty much... ;)
ОтветитьAfter watching this a couple times and trying to get it bent right i took the round plate from my arbor press; its the right radius to couture the skife; then I found if you hold the edge that holds the blade over the edge of the plate, and tap it down to set the angel of the blade . works nicely...
ОтветитьGreat tip!! Thanks 😊
I'll buy a couple more and bend them differently, so I can choose between them depending on what I'm doing.😊
Great tip, figured there had to be a way to make this skiver easier to use.. Thanks Don!!! ✌🏻
Ответитьthank you so much i have trouble with mine!!! again thanks don👍👍👍
ОтветитьThank you for all you do .You have taught me a lot.
ОтветитьThanks for the info it was very helpful!
ОтветитьYes a left handed version would be great
ОтветитьGreat video, I have the cheap version and with a little trial and error I've got it down to a science.

ОтветитьMy new blades seem a lot duller than what yours looked like. I usually strop them by hand (difficult) to make 'em scary sharp like yours. What brand is yours?
ОтветитьGlad I saw this before I finally threw the thing away!
ОтветитьThis was super helpful. I just watched a Springfield leather video And they said just skive away from yourself if you're using it left handed.
ОтветитьGreat tips! Much appreciated. Thanks.
ОтветитьAlways great vids👍
ОтветитьWhy don't you make a wooden mold with the curvature you need?
ОтветитьGreat tip, bending mine now, it was never what I really wanted in a quick skiver. This tip seems like it will make it the tool I hoped it would be.
ОтветитьThank you, your my HERO
ОтветитьThanks Don, handy information right there. I've always hated using that thing but fixing to go try it out
ОтветитьThank you so much. That skiver has been such a pain.
ОтветитьAppreciate this. May seem insignificant to some but the detailed information like it being right handed and the tune up is a great help. I guess I will have to go back to the city dump and try to find mine. Thank you for your help.
ОтветитьDid you get a new camera? The picture is so much more brilliant in this video.
ОтветитьI have one made up for my left-handedness...a friend cut the blade end off and braised to the other end...have had it since 98...I use the right handed one for groundseats, holding them basically like a spoke shave for that work...
