This might be a silly question. But she kind of surface should you have these on ? Like especially with camping I have some folding tables but I’m worried about it being on that plastic

I want a modern white gas stove. I love my Coleman stoves. I love the lanterns. I love the hiss of the pressurized hand pumped system. I just want it in a modern package. I may have to build one myself 🤔

The propane bottles are supposed to rest at a 45* angle. That's why the damned pipe isn't a flexible hose.

The reason why the propane adapter for the stoves are solid is because the small bottles needs to be kept at an optimal angle in order for it to work. If they are flexible and then the bottle tips over you won't get a consistent pressure of gas, the liquid would then feed directly into the line causing flare ups and outs.

For anyone watching this in 2023, I don’t know if they’ve made improvements but I just purchased the Fold N Go and I can boil 1 L of COLD water in 5 minutes flat on MAX gas, which is only 30 seconds slower than my 1,500W electric kettle. Also, he got the dimensions way off — the unit is actually much smaller at 13”L x 12”W x 5”D. Hope this helps.

I don't know if anyone has said this yet but I think it is important info. On the old old stove you are not pulling in air as you pump it. When you pull out the pump rod take your thumb off the hole, then put in back on to push that air into the tank. You may still need new rubber, but try if you get a wild hair.

I've had a few of the propane stoves and they work really good, but I'm just hung up on the old stuff. Heck, I'm still using my Grandfather's 1972 Sears & Roebuck single mantel lantern. I have a Coleman stove I bought when I was 15 and it still works great. I use it when I go tent camping by myself. We take the camper when my wife wants to go camping and for that I have an old 3 burner Coleman stove I got at a yard sale back in my early 20's. The propane/butane is faster, smaller and easier to clean, but lets see if they are still working in 45 years. Not to mention, $14 for a gallon of white fuel will last us about 2 years. Depending on how much winter camping I do in the tent.
Good video! I really didn't think there would be a 3 min. difference. I was thinking maybe a minute, minute and a half. Okay, I'm going to go see if you got the pump fixed on the Coleman.

Maybe you don't need your water to boil an extra 3 minutes faster, but you're in a garage with no wind. What happens when you are in a cold and windy day, red stove might struggle or not even accomplish what you need it to do. The old Coleman white fuel stove is pretty cool though.

I remember the gasket being leather and bit of 3 in one oil would lubricate it. Once I had to pull it back with my fingers to widen (stretch) it a little for a tight seal.

Most small propane stoves have a solid tube instead of a flexible tube so it forces bottle to always be laid on its side when used. By laying bottle on side, it causes less gas to be released so it takes bottle longer to freeze until it gets low and then gas is released and pressure is lost. (evaporative cooling)

While driving through the hood a few years ago there was a Coleman box at the side of the road. Ya gotta stop and check. Brand new but older unit in it with only one of the burners ever having been used. Pulled it apart , a leaf had plugged the mixing tube somehow. Great "purchase". White fuel works at minus 30 propane not so much.

I have read that the Jet Boil stove has had a number of regulator failures by owners. I am wondering how you have done now that you have had it for quite some time. I contacted Jet Boil to inquire if there was a new, replacement regulator in the pipe line. They were not willing to say.

We just got back from a trip in the Everglades backcountry and brought a new Genesis. It let us down completely. I believe it’s a regulator failure. And the windscreen is a useless piece of plastic. I was shocked what my buddy paid for it, and so was he when we were cooking over a ground fire for free. I don’t think that stove is worth any more money than a cheap Coleman stove. And my coleman works.

Use dishwashing liquid for the pump leather. It will help seal the pump and make pressure. Just a drop or two in the oil hole. That is what my dad did.

That Coleman will outcook anything anywhere. I use it to cook at over 10,000 feet. I am amazed how quick it boils water and cooks. It's simple and lasts forever. You get the leather pump and add a little mineral oil to it and keep the stove clean. The best !!

Great video ! Really love all the info ! I totally understand the commodities he’s talking about and at the end of the day if you have 400 bucks to buy a camping stove go for it. But for most of us having a 400 dollar stove is not a reality. I’m not shitting on jet boil or expensive camping gear I’m all for it. But at the end of the day you don’t need all this fancy equipment these companies are putting out. Just take a trip out to Walmart buy some camping gear and go enjoy the trails and enjoy nature within you budget.
