Guess I should have checked your channel first 😅
ОтветитьThat's great
ОтветитьIdk why but it felt like the google reps failed to dumb things down for the juries and the juries only heard buzzwords
ОтветитьThis is the dumbest shit ever, because I can install any apk I want on my android phone.
Ответитьbrav, good product or not is subjective and shouldn't be a factor in determining if something is a monopoly or not.
good job epic. fuck google.
fuck tim sweeney as well.
Makes no sense how Apple essentially said "We designed this playtform to fck over the devs, so we gonna keep doing it!" and the justice system is like "Understandable, have a nice day!"
ОтветитьTldr Apple has better lawyers
ОтветитьGoogle is crap, they steal 55% of the revenue on ads
Ответитьtimmy boy is just a huge hypocrite lol
ОтветитьTim Sweeney the CHAD. He was a game developer(independent at first) and so he knows how much efforts are put into making games so he did this CHAD move
ОтветитьHonestly, I don't want a 12 different app stores. Having just Playstore is fine.
ОтветитьOk so a semi corrupt democracy lost but some how a complete dictatorship won 😮
ОтветитьIf I recall correctly all of Epic's lawsuits against Apple, Google and Valve stem from the fact that they all take a 30% cut of app sales. They are of the belief that they can take as low as 8% cut and still be profitable (which is why EGS takes 12% as an attempt to prove it). Ironically Apple's defense back in 2021 postulates that Epic operates at a loss and the EGS won't be profitable until 2027, if it ever will be, as opposed to Epic's claim of 2023.
ОтветитьEpic did win against Apple.
Why else would Google and Apple change their terms to only take 30% after the first million and not before it.
We all owe Tim Sweeny a debt.
I have watched most of your videos and sometimes i wonder how you get all these knowledge from 😮😮😮😮😮
I will be so happy if you can do a short video on explaining frontend , backend and app development with js and python
sooo... what is the change?
ОтветитьMan, So I gotta get away from apple..
ОтветитьI hope the EU forces Apple to allow sideloading soon. Apple can't keep getting away with stuff like this
ОтветитьWhy do programmers make terrible lawyers? (Note: this is the 1000th comment on this video. Where's my prize?)
Ответитьits sad to see comment section where people(mostly programmers if im not wrong) are just trolling or laughing off this topic like 9 year old school chatroom, i wonder if it is because of lack of required education to understand what monopoly is or lack of required intelligence🤔
ОтветитьAll the while I've been thinking that Google is Skynet but it's actually Apple who appear to be the unstoppable weapon against mankind!
ОтветитьIm convinced that apple and it's users are the biggest menace to tech at this point.
ОтветитьObviously both google and epic games are complete shitholes, so if they try to beat each other up, there are only winners, regardless of the outcome. The story would be much better, if apple would also suffer though.
Ответитьthe main difference was really that apple case was settled by a judge and the google one by a jury
Ответитьwith apple "everyone has to think different in the exact same way"
what a beauty
Didn't this video get taken down at first?
ОтветитьPlease correct fees - they are 15% instead of 30%.
What do you get for this 15% fee? Piracy protection, malware protection, unlimited storage for your app assets, IAP and some more APIs. Quite fair share IMHO.
And Epic wants only to publish their game on Google's platform basically for free. Google will manage all infrastructure (network+storage) for them and they will pay Google nothing in return! Brilliant, isn't it? Sorry, things just don't work this way.
Google reduced fees to 15% after first lawsuits with the Epic because that was Tim's major concern. 15% fees are there for years. I'm sure Google ain't asking too much for developers to pay for the infrastructure they provide.
And yes I don't quite get what have they won. It is possible to publish app on Google Play platform and use 3rd party in-app payments - they just should be done on a website, not in-app. Amazon Kindle works this way (this is a bad UX but at least it works).
I don't think there is a more hated CEO than Tim fking Sweeney.
ОтветитьMake a video on Django drf
ОтветитьMeanwhile EU enforcing rules on Apple without asking questions. The EU gov is like the rigged ultimate boss that Apple keeps cry about, but can't do anything about it.
ОтветитьDevelop pwa's instead
ОтветитьThe wildest part of this situation is Epic, the company which harmed the game market more than anyone ever with its exclusive content strategy, calls Google to change the mentality. Lol. Lmao even
ОтветитьThat's a lesson for Google. Never go for Open source. That's hella risky. The future is closed source companies, they can get away as long as they own the platform they are publishing on, even if that is 100x monopoly, who cares. People are gonna cry about it in future, but that's their own fault.
Ответить"everybody has to Think Different in the exact same way" is a powerful summary of Apple these days
ОтветитьSo, we need an open source platform where we all play a part?
Ответить"This is a monopolistic behavior !" Said the greatest monopolist of all time, the government ! The day they give up the monopoly over the currency and let anyone produce a currency that other can use wherever and whenever they see fit, we can take them seriously.
ОтветитьMeanwhile Tim Sweeney:
Pays developers/publishers for exclusivity on the Epic games store, and also charges a percentage fee for games developed on the Epic engine... Pot meet kettle.
So Google loses while enabling users and devs to use other game stores. And Apple wins with the "don't make iOS apps, if you hate our terms so much"
ОтветитьGoogle charges 30%... U.S. charges 37% top tax bracket. Who's the real monopoly?
ОтветитьIs Fireship now doing paid advertising? Wtf is this "David vs. Goliath" thing haha? An ADVERTISEMENT for Epic Games? Epic Games' largest shareholder is the Chinese company Tencent (the BIGGEST gaming company in the world). Tencent is as much a monopoly as Google. In fact, it's even worse. I'm not defending Google, but this David vs. Goliath narrative is a joke from Fireship.
ОтветитьStevies' quote should be sub-tended 'with how the current conditions & procedures in the world are laid out'.
ОтветитьI'm amazed at how the American mindset perceives what's legal or not. I wouldn't be surprised if the judge and jury are 'apple' users.
ОтветитьFuck Epic for bribing off developers onto their meh platform.
ОтветитьCan't believe Steve Jobs made a good move with that closed hardware ideology
Ответитьnot really a David vs Goliath story though. it is a very large company run / funded by billionaires vs a smaller one run and funded by billionaires ..
ОтветитьI’m a little unfamiliar with all this. Does anyone know what’s so bad about monopolies?
ОтветитьI've heard from insiders at Google that their company operates like a hive mind with no one particularly in control of the direction of the company. This is how weaknesses such the ones Google is experiencing here make a difference. What is crazy is that this is also coming off the back of X turning to AWS for advertising. These two events have me wondering, is Google going to be split up and/or dethroned? A large majority of their money comes from online ads. If you remove that part of the business I feel as though the whole thing would self-destruct.
Ответить@Fireship I love your videos!! Could you make a video on how to do fullstack? As in how to properly split the frontend & backend and how to connect them? Thanks!!! <3
