Turning Red

Short review (Not really short tbh, lol):
Turning Red appeared to be a really good movie at first, but it went kinda downhill pretty quickly in my opinion due to all the problems that it has. The whole point of the red panda was that it was embarassing and the Mei can't control it, but both of those gimmicks were thrown out of the window pretty quickly. And I honestly don't understand why Mei is so embarrased of the red panda at first, I mean, the only embarassing thing about the panda is the fact that she destroys everything when she's the panda, but that has nothing to do with the panda itself, that's just Mei being dumb. Speaking of dumb, how come Mei's mother is always spying on Mei at school, but she doesn't notice that all the kids are wearing her merchandise? And even when she finds Mei at Tyler's birthday party, she doesn't can't put two and two together. Not that it matters, considering it's pretty predictable that she will find out at some point. None of the side-characters in Turning Red are very memorable either, nor do they add anything to the plot. And lastly, I don't think the climax made any sense, if Mei and her mother were both raised the same way, then why are their red pandas so different, I thought the red pandas represented how Mei truely feels, which leads me to the message of the movie. It's ok I guess. I mean, if you have a "secret identity" then it would be good to let it out sometimes, but the movie acts like there's a good chance everyone will love you when you do so, which isn't true at all. Just look at Tyler for example, if I were Tyler and I got spotted at a 4-Town concert, I would live to regret it. A much better message would've probably been that you are the one who should decides who you want to be. But to end on a positive note, this is probably the funniest Pixar movie I've every watched, but that doesn't mean it's amazing. Turning Red is worth a watch.
