Just got a orange/tan spear point and really dig it. Been on/off the radar for few months after seeing a pic. The orange G10 with the inlay tan micarta is one of the coolest scales I've seen in a long time. Love Liong's designs. When I saw this video I did a quick search and found one on sale.. boom..Checkout... JOY! Thanks for the great reviews. Keep up the good work and be safe brother!

Quality of the CF? We know that this varies with makers for sure. Thanks!

Great review! Just to mention that the clip looks reversible but you'll notice when you look at the knife from the butt end that the handles are very gently chamfered (part of the reason it's so comfortable to hold) and the clip is angled slightly to follow this shape. If you reversed the clip it wouldn't sit right. I rounded the corner of the handle between the front choil and back choil to match the curve of the blade tang. This makes the knife even more comfortable.

Regarding the comment below about blade thickness I would have said the same thing but the grind and height if the blade saves it. I'll stick my neck out and say I think this knife has the best grind (down to a fine but stable for M390 edge) I have come across on a production knife.

Detent-wise they are much firmer then the notched slipjoint mechanism on a UKPK IMHO. Finally, I also flattened the front of the choil slightly. Mine gets carried all the time! I'm not a bit fan of his other work but this one is out of the park I think!

EpicSnuggleBunny, I really wish that you have done a quick simple spine wack test by hitting the spine of this Liong Mah Traveler against the palm of your hand. That way we could have really seen how well the detents hold the blade in the open position. I have the Spyderco UKPK in S110V wich is a slip joint, but when it's blade is in the open position there's absolutely no blade play or wiggle while at the same time it's still easy to close the blade.

Lost me on that blade stock thickness. Totally out of place on a knife this size and of this purpose.

Can it be spydie flicked or front flipped?

Reate should of looked at Spyderco's forward finger choils to see how to do it properly . I think the fuller should have extended into the finger cutout for easier opening . Interesting design though .

I am a huge fan of Liong MMah knives but this one I just don't understand, nor do I want to as it lacks appeal for me anyway. One note, he his releasing some new and modified existing models so check out his site and you will see some new and exciting materials being used. I had the good fortune to speak with him when inquiring about the release date of the new, slightly modified "Lanny's Clip" which is on sale for $395 and he told me he actually shops for some of the materials as in the case of the Lanny I picked out all the micarta and supplies Reate to maintain the quality control he attempts to maintain. He is a very giving fellow with his time as he likes educating his clientele with the details of his design work, great hands on designer and a all around nice guy. Cheers

The BM 318 Propper would have been the best comparison.
