Comparing WSS ,61 & 21 some numbers in 61 are better than 21 and some numbers in 21 are better than 61. "Cool" 61 is a masterpiece of music theatre and 21 is pale , pale imitation.

The set, music, & choreography, all comes together in magnificent perfection! Wonder who's still enjoying this in 2024?

Apparently this song influenced "Audrey's Dance" from the TV show Twin Peaks. Definitely hear the influence! :)

Can you imagine seeing this in the cinema when it was first released? It's still sharp today, 63 years later. In 1961 it must have felt otherworldly.

As a dancer, the choreography in this never fails to amaze me. It's such a chaotic number with so many moving parts, but everyone performs perfectly, with so much body control and expression! You can really feel the fear, madness, desperation in all of their movements! So very very cool!

I feel like that 2021 version fits the storyline better

この後アイスマンが率いるジェッツは、リフが率いていた時以上に素晴らしいチームになったでしょうね。何故なら彼は、この後のシーンで、チコが銃を持ってトニーを探していることを知らせに来た女の子に、完璧な対応もしているから。
まず、「アタイもジェッツに入れてくれ」と願う彼女を小馬鹿にするメンバーもいる中で、重大な情報を集めてきた彼女を評価して、偵察と伝令としての任を与えたこと。これは彼女の自尊心を高めつつ、ジェッツとして必要な情報を集められる一石二鳥の手です。
また、偵察し、その情報を伝達する、という任務である以上、彼女は決してチコに撃たれる様な立ち回りはしないであろう事から、彼女の身に危険が及ぶことも回避できるという采配なんですよね。正にcoolな判断の元に出された命令…流石だよ、新リーダー。
最後のマリアの言葉も相まって、きっと良いリーダーになっていくんだろうな。
